is this actually any good? i've seen a few clips and they've been pretty funny but i feel like i might get annoyed by the quirkiness like Parks and Rec eventually did

It's super gay. You'll like it.
i feel like that one guy is just trying to act like Charlie from Always Sunny in every scene he's in
he definitely gives off like a cheap Charlie at times
lol he kinda sounds like charlie too but without the energy
exactly. the writing doesn't help either but then the editing just makes it seem like a cheap version of always sunny at times
ironic since always sunny started as a low budget show
i meant more as a rip off of always sunny rather than a financial sort of thing. the guy has the same sort of cadence and logic as charlie at times
yeah i get what you mean but it made me think about the budget
the episode where the two guys realized they both were using the same towel for showering for months and never washing it was kino
It's probably my favorite 2010s sitcom.
For me it's Winston discovering he's colorblind.
is the quality pretty consistent through the entire run? i need something comfy right now but sitcoms usually get really bad at some point
It's been several years but I enjoyed it all the way through when I watched it.
Winston is my favorite character by far.
thanks anon. i kind of thought nobody on here would have watched it
It looks like a girl show but Jess is far from the focus. The writers realized the guys were way funnier pretty early. If anything I'd say Nick is the main character over her most of the time.
as for me? its when nick moves out and they show is rat trap and its a dummy in a suit holding a hammer
Me wash towel?
No, towel wash me.
It’s pretty meh, the only funny character was the handsome chad looking guy on the left. zooeys manic pixie le omg so quirky shit is pretty cringe by that point it was only cute when she was in her 20s
i've seen so many clips of this show and not once have they included the girl on the far left. is she just not funny or what?
like this guy says
the guys are funniest
I like it but I feel like you'll either like it or despise it with little in between, with that said it's pretty consistent in quality which was nice
she's more a plot mover than a comedy generator from what I can remember, like she might be the cause for a funny scene but it's not her saying funny shit if that makes sense
do you like late seasons of parks and rec? i feel like that will help me determine if i will enjoy this show
never seen parks so I'm afraid I can't help you
honestly I'd just watch 2-3 episodes (the first episode is the pilot and some shit changes immediately, like the lose the original black guy for the first couple seasons) and see if you like it
thanks anon, definitely will check it out.
good point about pilots though. i feel somewhat older shows had weird pilots or beginnings that were completely different before they could make some changes. it makes sense though if most shows are on a tighter leash nowadays
IIRC New Girl is a funny case where the original black dude's actor was starring on another show on a rival network but I assume he believed it wouldn't get a 2nd season so he starred in the pilot. then they greenlit New Girl except his show had gotten renewed as well
he comes back in later seasons so it's not like say Star Trek where it's practically a total revamp in many ways
Yeah Damon Wayans Jr was on Happy Endings at the same time, weirdly both shows were pretty similar Friends style hang out shows, there was a joke in one episode where Nick was like “coach moved out, he’s living with a different group of whites friends now” lol
it's not too bad and it has Zooey in it so it's worth a watch
you gave me cookie got you cookie
Good show to watch with your gf when you're going to bed
I'm going to bed with my gf to ...watch a sitcom ?
>verification not required
i remember watching this when it premiered, my brother liked it, i got bored after 1 season, a cute girl can only keep my attention for so long
Listen to the other gays in the thread who originally came to the series to relate to some cute girl like you, but ended up staying for the twink, bear, and bbc.
>bear
he's a cub, and the "twink" is a twunk
No, a hedgehog and a twunkversatile.
I have a love-hate relationship with it, personally. It is generally very comfy and the humor scratches an itch that I don't get anywhere else, it's naïve but self-aware with an element of 2010's nostalgia.
I started watching it for Zoey but I stayed for Schmidt, Winston and Nick (in that order).
It gets stressing at times, especially in the later seasons, because Jess is fricking insufferable and it can get anxiety-inducing at times, but it's overall a solid show that does the one thing it's supposed to do quite well.
I would recommend giving it a shot. The good aspects aged fairly well, especially some of the israelite jokes couldn't be done nowadays, which is always entertaining.
Its a decent show, its strange because the show was clearly made as a Zooey Deschanel vehicle but then the supporting cast kinda stole the show and she ended up being mostly annoying on season 1, which they learned to tone down.
The things that are a bit obnoxious are Schmidt with the israelite shit sometimes, Deschanel being overly quirky/pixie season one and Coach just being the most boring character that ever was.
