Not that anon, but I can honestly say it gets dragged down alot by gender equality, character plots that ultimately go nowhere and everyone’s favorite thing they add a baby.
>gender equality
this I'll take with a grain of salt, some shows do focus a lot on this type of stuff to the detriment of the overall plot but I'd have to see it myself to really grasp it because people tend to take this stuff overboard and exaggerate it >character plots that ultimately go nowhere and everyone’s favorite thing they add a baby.
fair enough
It's so funny how the left's latest defense is to just play dumb whenever someone calls something "woke." >"What's that? Never heard of it! Can you describe it to me? Who, me sow divisiveness? Did IIIIIIII do thaaaaat?"
Look, LotR is fricked now because Amazon current yeared it instead of running with Ringworld which has it built into the setting. I just want my fricking cat people and midget on giantess sex scene while a cat rat doesn't judge.
>It’s even funnier because they’re the ones that made it and used it
the original meaning was "aware of societal injustices", and that is absolutely not how right-wingers use it now
>the original meaning
Your side is those who argue that words change meaning over time and that's a good thing.
For example:gender, queer, asexual, etc. > "aware of societal injustices"
That's a lie and you know it.

Have you never seen the movie They Live?
They literally call the humans who are aware of the control over their society "awake".
You're so afraid of woke having a source beyond the narrow modern use you literally deny it like sheeple.

Right wingers just call anything they don’t like woke. It doesn’t mean anything. Hell, you just need to put a non-sexualised woman or a minority as a lead and it’s already woke according to people. Just a meaningless buzzword for identity politics shot flinging.
Its a defense both sides do since I've seen plenty get called rightwing and go "exactly WHAT about my post is rightwing? HUH?" or someshit
Woke rightwing redpill liberal cis and other shit have gotten used too much with people taking the phrase as being used negative that they're always gonna be viewing it as you just wanting to insult something with a now fairly generic and broadly used buzzword.
It's the same I win you lose bullshit they pull with everything. Representation matters so much until they get what they want. Then it's totally meaningless and why are you complaining about it, chud?
We've literally got people calling the New York Times woke. The term's been overused and now no one can be confident that people are actually using it to mean anything worthwhile.
But yes I've heard the Resident Alien adaptation gets pretty woke.
I don't think any publication that helped push the whole "Invade Iraq cause of WMD's" gets to be called woke. Again, if woke means anything it can't just be used a synonym for "anything left of Reagan."

People also unironically call banks woke when they crash because they uh… had the temerity to hire non-whites and we all know anybody who isn’t white is automatically incompetent at banking regulations. Because of course banks have never broken said regulations and done shady and illegal shit or mismanaged things when they just hired white people.
That’s why you also have people like Charlie Kirk say he doesn’t trust black airplane pilots because airlines are so woke now. Even when Boeing had that door fly off during flight people were saying it was because of wokeness, instead of, oh I dunno, the giant corporation cutting corners and ignoring safety checks in order to maximise their profits. Nah, it’s because they hire women and black people now as pilots, they caused it.

This isn't really a gotcha when the Democratic Party has welcomed in neocons simply because they don't like Trump and Bush has become somewhat fondly remembered by some libs because he was "nice". Shit, our current President spoke highly of Strom Thurmond.
>What does "woke" even mean?
It's the left wingers' (or rather, was the left's) word for being redpilled. But it has long basically come to be known as being bluepilled. Because people who unironically used the term back in the day to describe themselves were (and still are) the most smooth brained morons on the planet. But they stopped using it because right wingers use it to describe shit that's very obviously pandering to gays and trannies.
Originally it was used by the left to signify how you are "aware of the underlying and implicit social prejudices in normal society" but now the right has co-opted it into saying something in the lines of "overcompensating on changes to address so-called and perhaps inaccurate interpretations of underlying prejudices in normal society"
>only heard it on Cinemaphile
I don't believe this, nor do I ever think that the "define woke" question is being asked in good faith, because the person asking absolutely knows what is meant by it.

Yasuke is a real historical figure but people keep whining about him simply because he’s black. The cartoon was also entirely fantastical in nature, it had a fricking mecha in feudal Japan for fricks sake. Yet people wouldn’t shut the frick up about it. Same way they now rage every time someone posts an article about how Hollywood is interested in making a live action movie about Yasuke, who again is real person who lived in Japan and was part of Oda Nobunaga’s court as proven by historical records. Yet that’s woke because he’s black. But white people in Japan doing same shit isn’t woke because woke just translates to triggering racist fricks despite all the obfuscation and changing definitions at the fly and completely disingenuous misrepresentation of history to suit their agenda.

oh you're a literal Black personhomosexual, that's weird, I know Cinemaphile likes to act like they're not part of Cinemaphile for some fricking reason, but seriously, what are you even doing here? go back, not as a meme but seriously for your own good. lemme guess though, you're actually the real oldgay here, couldn't give less of a shit if you're 70 moron, you're still acting like a homosexual.
Yeah, and I think a point of confusion here is it doesn't have to be ideologically driven at the top. So much as a strategy to consolidate power. Class warfare that is camouflaged to not look like class warfare, resulting in false positives and false negatives depending on your politics.
Shame it never became a movie series. That name is just too good not to.
Like imagine a sequel movie of them going to some ski village for winter vacation next movie, and while they're there unaware of some meteor landing right next to their cabin causing some Thing/Slither type going on all around them.
Or the suburban house they're renting is supposidly haunted, but its really some wacko living in the walls that they keep just missing what almost happened to them.
It's a terrible adaption but it's alright as its own thing even if that's mostly because Alan Tudyk is carrying that shit hard. Unfortunately I got bored with it by season 2 and ended up dropping it entirely after a particularly egregious episode about the gender pay gap or some bullshit.
The real travesty is that we had an actual faithful comic book adaption on Syfy but they dropped it after a single season.
if you mean loyal to the source material, no, outside of a few shots in the first season.
If you mean a decent series in it's own right, yes for the first and third seasons. The second had way too many episodes padded out with side character stuff unrelated to the aliens, and the atrocious sO WhACkY BDSM subplot for the mayor and his wife. The thrrd season got limited to eight episodes, meaning the fat got trimmed off, and it became about aliens again.
>if you mean loyal to the source material, no, outside of a few shots in the first season.
And the only reason there aren’t endless threads b***hing about it and whining about EDI or whatever frick alphabet soup bullshit they’ve thought up now is because it’s a small indy book by Dark Horse so nobody has read it and thus isn’t easy way to turn into rage bait.
Seasons 1 and 3 are great. Season 2 sucked. The last 3 episodes of season 3 are the best the show's been so far, so I think stick with it if it gets renewed for season 4.
Only the first season.
This.
That said, it's not terrible thereafter.
The latest season is extremely woke
that word means nothing to me why don't you actually try criticizing something with your own words

no
You can really tell this season was affected by the strikes.
Actor did a great job in acting like he's pretending to be human
Alan Tudyuk is a great actor. Easily was my favorite part of Doom Patrol, shame he never showed up again after the first season
One of my Halloween traditions is to watch Tucker and Dale vs Evil.

Tudyk and the Sheriff are the best parts of the show. The Nurse and her burned out failed Olympic Prospect Drunk Destructive Friend we can do without.
I read 8 or 9 issues of the comic of this and it was horrible. Great art though.
I haven't seen it or read it, but a friend told me the comics are a lot better.

I didn't even know syfy still existed.
why do you guys always derail threads to politics
The show is funny, the comic is not.
