Just marathoned it a while a back and I'm still in shock.

This movie is as long as movies such as Once Upon a Time in America and Lawrence of Arabia, and I believe it's just as majestic as those films as well. Snyder is a fricking genius. He may put out a dud every once in a while, but when he has a hit, it's guaranteed to be an experience.

To be fair, you have to have a high IQ to understand Snyder movies. His art is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of religion and philosophy, not to mention a truly deep knowledge of comics, most of the references will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Superman's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterization - his personal philosophy draws heavily from the gnostic Biblical teachings of Valentinus, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these references, to realize that they're not just fanservice- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Snyder movies truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the depth in Superman's existential catchphrase "Martha", which itself is a cryptic reference to Rand’s Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Snyder's genius unfolds itself on the silver screen. What fools...how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, I DO have a Batman V Superman tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

        Those aren't mutually exclusive.

I am sorry, but as a Snyder fanboy i look down on everyone that hold ZSJL as some kind of great capeshit movie. It isn't. It is the most safe and generic capeshit team up movie Zack Snyder has ever done. Sure, it is moody and somewhat different but it is still safe as frick.

The real kino would be Watchmen and BvS.

Based. Although I prefer Man of Steel over Watchmen. ZSJL is the movie haters like the most from his DC movies for a reason.

Based and true. While I still love ZSJL, it's obvious he had to compromise and as a result a lot of the edges got knocked off. Wish he got to film terrio's original script but still thankful we got what we did.

The most kino capeshit movie in my book is Batman (1989).

You really have to take MoS, BvS and JL as a single narrative, it makes each one better and highlights this anti-deconstruction theme that Snyder's wife talked about around the release of MoS.

MoS starts in a place of deconstruction; grounded, showing real world consequences and reactions to the existence of a Superman, but Superman himself fights against this, trying to hold on to hope and optimism.

In BvS this theme is continued where he pulls Batman and Wonder Woman out of a place of gritty realism to become heightened, fantastical heroes takign center stage again. We see a stark contrast between the tragic, Frank Miller esque Batman against a mad scientist esque plot from Luthor where he makes an evil monster clone. This concludes in JL where now we have a world full of fantastical locations and super powered races, no longer ground and in fact fully embracing the tropes of comic books. Yes it feels a bit more generic, but that's the point.

Sure I can appreciate that but I still wish he got to films Terrio's original script. Picrel is concept art from a scene where Batman was supposed to be investigating the parademons and comes across a warehouse full of cocooned humans being transformed. WB made him cut it because they thought it would be too scary. Also I'm one of the few people that would've been very interested in seeing the Bruce/Lois arc play out.

      No, that's the Constantine movie

This, BvS before the third act is the closest capeshit has gotten to TRUE kino. The scenes with Batfleck before MUH MARTHA were gold and I still rewatch it just for that from time to time. It should have been a Batfleck film to begin with.

    >DUDE WHAT IF CARTOON HERO WASNT HERO
Genuinely baby's first dark and gritty reboot. Most edgelord teenagers grow out of this phase and realize Bomberman shouldn't be edgy and gritty, but snydergays never grew out of this.

I can’t believe that homosexual Mauler was right and Whedon League was somehow less shit and gay than the Snyder Cut. Snyder basically released the same fricking film stretched out over 4 goddamn hours.

Watchmen extended cut felt like a movie that needed to be as long as it was. ZSJL was just long for no good reason imo. It was still a pretty good movie but I think the 4 hr runtime was more of a selling point than anything else.
Watchmen is the best capeshit movie by far.

This is a Reddit ass post but there’s some truth to it. Snyder is one of the few Hollywood filmmakers right now that has an actual opinion on how a film should be. Is that opinion always correct? No. But he has conviction.

It's genuinely the only good movie Snyder has ever made, and probably will ever make. Not to say that I don't appreciate his other stuff; he has a style at least, though I think it just comes off as laughable most of the time. But I was absolutely floored watching this on release day.
