The show makes it clear there is corruption in their politics. It was the biggest reasong Zelenskyi got elected. People were tired of it and wanted a protest vote to someone who was outside the biggest parties.
His own family asking for every possible favor and handout while he tries to stay true to his anti-corruption creates the most laughs in the show.
As a comedy show it was the mirror media tried to hold towards the current politics. And it worked to a degree. But all discussion about the show is nigh impossible thanks to current event.

It's a CIA show, so of course they'd make it a good show, but its aimed at the Ukrainians with the purpose of having them elect Zelensky as president. This ended up being a very consequential tv series! It's probably best exercise of soft power the West has implemented this century. Without this show, Ukraine could have ended up with a much weaker leader - someone who would have given in to Russia by now.
