If you have literally nothing else going on in your life and have high tolerance for watching garbage then sure
/only possible correct answer
It's very diverse, you'll love it ;^)
it's honestly alright. i just wanted to watch it because i read the first book recently and wanted to see how it compared. there's some stupid shit for sure, and the dialogue is pretty bad, but it has its moments.
first episodes are kino, kind of like early lost
If they are constantly watching us and are able to mess with airborne planes, why did the humans expect to launch a space mission without them messing with it?
garbage netflix production, but the concept is kino so I think I will stick with it. Also every single smart and significant and authoritative character seems to be a women. Dont know if its actually like that in the book. I have only seen the first episode
The book has tons more characters overall, most of them are Chinese men.
the characters in the book are much better, even if they're chinese
Majority of the characters are Chinese dudes in the book
>Also every single smart and significant and authoritative
The smartest, most significant and most authoritative character is Thomas Wade. He was the only white man in the books who got shit done, and it's thankfully he wasn't changed in the show.
>thankfully he wasn't changed in the show.
and thankfully they cast Liam Cunningham . He's the ONLY likeable character in the show.
What happens to wade
Been a while but I do remember 2 major points with him
>humans threaten to reveal the location of Earth and SanTi homeworld to the universe
>this actually terrifies them they enter a sort of truce
>they refuse to act because of the "sword holder" who could initiate the signal anytime
>they calculate a 92%+ chance he would actually do it
>60 years ago by and he needs to be replaced
>Wade vs Women
>Women wins, the second she takes control of the detonator the Santi attack
>calculated she could not doom both worlds and work to make sure she wins
>Wade was the correct choice, he WOULD have ended both worlds if he had to
Second thing I remember was he was sole reason a single FTL earth ship was created which saved the main character. Wade is based and did nothing wrong.
You are moronic. You do know almost 100% of all modern gender science is horseshit right? Every single gender "study" is out and out garbage. No one but blue haired c**ts use them for reference. Shoddy work, shoddy studies to try and pretend men and women are totally the same while every human being who has ever interacted with both genders more than twice knows it's a crock of shit.
>You do know almost 100% of all modern gender science is horseshit right?
All, except your own, which is based on what exactly? I'm sure you are very familiar with modern gender science, as if you read any, lol. You sound like the average anti-science rightwinger. Climate change is not real, the vaccines are dangerous, trannies are pedophiles, scientists are all evil marxist israelites, etc
>every human being who has ever interacted with both genders more than twice knows it's a crock of shit
Personal anecdotes are scientifically useless though, thankfully
But Ye Wenjie pushed the button simply because she is a woman, not because of her misantrophy, vengefullness and traumatic life, all of them never appearing in men according to you because... well just because
I mean her first message was from a pacifist. It's not farfetched to assume their entire species might have other pacifists.
>humans threaten to reveal the location of Earth and SanTi homeworld to the universe
I don't quite understand how revealing the homeworld of the Trisolarians is in anyway a threat, if they fled from it in the first place knowing that it was going to be swallowed by one of its three suns a mere 600 years after they have arrived at Earth. It's only a threat IF the location of Earth is revealed in the form of a phyrric victory, knowing that humans are doomed anyway but that the Trisolarians would have to deal with the ramifications of the rest of the galaxy knowing the location of a new world in which they are attempting to recolonize and have no established industry to leverage in the event of new pending attack.
there is a very, very gay theory called "dark forest" in which there's hundreds of advanced civilization and as soon as one broadcasts it's existance, the nearest one will instantly nuke it with full focer, it in fear of being conquered someday by it.
It is very gay, and that's the book base (and probably the series as well) for that "broadcast threat"
Putin is literally doing that right now. This exact second. So your point is invalid.
You don't need to super-emphasize your thirst for wieners in a forest anon.
Dark Forest is really an alternate interpretation of The Killer Star's three rules of alien behavior
1. An alien species will always prioritize it's own survival and well being over ours
2. Dominant species don't become dominant by accident, whatever we encounter will be highly intelligent, with the capacity for aggression and ruthlessness
3. When they look at us, they are going to assume rules 1 and 2 apply and act accordingly
So basically
>1 An alien will act like us
>2 An alien came to be like he is, because he acted like us
>3 When they look at us, will realize we acted like them (who act like us) and act like us (we'll destroy them)
All three assumptions are based on aliens acting like humans, that's medieval times narcissist thinking "we are the center of the universe and everything is like us and want to be us"
That's very stupid considering there's people on earth, right now, that wouldn't want to destroy aliens
Right now.
Not on fiction, there's alive people humans person sapiens, that right now, wouldn't want to destroy aliens.
Not fiction. Yet, your fiction assumes the opposite
That's gay
Aliens acting like Putin would be one of the BETTER scenarios. Because at least we could make sense of it. When in reality if aliens ever showed up the whole situation would probably be weird and super fricked up. Like pissing on us until spores planted themselves on our back and then their bug brood could come eat the scabs off our back type of weird. Just fricked up unfathomable shit that we can't even wrap out heads around because they are aliens and don't think like us.
>the most unfathomable thing he can articulate is being used to grow food
It might just seem like we were being used for food to us. Who knows why their bug brood are eating the scabs off your back. It might be used for ink later on. Or maybe its perfume. Maybe its a ritual sigh of respect. Maybe its a tribute so their space god. Its probably something that we cannot even wrap out heads around. they only thing we can comprehend is that its super fricked up and we cannot stop it once they are here.
you should stop trying to be imaginative
imagine sucking my left nut.
okay, i'm imagining peas in my mouth.
Maybe we're already being observed and they're streaming our shows out there as well
UFO visits are drunk aliens trespassing on controlled worlds and instant execution if they reveal themselves to humans
It's more complicated than anon wrote and not, it's game theory. It works under the assumption that being destroyed is an infinitely negative weight and peaceful coexistence is only some small finite weight. When you play the game under these reasonable assumptions the only thing you can get is, if you find someone destroys them before they find you and destroy you.
nah, this
it just assumes that if we encounter other intelligent life that they'll prioritize their own survival. the aliens don't have to be paranoid or malicious to make a dark forest work, they just have to care more about their species than they do about ours. if we were the more advanced species it would apply to us too, even if we were governed by a peaceful vegan space hippy world conclave or something.
the issue is all about the limits of lightspeed communication. if you're a country, and you encounter another country on earth, you can talk to eachother. you can spy on the other guy. you can establish trade, make deals, if he starts building his military up you can build yours up in response, and maybe things cool off. even if it goes to war, there are ways to avoid going full nuclear apocalypse.
but in space none of that works. if it takes you 200 years to send a message and get a reply, the other side could be doing anything in that time. if they fire the nukes you won't know about it for a century. even if they don't have nukes, even if the other side is cave people at first contact, in the time it takes to normalize relations they could undergo a massive tech revolution and pass you. you have no idea, and it is almost impossible to even establish the other sides' intent or capabilities without taking an existential risk. so you either stay quiet and never make contact, or you fire the nukes first. any other choice would be insane.
This assumes technology in a very, very strange impossble path that suggest you can send destruction to the other side, way faster than sending a message
I'll tell you what
If we ever get to the point where humanity can send destruction to another solar system, I'll make sure my descendants can warn the aliens about it with ample time, just so they can retroactively laugh at your stupid assumptions
Mine isn't that stupid, I assume you won't be able to send destruction faster than a message
Because I already told you, you both like to assume "the aliens will think like us and will want to destroy us to preserve themselves in some primal animal fashion", but forget the part when real humans don't want that (But you don't assume aliens that way)
Don't worry, I'll be that part you like to skip
Code for my kids to track it in 500 years
a510fd8a6w41rf5
it doesn't assume that at all. the "nuke" can be a big rock for all the difference it makes. the weapons don't need to be faster than communication. all you need is for communication to be slower than the time it takes for the other party to change posture.
like you're aware how close we came to the cold war going hot on several occasions, right? and how the lag in communications between washington and moscow contributed to those scenarios playing out? that was in a world where instantaneous communication was possible, and actual communication happened on the order of hours or at most days. and where the other parties were all humans, and you could make reasonable assumptions about their intent. you get none of those advantages in this scenario. if you extend an olive branch and the other side doesn't take it, that's it, you're done.
Even if our nuclear missiles take minutes to arrive, we still, theoretically, could alter it's path mid air if you change your mind
The only reason we don't do this, is once we press the red button you are allowed to rationalize yourself into doing the right thing, and just stare at the horizon for that couple minutes.
Now, if you press the red button, and the nuclear missile you launched has to go to mars and get back and you have 6 months to think about it, that's a reality you are leaving out of the question, just assuming aliens or humans would press the red button, put their fingers on their ears and go LALALALA for 300 years
You can send particles near the speed of light so fast they there would barely be any warning. All you need is particles accelerators or ways of using the sun.
He nearly saves the solar system, but unfortunately in the end gets fricked over by a woman (Jin's character).

6 hour version instead of boring 22 hour version.
This is neat but you can just read the book and it will only take you an hour more.
I'm pretty sure I could knock off the entire trilogy in a weekend faster than watching that slog
>here's your katana wielding ethereally beautiful dream woman bro
and no, they won't recast her
I don't know man
There is a lot of diversity going on. Strong woman, black science man. Bazinga le science rocks! Reddit !
It's shit.
Casting and acting is bad but the story and plot is pure cosmic horror kino.
Yes, these guys deliver certified adaptation kino just like the first 4 seasons of GoT
Holy frick the nanofiber prostitute is so fricking annoying.
>WE...KILLED...LE PEOPLE...TO LE SAVE...THE WORLD??!?!?! AHHHHH I'M LOSING MY MIND
>the nanofiber prostitute
she was the worst thing in the entire season
>she was the worst thing in the entire season
I hated all of the brat pack science redditors. They couldn't go a single sentence without using 'frick' for effect, it was exhausting. The dialogue was so shit in all the modern setting. But everything in the 60s was really great. It was like it was written by two different writers. If course in the book none if those annoying characters even existed.
She's nice to look at but at the same time it's laughable that she's supposed to be this super smart scientist lady
You don't understand, she just wants to have a baby,
wtf, I will fix her
>34
damn
Literally one of the hottest women alive and she can't find a good man? Sure.
Didn't she get caught having sex with her boyfriend's brother?
That was just made up tabloid stuff, she's just dated a ton of actors and celebs.
She let the Lisan al Gaib hit it.
If men avoid this Mexican c**t, must be for a good fricking reason ,lesson to be learn here folks
There was plenty of science woman in the original why did Wang get gender swapped?
It's a female driven show.
It's pretty good. They've done a good job of un-Chinesing the book
>They've done a good job of un-Chinesing the book
by turning it into american diversityslop
citizen_kane_clapping.webm
They turned a chinese man into a hot latino prostitute, based.
They turned a chinese man into a white guy, based.
They turned a chinese man into a black dude, unbased.
You can smell the diversity reeking off it. Wouldn't be that bad if dnd didn't think the oxford 5 was a good idea.
Nothing wrong with any of that
The oxford 5 was completely moronic and it also felt like wade was just some batman tier character and not basically running the country. Even stargate felt more real.
ill help you out anon
>worth watching
>soft sci-fi that thinks its hard sci-fi
NO
>11 dimension sub atomic supercomputers that communicate via quantum entanglement
pretty much on the same level as putting jan 6th in star trek reboot
How do you know what homosexual nerd category the author thinks it is? What kind of gaylord even cares about this shit?
yes, for the girl with the sucky sucky lips
the chinese show is better by far
This guy is correct, I watched it and its nothing I've expected from chinese production and acting. recommended it to a cousin , MIT professor, he watched 18tr of material in 3 days ( he never "wastes" time on movies or TV shows)
So, yes, find original Chinese show, and get used to reading subtitles.
Does the chinese version show how everything is Mao's revolution's fault?
Tencent version better showcases Wenje's suffering on radar peak and all the betrayals she had to deal with, including one big one of her own, but Netflix includes her father dying by the hands of frenzied midwit students and the subsequent denouement with one of the killers. I give netflix the slight edge regarding this.
Great. I'm not missing anything then
Netflix has cut the fat decently so far. It's still coherent and contains all the highlights from the book
Hardly. They don't show real Trisolaris and they omit a bunch of interesting moments during the creation of Sophon which has to do with dimensionality - a concept that will be even more relevant later on.
Imo the chinese version is an improvement in just about everything except telling Ye Wenje's complete story.
>they omit a bunch of interesting moments during the creation of Sophon
this and glossing over the human computer are the only things I don't like so far
They skip too fast over the nerdy shit, but everything else is better than I would've imagined
It's not if you don't like this the shit chinese show is not the alternative you are looking for. Unless that alternative includes, shitty script, shitty acting, shitty casting, shitty cgi, shitty editing, shitty camerawork etc..
?si=HDtrDzy4QU-WqN7a
No. The books are also really dumb when you start actually thinking about what's going on.
Better than the book and definitely waaaay better than chinkshit adaptation. Heard that abridget chong version is decent tho
No it has women in it. Literally woke basedboy reddit cuck garbage
>kino visuals
>Cool story
>Interesting sci-fi concepts
>Annoying ass smug characters and BORING interpersonal drama
I'm so fricking conflicted. I've watched 3 episodes so far and I'm kinda scared of getting invested because it's DnD and there's a few red flags already
>Kino visuals
The cgi is really bad
Imagine how cool the Panama canal scene would have been with practical effects
>The cgi is really bad
What the hell did they do with the 160 million for 8 episodes?
This shit looks like the submarine from LOST.
>The cgi is really bad
I thought the rehydration stuff looked pretty sick tbh
A lot of the interpersonal drama is exclusive to the show.
Yeah I'm not surprised kek
It's like they can't stop themselves dropping in cringe dialogue from time to time either in each episode
it follows the book pretty well and is worth finishing. D&D suck but they can adapt a book well
>it follows the book pretty well
Also up is down. How the hell can people say things like this? It follows the book next to not at all.
You haven't read the book
Give it a rest. You're completely and totally full of shit. People will read, well they'll listen, but you get my point. The gymnastics one has to do to match this with the books is astounding. Its loosely inspired; A RoEP Story.
Which story beat is missing? What part of the plot has changed?
keep watching, honestly gets way more interesting 4 episodes onwards
At least watch to episode 5.
dumb and moron lining their pockets
The author makes a clear case against feminism and globohomosexual later in the story. It's an important plot point. It will never be adapted the way it is. They've already diversified the cast as it is. Trusting Americans to adapt anything is a mistake.
It kinda is, it shows that a feminized society was completely fricked and useless and only a society with real men had any real chance.
>The author makes a clear case against feminism and globohomosexual later in the story.
You are delusional, and obsessed
>>The author makes a clear case against feminism and globohomosexual later in the story.
>You are delusional, and obsessed
Not him but even I know that he's right.
A woman started the whole mess by seeking them.
A woman doomed humanity by replying because she's full of emotional rage.
A woman dooms humanity with minutes of being in power after a man had kept things right for years.
Women were what destroyed mankind.
I lost so hard at the sword holder shit, 50 years of staring at a wall wasted and wade was dangerously based.
Except her gender is completely irrelevant. The character could be a male and nothing in the story would change.
You mean like all the other potential sword holders? You forgot the book didn't you?
>Except her gender is completely irrelevant
It is completely relevant. The author wrote two characters, one male, one female.
The male is the logical one, the female is the emotional illogical one. Are you playing stupid?
Because the author is a very obvious mysoginist. Why should such disgusting views be propagated to modern audiences?
>Because the author is a very obvious mysoginist
It looks more like you are just projecting your own misogyny
How is it relevant? The genders could be switched and the characters and their action's would play out the same
>How is it relevant? The genders could be switched and the characters and their action's would play out the same
>If my grandmother had wheels, she would have been a bike
>this character's gender is the cause behind her actions
This is how stupid you sound
>>this character's gender is the cause behind her actions
>
>This is how stupid you sound
Oh shit. Now I understand what you are about. You are one of those delusional ignorant thinkers that actually believe men and woman are the same when reacting to situations and events. We do not.
>You are one of those delusional ignorant thinkers that actually believe men and woman are the same when reacting to situations and events. We do not.
I guess that's just your opinion, because this is't what science says about genders.
And even if it was, it's still irrelevant in this scenario, since generalizations are applied on groups, not on individuals
chuds, why do you have issues with black aristocrats and intellectuals? the only reason we didn't have a black golden age was because imperialism. but now that they are on equal playing field you are intimidated? genuine question.
speak to me when the Chinese or African's have chip fabs that aren't 20 years behind.
brah chinese literally run semiconductor industry
No they are the worker bee's using western technology. If the west didn't give them those expensive lithography machines they would not be producing anything.
Haiti try it and look them now, cannibals runs that shitty slum country, want more evidence ???
Thanks for reminding me how much I fricking hate Cheng Xin. I cannot fricking stand her and I can't believe she gets away with murdering the solar system almost singlehandedly. She should have been trampled to death right then and there when she went blind.
At least Ye Wenjie had some semblance of a moral code/system of beliefs, she was a complete character and very driven toward her own set of goals. She meant to frick humanity over like she did and she doubled down on it her entire life. There are some other very solid, driven female characters in the books too, when I was first reading through them I thought Cixin Liu was actually trying to say something positive about women. But then in comes Cheng Xin acting like a fricking spastic moron for no real reason other than "muh matronly instincts." I was so incredibly angry through the whole third book, I couldn't believe the efforts of every other woman in the book was getting thrown out of the window for a final message of "women am I right??"
Speaking of, I wonder how this shitshow of an adaptation is going to handle any of the end. Maybe they'll do some crazy script gymnastics and it'll be some random man who causes all of the problems in the Death's End material
Yes but don't assume it has much relation to the book. If they had named it something else and only merely mentioned it has some basis on the book it would've been better.
The arrogant latina ruins it.
Just watch the tencent fan edit instead
https://disembiggened.com/
The netflix one is terrible
hm
I didn't watch the entire thing, but I don't like that it cut two moments that I consider highlights
>the mother fricking life forms in the 2d plane that attack trisolaris, thus failing the creation of an earlier sophon
>princeps wondering if the sophon can become original size while his underling panics and tells it to ignore that command
Very, very bad thing to not include imo
>becomes the main character in your path
OUTTA MY WAY SANTEE FRICKING SHITS
It's not bad. It's essentially a British version of the books with all the concurrent plots running at the same time to be comprehensible to the audience.
The biggest effect of this is that a bunch of characters who were almost completely independent of each other in the books are now all good friends in the same town in England which makes the "world" of the show feel very small.
But almost all of the elements of the vital characters are transposed onto the cast and almost all of the important moments in the first book are there. And a full cast will probably work better for TV than an anthology would.
It's pretty good actually (I'm on ep5 rn)
I'd say it's even better than the book. Really solid adaptation
Story and characters are mostly fine, but there is one particular plotline that drags too long and gets too much attention. Pacing is weird in places.
I was generally not impressed with the CGI setpieces. Rehydration scene was good. Sky flickering was crap. The video game world in general felt like an afterthought. I would have preferred a mystery vibe for a little longer before they jumped straight into the XCOM shit.
Autistic Chinese teenagers made a more faithful and interesting adaptation of the book in Minecraft. If you want to watch a 3 Body adaptation that's still the best one that's come out. I would only recommended the netflix show if you're A) moronic and/or B) have never read the book
Seriously, it's incredible how horribly they handled this. I usually despise all of the "muh diversity/muh woke" homosexuals b***hing on here but the casting is actually abysmal and the general ""westernized"" feeling of the cast and script makes no sense for this fricking CHINESE sci fi story where 85% of the cast is CHINESE and 60% of the story is in FRICKING CHINA
My imagination has a higher resolution than that shit and it doesn't speak moon rune glop glack.
>I usually despise all of the "muh diversity/muh woke" homosexuals b***hing on here
yeah, opinion discarded. You’re the reason why the things you’re complaining about continue to exist.
>DOOD IM LIKE, THIS HOTSHOT CRAAAZY SCIENTIST BUT LIKE, DO DRUGS, FRICK WHITE CHICKS, AND GET HIGH ALL DAY EVERY DAY LMAO XDDD
god i fricking hate this character
how could dabid and dabid turn based luo ji into... this monstrosity? it's literally a horrific caricature of the original character
sorry forgot the pic, it's saul durand im talking about btw
no.
Watch the Chinese one, it's better by a mile.
no Black folk
no annoying women
no western Netflix garbage
no good actors
no good acting
no good cgi
no good script
no good cgi
stop recommending people 30 episodes of shit
It is easy to believe once you realize all tv is woke now so you either watch nothing or you just watch old shit.
Nope.
BOooooooOOOoring.
And woke btw.
It sniffs its own farts too much I gave up 3 episodes in
I was skeptical since it's the GOT guys but it was really good.
>I was skeptical since it's the GOT guys but it was really good.
I refuse to believe anyone can believe this without lack of intelligence or an ulterior motive.
Why? Everybody loved GOT and how they adapted it until they ran out of source material and had to make up their own stuff, and they botched it.
That won't happen here since they won't run out of books, they're working with the full thing already.
Because no one who has seen the Netflix version would speak highly of it. It would take someone rather stupid.
Not true, most people enjoy it
And most people are pretty fricking stupid, you included. The show's shit
What's your problem with it?
Flip a coin, it'll either be "I hate women and black people" or "not exactly like book so wrong"
Because these are the only two reasons why someone would dislike this shitshow. The thought that people as moronic like you get to breathe the same air as the rest of us upsets me
whats it about, i dont care enuf to google and i have no verification period
ayylien invasion
kool, downloading cause i liked how the boat went boom in some webm
How does the Netflix version compare to the Chinese version that was also released not long ago?
The Chinese version is shit awful and torture to watch
Chinese version takes 30 episodes to do what Netflix did in 5. In truth less than 5 since Chinese version is book one, while Netflix integrates book two/three stuff as well.
No. Utter shite.
Netflix: dumbed down, fast paced, annoying characters.
Chiner: faithful to the books, extremely slow and with filler on top of that, flat characters (like the book).
forgot to quote
How are normies liking it? Saw the data where it had a mid premiere for Netflix shows. Subtitles, Chinese stuff and just the mention of particles and physics in the first 10 minutes seem like a massive barrier of entry
They skip over the nerdy stuff, sadly
Glad I read the book, still enjoying the netflix show
My knuckledragging coworker who liked Rings of Power liked it and my coworker who read the book disliked it. Says everything I need to know.
It's rotten from start to finish. It's obvious they decided to make it a strong female series.
They changed so many characters to female. Females direct the dialogue of every scene and males are background characters.
thread.
Wait. WAIT. Did you just seriously post a Tiktock post from some woman as proof of something?
Seriously?
Hes the gay scriptwirter for Dunce2; womans expanded.
fricking hell, this is is cringy as frick
>that low simmering mistrust/disappointment at having a female dr
unintentionally based
I can't believe they made Luo Ji a literal n*gger.
The shitflix show is ruined.
I wonder why they race swapped yet another character but then made him a stoner verbal punching bag for the woman?
Because the character in the book is also a massive loser who eventually comes good
and you think that's a good reason for making the main protagonist a raging unlikable b***h?
Some people are beyond hope.
Jin is the main protagonist, not Auggie
The character that Auggie is mostly made up of plays no role past the first book, so she's changed to slot into Saul's plot and have more use.
They used Auggie front and centre in all the promo because they knew Western audiences wouldn't click if it was an Asian, lmao. Jin is the main protag but it's not surprising people would get confused
I'm not sure that's even really misleading, she is initially front and center being the one with the countdown and the target of the blinking sky and all. It's just that Jin takes over as the more important one long term.
>Western audiences wouldn't click if it was an Asian
maybe they would have if they had casted a cute Asian as Jin
Auggie's actress is more attractive than Jin's. It really is that simple.
Just want to point out that the next thing the book equivalent of this guy does is take Da Shi aside and say "so, I was thinking about what the perfect woman would be, if I give you all the details, can you go fetch her for me using my Wallfacer authority?"
Da Shi does it, and five years later his precioust waifu and their daughter are put into cryosleep by the government to get him off his ass and back to solving the San Ti problem, and he has the revelation that whoa, she wasn't just some actress playing to the script he provided, they really did just find his perfect waifu so now he's re-motivated to save humanity
In short, he kinda sucks in the Netflix version because he's meant to, like the original
If you want to watch some scifi then yes, it's only 7ish hours long and some cool ideas/semi decent cgi payoffs. You are better off reading the books. Shitflix will not renew this and dumb and dumber are moronic.
Do not listen to the homosexuals telling you to watch the chink version, it's 30 episodes of gruel and slop read the book instead.
>Do not listen to the homosexuals telling you to watch the chink version, it's 30 episodes of gruel and slop read the book instead.
kek I actually agree. I watched about 11 episodes because everyone told me the Chinese version was slow but better and truer to the book. Holy frick I got filtered by episode 11 HARD. That shit was mad boring and I nearly fell asleep. Having them explain what a fricking computer was in Chinese soldier form for 40+ minutes was a slog.
if you can get over this c**ts horrible acting, her mouth being open the entire show, her character being a c**t to everyone and everything, and her stupid agape plastic surgery look ,sure!
I don't understand her character's logic. Sure, children died as a result of her tech being used in Panama, and she disagrees with Wade's methods. But an interstellar race is coming to conquer humanity. What does she propose humanity do to combat this threat? She provides lots of criticisms but zero solutions. What's her endgame? Does she want to see humanity get wiped out?
The invasion is centuries away. It's basically an abstract concept not an urgent problem that requires dicing children.
To her, a civilians scientist, at least.
She's hot and has dick sucking lips, that's enough. They also show her in lingerie in one scene, which I jerked off to.
Are the aliens lying about not liking lies and not being able to lie? It makes no sense at all.
they can't lie since all thoughts are communicate on their bodies and they exchange information through light. Thus they are spooked and have to reconsider what to do
But wasn't there an original messenger who told Chinese lady not to reach out, that their race would destroy humans? There's been dishonesty and withheld information from the start. Plus they orchestrate the murder whoever gets in the way of their goals. It's just too farfetched that lying is some incomprehensible thing for this advanced species until humans explained it
No he basically sacrificed himself because he was a pacifist. They found out, questioned him and he had to say everything.
>But wasn't there an original messenger who told Chinese lady not to reach out, that their race would destroy humans?
...the messenger's warning was completely accurate?
If you mean the messenger is deceiving it's own people, it didn't and couldn't.
Basically, the aliens form of communication works by projecting their thoughts - they don't know any difference between speech and thought, nor the concept of withholding information (until they learn it from humanity)
It's a popular show rn you mongoloid. Nothing in the show shills china and even the book isn't that bad in those terms. The slanties even worship whites in them.
Saw the first episode today with my wife and it was OK, just not a lot happening so far. Wong from Dr Strange seems pretty cool in it although it has a bit of "filmed during the pandemic" vibe to it, in that Wong and his mate seem to be the only people who work for this big a as government agency and have a massive building all to themselves, I wonder if the fact that they seem to not be allowed to use lights or computers in the building is a plot point. My wife got a bit annoyed with the subtitles for the Chinese bits and pointed out that with the budget they had they could easily have dubbed them, which is true, the budget they have they probably could have afforded someone like Awkwafina too so it would still sound Chinese.
I will watch episode 2 but I can't say I am wildly excited yet, anyone knows of it hits up and also if the Chinese student gets her baps out? There was a lot of tit in early Game of Thrones, but as it cut when they were about to hump in the work camp thing, I am worried there might not be much in the way of boob in this show.
The only nudity the show has is one sequence a few episodes from where you are, and it's not any of the main cast.
>can't read subs
>concerned about boob content
Netflix and D&D target audience here
Despite how much Cinemaphile hates it, yes it's very very good. Ship scene was kino.
women are smart frick you chuds
Totally from their own merits of course.
It's science ficiton so of course women are leaders and take up prominent roles.
of course. check out this beautiful diverse cast!
>token black when london is like 40% black
racist showrunners
keep being you anons, take your pills
i miss when nuclear physicists looked like THIS
She nearly ruined that movie. Worst Bond girl.
Yes, but Denise Richards.
It's good enough to watch but not good enough to recommend to your normie coworkers at the water cooler.
You have to REALLY be into this kind of thing to dig it. If you are a casual forget it. There's practically zero aesthetics to the show except for the kino China flashbacks and the pace of the entire thing is really slow. But if you are a hardcore sci-fi nerd then yeah go for it. I will be watching the entire series if it doesn't get cancelled for low ratings. I haven't read the books b.t.w.
>dooms humanity
what the frick was her problem
She wasn't sitting on my dick. That was her problem.
many chinks feel death is better than continuing to live in china
She had some legitimate grievances with humanity.
>dad is brutally murdered in front of her for believing in objective reality instead of the delusion of the party
>his death is because her mother betrayed him to satisfy her own ego
>the cultural revolution is an absolute shitshow for China and does massive damage to its stability and leads to immense socioeconomic harm
>is given an ultimatum by the people who killed her father to betray her father and smear his name; who was completely innocent in all of it, to save herself
Her grievances were legitimate and her misanthropy contributing to sending the message back to the Trisolarians was acceptable. Nothing good came out of the cultural revolution in China.
the character Auggie is absolutely terrible and the woman who portrays her is one of the worst actors I've ever seen. there's some beyond cringe 'woke' lines in the beginning (like the bar scene where the two women get hit on) and I felt like the introduction of all the characters was just a complete jumble. the cgi during the VR game sections looks like absolute shit.
if you can get by all that and stick through the first half of the show to where it sorta starts to reveal the issues presented in the 2nd book I found it really hooked me in. I had read the first book but didn't really feel the need to read the second but after getting an idea from the show I immediately went and bought book #2 and spent the next three days reading it.
>there's some beyond cringe 'woke' lines in the beginning (like the bar scene where the two women get hit on)
That scene was added WAY after shooting at the very very last minute. The produces said they needed a way to quickly convey their background and qualifications. I literally just read an article about today it on some pozzed stie on my newsfeed praising how strong and brave the added scene was.
im 31 and already feel like im not in the target audience for this
every scene feels so vapid and spectacle-y, i can feel the filmmakers jangling their keys in front of my face
Your fine up to 5, 6 onwards drags because the mystery is gone
>Your fine up to 5, 6 onwards drags because the mystery is gone
I kind of felt the opposite. Because up until that point all of those boring cancer scenes were killing me they were so boring and seemed so pointless and BOORRING. at least there was a point to the character after that towards the end.
I think the biggest issue is that it needed to be at least 12 episodes instead of 8, to flesh out certain plot elements more; especially in spending a bit more time on the scientific theorizing and the introspection between all the characters on why physics as we know it is breaking down; and the interaction between the scientific community and judgement day (frontier of science). Alternatively, more time being spent in the VR game understanding the "levels" to understanding. The Chinese adaptation on Amazon spent a full episode worth of run time in establishing that there are chaotic and stable eras and they're threats to the civilization which is causing immense strain on its ability to evolve and persist.
Anyone else sorta shocked that netflix allowed a negative portrayal of the communist revolution in china?
No, why?
Personally I think us trying to contact aliens IRL is a terrible idea. Like people think aliens are gonna show up and let humanity sit as chairman of the galactic council. When in reality they will probably look like chuthulu or shome shit and eat us or use us for fertilizer as a sign of friendship or respect because they are fricking aliens and don't think like us. And there is nothing that we could do about it but get eaten as a sight of respect.
So are Chinese allowed to criticise the cultural revolution now? It seems a main point of the book is how bad it was to live through that period.
idk but supposedly China as mad at Netflix about the show.
That's just Chinese people chimping out on the internet, same as the people crying about women and black people existing in the Netflix version here
the book was published under a regime that was comfortable with criticizing chinese history. the tencent series basically ignores it and ends up making "its better than living in china" the motivation to doom humanity, but they didn't catch that.
The publishers of the book unironically took the opening chapters about the Cultural Revolution and shoved them into the middle of the book so government censors wouldn't be pissed off immediately
The English release of the book (and the tv show restore) it to the beginning.
>Thlee boddy plobrem
Stop watching chink propaganda anons
Just load up an audiobook or video essay overview of the books. You will have a fulfilling experience compared to the brainrot you get from watching this mediocre subliminal woke netflix diarrhea.
is there a more pathetic man?
lol, the Chinese character he was based on for starters
>Super MEGA simp. Get cancer. Get head chopped off.
Plus his scenes were FRICKING BORING. holy hell i wanted to die just getting through his fricking scenes that wouldn't end.
Cinemaphile the character
>incel
>underachiever
>simps for 6/10 Asian girls
>mind wanders aimlessly for the rest of his life
he is actually the most special snowflake character in the whole show
which view of aliens is bleaker, 3 body problem or blindsight?
3 Body
>there's lots of other aliens out there
>many of them are more intelligent and advanced than we are
>they're kind of like us
>we're doomed no matter what because everyone is shoot first, ask questions later
blindsight
>there's lots of other aliens out there
>many of them are more intelligent and advanced than we are
>they are not anything like us, to the point that communication is impossible
>they're not naturally hostile, we're doomed only because we attack them first
The chinese series is comfy so far after watching the new one, the mc, late night scenes and ost is good
The first few episodes were good then the show got quite boring. The thriller, sci-fi aspect was all gone and replaced with bogus screenplay.
CGI in a lot of scenes were garbage. Acting was on average with some of them being pretty good. Story taken from the books is solid.
I have it solidly in the "good enough to watch but not good enough to recommend" tier.
>agustina
>""auggie"
>not agu
are amerimutts moronic or what
They probably read "Agus" like "Auggoos" and short that into auggie
I finished the season and have never read the books or watched the Chinese series.
The base science is interesting. The show itself was good enough. The Red Guard girl was homicidally cute. I hope the messenger makes it in the future.
The alien probes seem OP. They could just Chernobyl every nuclear plant at the same time but are just curious to see what the insects are doing.
Yes, it was amazing. Only downside is I want a season 2 right now
