The basic principle of a man with the power to grant wishes filtering people's wishes and fulfilling the ones that are good for society is just common sense. But I'm sure they're gonna show him rejecting some harmless/beneficial wishes for no good reason other than to establish him as a bad guy/control freak.
Feels like a metaphor for rich and powerful people or something, but it really quickly sounds ridiculous when you try to apply it to reality.

His reasoning makes perfect sense, but they'll show up refusing to grant wishes for petty, spiteful reasons, instead of having the Strong Independent Black girl simply misunderstanding his intent, which is that you can't grant every fricking wish because that's stupid and catastrophic.

      >instead of having the Strong Independent Black girl simply misunderstanding his intent, which is that you can't grant every fricking wish because that's stupid and catastrophic.
That's the plot of the movie based on the trailer. She sees the destructiveness of the ability.

Plot of the movie from the trailer is that Wish King is evil and petty and spiteful, so don't expect an ending where its revealed that he was actually a good guy.

So far his worst quality is that he's vain, but fundamentally he's right to only grant wishes for the good of the kingdom. To do otherwise would lead to playing favorites or abusing his power as king

I wouldn't expect nuance from Nu Disney, he's going to end up being a greedy charlatan

You know, this plot of "overthrow the filter" could be interesting if the protag actually succeeds and then it actually reveals how overthrowing the wish filter can be a bad thing as you're basically letting people do literally whatever they want.
But because this is nu-Disney, they're obviously not going to do that. Pussies.
