Hacksaw could have been the greatest film but...anon, who's in charge of hollyw**d?

stop fricking coping, the premise was garbage and Mel not pissing off israelites and managing to get more funding wouldn't have changed anything, I can't even believe it won two Oscars.

check the HR credits. it literally has like 36 various ~~*producers*~~ and each and every one of ~~*them*~~ had their own inputs and requests. mel was just a hired gun and that's it. did it for a paycheck, clint's point-and-shoot style

I think so. There aren't many modern movies about Mayans and that one was pretty entertaining. Which is a shame because a lot of that era is fascinating to me.

Not really. It's a cheesy action revenge movie that does absolutely nothing that hasn't been done a million times before.

It's not about mayans at all. That's just a backdrop for the bog standard Hollywood script.

I mean it's not exactly a historical documentary but it's got Mayan slavery, ritual sacrifice, and religious depictions especially relating to that one scene with the eclipse. There's not exactly an abundance of movies to choose from about Mayans. The only other one I can think of that even had them was The Fountain.

I think the biggest problem people have is that it has Spanish Conquistadors showing up like 500 years early.

My biggest problem is they didn't show that they were eating all the human meat.

      Kotonohas' Husbando

They've been extinct bro. Just like the native americans. In a minute there will be a thing of the past just holding on to their dumb casinos.

        >The Mayan languages[notes 1] form a language family spoken in Mesoamerica, both in the south of Mexico and northern Central America. Mayan languages are spoken by at least 6 million Maya people, primarily in Guatemala, Mexico, Belize, El Salvador and Honduras. In 1996, Guatemala formally recognized 21 Mayan languages by name,[1][notes 2] and Mexico recognizes eight within its territory.

Loved it. It was refreshingly different. It was nice to see some new unknown actors for a change. The main bad guy leader was awesome.
