I feel like John K is like George Lucus, in that the other older guy is more responsible for R&S success, because that recent Kickstarter with just John K sucked balls and even the adult R&S DVD kind of lacked the charm and comedic timing of the old show.

Simpsons yes, Adventure Time itself was not that influential. Adventure Time ushered in the staff that started the era of CN CalArts nepotism we’re still dealing with today. Steven Universe defined everything that would go wrong in that era.

Batman, Ren & Stimpy, and The Simpsons. The holy trio. Pretty much everything that came after is a watered down version of one of those three shows.

The Good: R&S helped raised the bar in terms of animation quality. John K was just being edgy with the show when he was in charge.

The Bad: After Season 2, the quality of the show decreased & you till it was because of the animation. John K got fired by Nick & the animation was done by GamesAnimation. Sadly it also paved the way for more gross-out humor which started in the 80s, which apparently influenced future YouTube animators as well.

The cons outweigh the pros on this.

I’d say gross it has died down quite a lot, at least in America.
Over in John K’s home planet of Canada, it’s still ridiculously popular:

It should have been but it was too high-budget and everything that drew influence from it was basically dead by the late-00s. Damn fricking shame too.

I would never compre to Evangelion. But you are right. It truly is one of the most influential cartoons ever made, and you can see it’s influence in just about many cartoons, specially with SpongeBob and Ghost and Molly McGee. The gross up close ups, the psycho dramas, the cartoon takes and acting, the sponge splatter painting effect started by the great Bill Wray, all of it can be seen in many cartoons.

YES! If we are talking about a more serious action show that spawned numerous imitators, THATS the one. People forget, but the reason why we had so many cool action shows in the 90s was because of the success of BTAS. Even Disney began mimicking it with its Gargoyles cartoon. For crying out loud, this boom in action shows continued all the way up until the late 00s and early 10s. People don’t give BTAS the credit it deserves

Absolutely not! Ren and Stempy was wonderful hilarity. Eva was yet another "Angry drunk girls who act like ugly men yell and scream at everyone around them for NO REASON AT AAAAAAAAALL!" Well, other than the writer being an Omega Male and having no idea what members of the opposite sex do with each other when not having sex. You seriously need to be electrically tortured for even suggesting that Eva is in the same universe as Ren and Stempy.

Or, Ren and Stempy has heart. Eva viciously hates heart. Chalk one up for John K.

      >"Angry drunk girls who act like ugly men yell and scream at everyone around them for NO REASON AT AAAAAAAAALL!"
I'm legitimately trying to figure out what the frick series you're actually talking about here, because it wasn't fricking Evangelion. I can see plenty of criticisms for the show but I can't even parse what the hell you're trying to say with this, so I'm assuming you're getting Eva mixed up with something else. There's only one drunk girl in Eva who's only sometimes drunk and she basically doesn't yell at anyone.

Evangelion revitalized the anime industry in Japan after it was kind of struggling in the early 90s as Japan's economy started to give out and money was being spent less on animation, a lot of series that have totally separate tones wouldn't have even been made without it. I don't even especially care for it but it was extremely important. It's less about direct thematic influence and more how it created a flow of cash for the overall industry again.

You might be more unhinged than "guy" if this is what you truly believe.

Basically R&S both introduced a darker cerebral style to 90's animation and was a "subversive" series that became so imitated it became a genre in and of itself.
