Yeah, my downstairs neighbour is living the life so hard that i'm not even sure how he gets by financially. He once let a leak in his bathroom get so bad that his next door neighbours also got water damage in their house.
He also once let his entire apartment fill up with gas from his stove, he smokes regularly and if it wasn't for another resident of the building smelling the gas in the hallway he probably would have blown himself and half the building up. The HOA forced him to get an electric furnace lol. I've seen the inside of his apartment and I don't think i've ever seen more glass bottles in a house in my life, no beers either just hard liquor which he drinks straight up. What a life

The 28 days thing isn't hard and fast but does mark a significant transition. It's not commonly acknowledged but a big part of alcoholism is gut bacteria related. Also most people don't realize we think with our stomaches in a fairly literal way.
Right now part of what you're going through is that all the gut bacteria that thrive on alcohol and which have displaced other bacteria are now starving because they're not getting the kind of food they live on and in doing so they're sending all sorts of crazy signals trying to get you to break down and give them what they want. It takes roughly a month for them to start to really die out and though you'll still miss it, the cravings shouldn't be nearly as bad after that.
