You start to realize the scripts are all written by the pathetic men who don't love strong women one iota. What they hate is strong men. "Mommy, make the other boys top teasing me," is the stealth theme of all such media products. What would a better Amazon story look like? Show various amazons visiting the breeding village and fighting over the strong men. Note how the breeding village is huge, has tons of georgeous amazon women around at all times, of course has the breeding studs around all the time and also has any amazon mother who didn't wish to abandon her sons. Which is most amazon mothers, if wimpy men aren't writing the script.
Not so in Xena. You have three characters that are any good which are Xena, Gabrielle and villainess Calisto. The rest of the cast needed better work done. Hercules was the vastly better fantasy of its day, not just for Sorbo as Hercules but the side characters were much better written. Especially Yeolis.
