Right? To an extent. Left? Frick no.
No robotic ai voices with a weirdly translated face.
Even then, it would only add a bit of life-support.
To save star wars, you need to give Luke an actual story that redeems his character and retcons TLJ.
To “save” Star Wars at this point would be difficult, but not impossible. Kathleen Kennedy is the problem. Her erratic, sloppy, and antagonistic vision for Star Wars just does not work. She’s announced like 20-30 projects that were promptly cancelled, failed, or memory-holed. The few projects that do get made all have to adhere to her strict rules regarding Rey Palpatine being the center of every universe. She is holding the franchise hostage because she wants the entire Saga to be about herself. Think about that shit.
A smart executive could do incredible things with that Universe. But, we’re unlikely to ever see that. Instead, Star Wars will be a largely niche streaming franchise with incrementally diminishing returns. The window to save the brand is passing quickly, and may have already passed. The Rey movie will flop worse than Flash. And after that flops, it’ll be way too late to rebuild and reboot. They have to move NOW.
>They have to move NOW
Except they won't. A return to something resembling its former glory would have required them pumping the brakes hard and taking action after the double whammy of TLJ and Solo. The only improvement to made at this point is the reputation not being in the toilet. If Star Wars has any relevance in the future it will be as a 2nd or 3rd scifi property
It would take more than that. They'd have to declare all disney shit non-canon and return to the EU. Also fire every moronic libshit writer and publically execute kathleen kennedy and bob iger.
SW is unironically one of the most boring space settings ever. Even Extended Universe wasn't able to salvage it back in Lucas days, and since it's not a canon anymore, nothing ever will.
Entire galaxy of imagination. Let's stick with everything that's been done before. George Lucas came up with podracing when he was taking a shit, stop jerking stuff like that off and come up with something else like it thats new.
I fully expected a recast Luke when he showed up and seeing that terrible CGI ruined the moment because it pretty much confirmed we were never getting a meaningful Luke role again. He'll just sit around talking with his gross AI voice and digital face.
They need to fix Luke, reinstate his importance and accomplishments. That should be a very simple thing to accomplish. But, Kathy wants everything to go to Rey. So, why not get creative minds together and think of a new, more important destiny for Luke to bring all those fans back? Because Kathy won’t allow that to happen. Again, she’s holding the franchise hostage and running it in a way that’s severely limiting its revenue potential. That limited revenue actually leads to layoffs and ruined lives. But, she doesn’t care. That’s the type of person that Kennedy is.
As someone who works in the tech industry... probably nothing. You wouldn't believe how many idiots are given full control because they fit Management's holy grail of cheap+affirmative action. I used to think it was horrifying but, eh. It's easy to get rich from.
Anyway, I'd bet the same thing going on in practically every tech firm is going on at Disney.
disney realized when launching disney+ that they can get away with subpar and downright terrible tv shows as long as there is cameo or some fanservice at the end of the season.
Except Disney+ is losing subscribers too. Hell, it lost 4 million subscribers from India alone when their national cricket matches got moved to another service.
They could have recast him, but worse than the garbage CG deepfaking is how they write him. That shitty writing goes a lot farther in making him seem like a different person than shoddy FX. They don't really care about reestablishing the original characters anyway. It messes with their marketing strategies and their desire to push agendas.
They still should recast him. The guy has 30 years of adventures to be told, and there are billions to be made. But again, Kathy is going to turn down billions of dollars in order to lose money on Rey.
The real question is …..why is Kennedy permitted to lose money, over and over again? I think I know the answer, but it’s still shocking watching this operation unfold
>why is Kennedy permitted to lose money, over and over again?
This has been the question nagging at the back of my mind for the better part of a decade now. She have dirt on someone? Is Star Wars just a tax write off at this point?
She produced a lot of Spielberg movies. ET, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, all shit that was financially successful and also proved to have decades long staying power. I think ET was actually the very first movie she ever produced. She has too much Spielberg clout at this point to ever be fired.
>They could have recast him,
Not possible. Everything is reified now, just repeating old imagery forever. Indy can only ever be played by a person or CGI entity physically identical to Harrison Ford, and the same for Luke Skywalker being Mark Hamill.
Retcon the entire ST and everything based on it. Set any new movies way after the OT ended with just some callbacks (people talking about legends of OT characters, maybe some Jedi type has a vision - you can throw in that cgi here). Of course even then if the same people are in charge of making the movies it's going to be shit again.
it would have saved the Boba Fett show if on the finale Boba is walking on Tattooine and then Luke Skywalker flips off a building and says "I thought I killed you! You're one of Jabba's people! and you put Han in the carbonite you rotten homosexual fricker" and then unsheats his lightsaber and cuts Boba Fett apart like a pizza
>save star wars plan >toss sequel trilogy/disney canon as an alternate timeline thru some shitty time travel multiverse movie >adapt heir to the empire properly >make Luke the 'out of place' Jedi he was supposed to be unsure of his own place and unwilling to train more jedi out of fear of creating more Vaders >make Leia torn between her duties as a politician, a potential Jedi like Luke and wife/mother to Han >make Han a desperate person trying to not be a criminal and looking to fix the Galaxy by rebooting trade thru legitimizing smugglers >have the villains be a disjointed empire incapable or unwilling to attack the Republic with them providing only small resources to thrawn >thrawn decides to leverage an insane Jedi master to compensate for overall Jedi weakness while looking to reboot the cloning facility
Boom.
Both of those scenes fricking sucked. The fact anybody praised that shit is embarrassing. Did they also clap when Chewbacca showed up in Revenge of the Sith?
>recast OT roles without changing their demographics >make Heir to the Empire >save Star Wars >build warehouse to store the 50 billion dollars it would make >
>recast Luke
frick no. Just do what they did with Hamill in the TLJ force projection thing.
Groom him, use some vfx and present us with the older, wiser Luke.
Nah frick that older wiser Luke shit, you need the characters as they were just after the Battle of Yavin. Luke needs to be young so he can rebuild the Jedi Academy and get that sweet Mara Jade puss and Leia and Han need to be young so they can have their kids and shit. That homosexual Lucas waited too long because he was under the impression he had talent.
Nahhh all that Jacen Solo shit will never get made, just do the Thrawn trilogy and close the fricking book on the Skywalkers. It’s honestly so fricking simple I don’t know why the frick they don’t do this. INB4 merchandising blah blah. They aren’t selling toys now so what’s the fricking difference.
Disney fricked up, you have to wipe all that shitty sequel trilogy bullshit and start over with the OT characters being recast.
Luke is Mark Hamill. No one wants to see Loke Skiwalks.
Sebastian Stan would be adequate only for flashbacks or if they were prepared to dub Hamill's voice over him.
Mark Hamill is a fricking washed up hack who will literally say yes to anyone that will pay him (he’s in the new Bert Kreischer movie). They need a new Luke, someone that can take the role seriously. I mean look at this shit, Hamill has always been a fricking hack.
JJ AND KK need to be shot into the fricking sun with their shitty “movies”. Star Wars needs a top down house cleaning and they need to hire people that respect the source material and characters.
all they had to do was give him one cool moment and not paint him as a pedophile by having him sneak into his nephews room holding his light saber like a penis
>Where did it all go wrong
Despite the popularity of the movies and Luke, he was always small and boyish and not what the industry wanted out of actors at the time. He didn't get a lot of work, over time he became depressed. That's where all those images of him picking up cigarette butts from trashcans come from. When Disney invited him to be Luke again, he jumped at it with pure elation without even considering if it's a good idea, he just wanted to be famous and liked again.
Back then especially, when you play an iconic character- everyone sees you as that character, and nothing else. And Luke Skywalker was THE iconic character. Nobody wanted Luke Skywalker in their gritty cop drama, or their period piece. It was simply too distracting to the audience.
That bias hurt him. He should have instantly tried to line up another iconic role (like Harrison w/ Indiana Jones) so that way he’d have a fallback
Just your common moron celebrity clinging to fame by pretending to have politics he doesn’t really have. Anyone with over a million dollars that doesn’t vote republican is moronic.
Are people really so braindead they can't accept a character being recast? Why use cgi? Just cast someone new. It's moronic. I can't believe this is where we are now. This is my breaking point. WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Solo flopped because of TLJ. It would have absolutely pulled Rogue One numbers had it not come a couple months after TLJ. That killed it. In fact, TLJ basically killed the franchise.
this is the only way to save luke as a character.
introduce kyle, buddy jedi cop adventure with luke, kyle somehow dies and luke goes into jedi depressoin. at least this way they can bridge the gap between hero luke and loser luke
It would take destroying every single copy of the sequel trilogy films.
This.
The Sequel Trilogy unironically destroyed Star Wars.
Star Wars has been dead for 40 years
Clearly you were never on the internet until 2010
The massive amount of money Lucas got before the buyout proves you wrong.
>luke wakes up
>It was just all a bad force dream
>walks over to his sleeping nephew
>"I don't have the urge to murder you based on that dream, don't worry"
Honestly if you saw a vision of the ST why WOULDN'T you want to kill Kylo when you had the chance?
>Jacen smiles and goes back to sleep
Right? To an extent. Left? Frick no.
No robotic ai voices with a weirdly translated face.
Even then, it would only add a bit of life-support.
To save star wars, you need to give Luke an actual story that redeems his character and retcons TLJ.
The left was the less-jarring second edition of official deepfake Luke
No.
He acts like a stuck up prequel Jedi instead as himself
To “save” Star Wars at this point would be difficult, but not impossible. Kathleen Kennedy is the problem. Her erratic, sloppy, and antagonistic vision for Star Wars just does not work. >2nd or 3rd *rate scifi property
It would take more than that. They'd have to declare all disney shit non-canon and return to the EU. Also fire every moronic libshit writer and publically execute kathleen kennedy and bob iger.
>publically execute kathleen kennedy and bob iger.
Publicly executing billionaires and CEOs is a good move in almost every situation.
>things with that Universe
SW is unironically one of the most boring space settings ever. Even Extended Universe wasn't able to salvage it back in Lucas days, and since it's not a canon anymore, nothing ever will.
Well that is pure bullshit because the old republic setting was selling like hot cakes. Just because you didn't like it did not make it boring.
You give her too much credit. Filoni is also a giant moron who wants to put his garbage OC stories into everything.
Entire galaxy of imagination. Let's stick with everything that's been done before. George Lucas came up with podracing when he was taking a shit, stop jerking stuff like that off and come up with something else like it thats new.
This we need more shows like Andor that push Star Wars along to new areas.
Star Wars is a dead IP and there is literally nothing anyone can do to save it at this point.
I fully expected a recast Luke when he showed up and seeing that terrible CGI ruined the moment because it pretty much confirmed we were never getting a meaningful Luke role again. He'll just sit around talking with his gross AI voice and digital face.

I'd really love to know what exactly she's got that keeping her employed. Is it something in her contract? Maybe she has dirt on somebody.
As someone who works in the tech industry... probably nothing. You wouldn't believe how many idiots are given full control because they fit Management's holy grail of cheap+affirmative action. I used to think it was horrifying but, eh. It's easy to get rich from.

Indys face in the first shot of Dial looked awful.
disney realized when launching disney+ that they can get away with subpar and downright terrible tv shows as long as there is cameo or some fanservice at the end of the season.
Except Disney+ is losing subscribers too. Hell, it lost 4 million subscribers from India alone when their national cricket matches got moved to another service.

How did she go from producing all that kino to thinking the sequel films were good ideas?
all the producer does is pay for stuff
Producers have a say in what they produce. They can break your balls if it doesn't go their way.
You've never heard of notes?
Probably too old and washed up now. The woman is in her 70s I think.
I didn't realize you had to be young to be a good producer.
What I mean is some people simply lose their mojo with age.
I suppose that must be the case here. JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson made some pretty good movies once, too.
That could be a reason, another is that after you've made it big you don't really need to really try anymore.
>They could have recast him,
Not possible. Everything is reified now, just repeating old imagery forever. Indy can only ever be played by a person or CGI entity physically identical to Harrison Ford, and the same for Luke Skywalker being Mark Hamill.

Boba killed himself, really.

heir to the empire but just the Thrawn stuff
Both of those scenes fricking sucked. The fact anybody praised that shit is embarrassing. Did they also clap when Chewbacca showed up in Revenge of the Sith?

Hard pass, age out then retire Luke in a dignified way.

Kathleen stop. No one likes Rey.
JJ AND KK need to be shot into the fricking sun with their shitty “movies”. Star Wars needs a top down house cleaning and they need to hire people that respect the source material and characters.
Hamill's performance in TLJ is pretty good. I don't want more Luke at all, though. His story is over.
Yeah, great.
Yeah. The sarcastic edge he gives Luke's character and the way he acknowledged C-3PO were nice touches. Hamill didn't write the script.
Here he was in The Guyver (1991) perfect age to continue the Star Wars story.
>I-I can be Harrison Ford, too
It's amazing how shit his career has been.
>inb4 Joker
Come on.
This. I like his Joker voice, but it's just a voice
Disney fricked up, you have to wipe all that shitty sequel trilogy bullshit and start over with the OT characters being recast.
This
Just recast the Big 3 and adapt EU. Put Favreau in charge
Yes, Star Wars fanboys just want Luke to be a perfect, flawess power fantasy, which is ironic.
Lol hands that will never be womens hands typed this.
all they had to do was give him one cool moment and not paint him as a pedophile by having him sneak into his nephews room holding his light saber like a penis
>Trying to Give Luke Basic Respect [IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGE]
Make sure to shove CGI Luke into a fricking Boba Fett show. They're so moronic it's still zoggling a decade later.
didn't the actor already look like him?
they should've just cast him as young luke, disavowed the sequels as canon, and went from there
Not anymore, they have ruined Luke with the sequels
Nope.
The Luke of the ST has been rejected by virtually everyone. Corporations don’t determine “canon”
Where did it all go wrong for Mark? Now he just gloats about sending money to fund a war where the weapons are now ending up in France.
>pic
He looked good there. Was it his best look, lads?
>Where did it all go wrong

Mark was never cool, just happened to be in some cool fantasy a long time agoin a galaxy far, far away
Just your common moron celebrity clinging to fame by pretending to have politics he doesn’t really have. Anyone with over a million dollars that doesn’t vote republican is moronic.
Why's he so homosexual? Was it the car wreck?
Almost without a doubt. Before the crash he was calling people midgets and trying to prank Alec Guinness on set.
No, Mark Hamil was always a libtard it's his Trump derangement that pushed him over the edge like Ron Pearlman.
>REEEE WHY DOES HE HAVE DIFFERENT POLITICAL OPINIONS TO ME, A RATIONAL THINKER?
Too bad Big Red One isn't a very good movie. He had a good aesthetic for a WW2 American soldier.
Star Wars has been entirely reliant on memberberries for 20 years now
Are people really so braindead they can't accept a character being recast? Why use cgi? Just cast someone new. It's moronic. I can't believe this is where we are now. This is my breaking point. WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
It’s time.
It’s time to recast the Big 3. I think it’s the one thing that could save Star Wars.
Solo had a recast and due to it tanking because of TLJ reception and it having an awful development that means people don't want recasts
>999
Witnessed.
Solo flopped because of TLJ. It would have absolutely pulled Rogue One numbers had it not come a couple months after TLJ. That killed it. In fact, TLJ basically killed the franchise.

They bridged the gap that in the new book already
What book?
They should make a bikini Leia advetures series with a face cgi Fisher in a hot body.
Boom 1 million D+ subsriptions in a week.
