Is there any way The Simpsons could actually return to golden-age quality? Is it even possible anymore or is the magic gone no matter what you try?

Simpsons was once a parody of popular culture.
Now it simply reflects it.
Perhaps popular culture has become something you are no longer interested in.
that's because our whole modern culture is based on the internet, they'd have to take the latest memes and make it episodes
No because popular culture would have to change back to the 90's for the fans to even consider The Simpsons good again. They are parodying pop culture now, especially with the kids, it's just you don't like what modern pop culture has to say, South Park is another good example.
They aren’t even parodying modern pop culture. As the above anon said, they just exist as the culture with no subversion or mockery.
>but dude they referenced iphones and TikTok
Not parody
You both are not wrong, They need to make fun of more things, they did kind poke fun at the meetoo moment here and there but. What hasn't anyone tweet this to the show writers as they are clueless and just pumping shit out of a tube.
no
If you wrote The Simpsons like an actual sitcom where characters actually learn lessons, grow, & change then you can get an audience again. The future episodes always do well for that reason. But stagnating while making outdated modern references isn't working & hasn't worked for a very long time.
If they aged they'd at least have a different show, rather than a worse version of the same show.
Exactly.
The Older Simpsons, Coming to Netflix Oct 2023
Wokeism is about burying the past and hating it
Go leave schizo
Nah. The timeless show you remember is a product of its time and place. It will never be the same again, because the world is different now, and so is the show.
its 2023 why are we still talking about the simpsons.
trouble is you cant pinpoint golden age. it had multiple era of showrunners each doing a different thing and the og writing team was all gone by season 5.
The thing that made the Simpsons great back then was the joke density in dialogue. Basically every line had a punchline that flowed rapidly and seamlessly with the other punchlines.
Hell you didn't even need a joke, per se. You just needed the characters to be funny.
i guess john swartzwelder died or something. in the commentaries they mention getting him to write a lot of the old timey stuff grandpa etc would say.
Get better writers. That's it.
Have the simpsons stick to the 90's.
Take for example ned flanders opening the Leftorium (1991) if he did that in the current era of the simpons (homer gets an iPhone, marge plays MMO's) he would get destroyed by online shopping, having the show stay in the 90's fixes this.
