I remember I watched 2 seasons of it like ages ago and it was pretty good but whenever I see a clip of the newest seasons it's quite literally, 100% of the time every scene just:

    >Thomas Shelby sits with some other "cool guy" in a suit smoking while saying something wannabe profound and tryhard sigma, like "the thing is with women.... they always expect a payday" *cuts to slow walk with gun*

then Tom Hardy shows up and goes "oi oi mate the problem is, killin the top dog always means yew got to foite the ownah, amirite?" followed by more sigma stares by Shelby and maybe there's like a fight scene where they wanna show you that these classy gents are actually street and hardcore brawlers you don't wanna frick with

yeah, and when the Shelby's got too big, once they were successful there was no need to root for them because they weren't the underdogs any more

why did we all stop wearing hats

JFK. Prior to him, every president wore a hat during their inaugural speech. JFK didn’t, but he was young and had nice hair, so everyone followed the leader. Also I suppose the rise of automobiles meaning you didn’t walk place to place outside as often as you used to didn’t help. In Japan or other places where commuting by foot/train is still fairly common you’ll see a slightly larger amount of hat wearers, but still not nearly to the extent of 50-100 years ago

Low IQ Hibernian brutes dressed in classy clothes. A shame the UK police was already too cucked in the 1920's. The Victorian Era police would have hanged all of those bastards without a second thought.

OP here, thanks for the info. going to give the first season a try when i am having dinner.

Does one of them actually shoot themselves because of racism?

A horse refused to let black beauty win at the races, so he shot it.

I found it pretty entertaining. Story is pretty simple but the cinematography is alright. I got bored of it after 3 seasons when it became obvious that every season is the same as the one before.
    >tommy wants to move up in the underground world
    >there's a big bad enemy that tommy either has to work together with or get rid of
    >end of the season it turns out tommy has to get rid of the bad guy
    >bad guy expects it and also makes moves against tommy
    >it turns out that for the entire season tommy has been devising a perfect masterplan in the background to get rid of the bad guy and has a 1000 aces up his sleeve
Every new season the big bad guy is just slightly more powerfull and clever.

The show is alright but not as great as normies claim it to be.

Tommy and Arthur got fricked along the way.
Tommy became more cold and less sensitive, lost wife and daughter, barely any relationship with his son, and lizzie left him.
Arthur became a trainwreck, super depressed and drug addict.

Tommy was cold and insensitive from the beginning and arthur had problems with his rage and drug (and alcohol) use from the beginning also. Maybe it got worse but that's the whole thing with this show, it's the same shit but they just make it slightly more extreme.

Worth watching one season, it's kinda gorgeous and it mostly works on the first pass. Watching more than that is a mistake that you're free to make to whichever degree suits you. I stuck with it for four, because I was drinking heavily and unaware of what else I could be watching with dinner. It gets really, really fricking boring.

Each season is like a 10 hour Simpsons episode where no matter what happens, things go back to exactly they way they started, and continuity only gets referenced with a wink to show that it's not that the writers are forgetful, it's just that they just refuse to do anything else. You can bet your sweet ass that if Tommy Shelby took a rocketship to the moon to sell moonshine to aliens, at the end of the season they'll end up back at the bar next to the fireball factory, brooding over a glass of whiskey and coolly mumbling their dad platitudes of how life is hard so you'd better be harder.

It has a great aesthetic, but the scenery never changes. It has great actors, but the characters never change. It has an interesting one-season arc, but the arc resets and plays from the beginning again. It's purgatory with a wienerney accent.

You make it sound a lot more kino than it is

It somehow manages to combine of the worst writing, casting, direction and acting into an overall painful and cancerous experience
Anyone saying this is tolerable, let alone good is either underaged and this is the first show theyve ever watched, or clinically moronic

It's pozzed to hell and back and extremely historically inaccurate. A white woman would never have talked to a black man alone in a room.

Like a lot of people I never watched beyond the first two seasons. It's fun for what it is and I enjoyed Sam Neill's comic turn as a rape detective.

The first four seasons are fantastic, but the last two are garbage. They switched to a director that changed the overall tone and pacing for the worse.
On top of that they were essentially two halves of one long season, with a nearly three year gap between them, where a major actress died and had to hastily be handwaved.
The last season proceeds to frick around doing nothing but agonize until ending on what is basically just a plug for the planned movie.
And the sigma memes have ruined pretty much any decent scene out there.
