Isn't weird that TMNT and all the rip-offs that by default had anthro characters never had much success with artists? how is it possible that this character does not have even 1% of the art that Gadget has?
Isn't weird that TMNT and all the rip-offs that by default had anthro characters never had much success with artists? how is it possible that this character does not have even 1% of the art that Gadget has?
Nobody watched Biker Mice and I think the likes of Street Sharks and Xtreme Dinosaurs just were really unattracttive to a majority of furgays. Gadget was both popular, cute, and likable. I think that's really what hooks furgays, it's not simple enough to say ""here's an anthro, go fricking nuts" they need a bit of a hook.
Then again I have seen them do more with less.
Street Sharks was ahead of time, ten years later is when anthro sharks rised popularity
god I hate how furries draw Sharks, making them look so shit instead of like the actual god damn animal...and what's with the stupid ass fin ears they're always drawn with?? Oh also Vizie's a hack and children can make better character designs then her lol
I liked both but I'm not a furry I just think dinosaurs and sharks are cool
I used to watch the shit out of Biker Mice From Mars. Little kids have zero taste. Remember, they even thought a Robocop cartoon was a good idea back in the day.
>Robocop cartoon
Underrated waifu though.
>Street Sharks and Xtreme Dinosaurs just were really unattracttive to a majority of furgays
Speak for yourself.
I want an Extreme Dinosaur as my husbando, but I just can't choose. HELP!
Mouse Sexo
Hardass military women don't do it for them. (i.e. they be gay)
>Vinnie rejected this for generic human woman
AMOFH is based, you philistine.
homo
>Generic
She's hardly that
she is just april with long hair?
She's a capable mechanic, not reporter who needs constant help.
hey don't insult my wife
your "wife" often hangs out with 4 mutant reptiles living in the sewers. good luck washing off that stench.
she does that herself, with unsafe industrial soaps from the eighties
>rare barefoot April
nice find anon.
Let's just be honest and admit that Vinnie and Throttle's girls are both top tier.
>"Throttle, try to remember the basics of CQC."
>Charlie
>generic
Uhhh, he didn't reject her. She was kidnapped
you didn't watch the 2006 show?, she was jealous of charlene
this one was atrocious. Look how they massacred my boy.
Biker Mice from Mars bombed in America but was widely popular in Eastern Europe. It was like the TMNT of Poland
No, it did pretty well in America until Power Rangers killed every talking animal show.
man i wonder how that happened because recently i rewatched some power rangers episodes and they were cringe as shit, bull and skull are insufferable
>No, it did pretty well in America until Power Rangers killed every talking animal show.
how old are you? by mid 90s i got my first work as a clerk on a toy store, biker mice from mars was pushed a lot, but toys/merch didn't sell well. Also, second season got 39 episodes because the first 13 did well, but didn't meet the expectations and that's why third season got 13 episodes again before disappear into the oblivion.
Never understand why this had sort of success, everything looked like a poor's man TMNT, beside Konami game, everything related to the franchise was the embodiment of bad taste.
>Also, second season got 39 episodes because the first 13 did well, but didn't meet the expectations and that's why third season got 13 episodes again before disappear into the oblivion.
Wasn't 65 episodes the standard for syndication?
Third season got 13 episodes but only to meet syndication standar, that was because the show was already dead and cancelled.
Always blows my mind that there were 2 cartoons about anthropomorphic dinosaurs and they were both trend hoppers. Left was hopping on the Transformers/Thunderclaps trend and right was hopping on TMNT trend.
also extreme dinosaurs had jurassic park hype, sometimes I wonder how these shows flopped
Shame nobody remembers Dino-Riders either
Better question. Why the frick isn't the original Biker Mice from Mars on any streaming site or have a complete series DVD set?
Because Disney. But who cares, the entire series is on YouTube.
Then Disney saw this and decided to do the same but with ducks
In the late 90s, when TMNT was beyound dead and Power Rangers was losing steam.
Also Eisner was big into brand cross-promotion. They just acquired a hockey team and made 3 kids movies.
>TFW the Mighty Ducks were completely absent in the 2017 Ducktales show.
>There wasn’t even a nod like with Gargoyles.
I thought for a second OP meant all the shitty TMNT ripoff comics, but yeah, the cartoon launched a second wave of ripoffs, didn't it?
Feels bad. Rise had loads of background mutant/yokai waifus but they never got any traction. breasts, ass, they had it all.
Few babes in those.
the 2006 show had even more
Non-animated characters get zero attention really.
It's easier to watch and post a cartoon clip than it is collecting images/reading a comic.
Book characters get literally zero art no matter what
>book series about regular cats
>from outta nowhere a cat strip club with mentions of the main villains ex having a huge ass
I noticed that furries rarely seem to gravitate to anthro media in comics, just webcomics. Things like TMNT or Blacksad (ironically) aren't that huge with furries.
IDW's TMNT introduced a literal queer, communist furry city and the furry community did not care nor notice. Most TMNT fanart that is being made these days is for Rise and most of the people making that only care about gay incest shipping.
Can you blame them for not running with that shitshow in general? Not to mention most of those anthros are just humans transformed, the pig there even needs a wig. Alopex, from when the early comic was readable, had a moderately good reception.
>book series about regular cats
>from outta nowhere a cat strip club with mentions of the main villains ex having a huge ass
...Do tell
Furries are into transformation as a fetish, also. If anything, you'd think furries would be all over a story about humans being turned into furries. Y'know, if the Mutant Town shitshow was actually about anything at all.
I had a dumb idea one time about people turning into their fursonas.
I got the idea watching the Krystal VA being really pathetic about her one claim to fame "being the real Krystal" and her turning into the blue space fox
>Furries are into transformation as a fetish, also.
Fortunately, not all furries share all fetishes.
I might daydream about that kind of thing here and there but I’d never voluntarily go for it. What gets my dick hard doesn’t need to be my whole life or identity. Aside from maybe a bored Google employee, there isn’t a soul alive who knows what I’m into and if I have my way it’s gonna stay that way
Doesn't necessarily have to be about wanting the story to be real. Just that furries should, hypothetically, be on board with a TF story where thousands of people get turned into furries. It's a moot point with the TMNT comic, since the execution and aftermath of that story were fricking awful, but the premise didn't even vaguely entice the furry community at all. Which mostly speaks to how detached TMNT is from furries in general, and also how poorly the IDW run has been at catching anyone's attention, even when they are openly and aggressively pandering.
I think most people understand that their weird fetishes wouldn't fully jive with reality. Like, no one would want to be a giant fox if they were the only one in the world and they would be treated like a freak and carted off by the feds. Even if that sort of thing didn't happen, living your fetish at all times becomes insanely depressing when you've still gotta go to your shitty job and live your shitty life, only now with like... I dunno.. beachball size fox breasts or whatever? Fantasies stays fantasy for a reason.
Nine lives of remeo crumb, the strip club is brought up fairly consistently. Don't remember much specifically just the fact cats drink whiskey, cat strippers dancing on stage, villains ex comes in one chapter and a patron pinches her ass and she claws his eye out. The book specifically describes how huge her ass is compared to the dancers on stage.
I wouldn't reccomend the series though.
>I wouldn't reccomend the series though.
Thanks for the extra heads up. Maybe that's why it didn't catch.
Reminds me of Unnatural, which I don't hear much about. What a waste of a hot piggy babe on a kinda edgy comic with social critique or whatever, I'd be all over it if it was a slice of life comedy.
The first book is decent, then until the author gets to her next major plot point in book fricking 4 the author spins her wheels. Each major book was decent, the filler books (2, 3, 5, 7) are horrible.
Like I thought a part in book 2 was just the MC being a stupid kid and randomly there's a british cat that comes in only to die horribly over and over again contributing nothing but page numbers
Everytime I hear IDW is losing money, my poor, withered heart gets an extra beat
This image makes me so mad. I will now listen to 2000's rap music
When will this shit comic series finally get canceled? Real tired of this entire shit fest. Armageddon Game the so called big event ended with a whimper no one cared about the story and no one cared about the finale. And now that the comic is helmed by the same trash troony that was ruining it for multiple years simply let this trash end.
WTF Just when I thought IDW was sinking or swimming
>Armageddon Game the so called big event
thanks for remind me how it shitty was
>I noticed that furries rarely seem to gravitate to anthro media in comics, just webcomics. Things like TMNT or Blacksad (ironically) aren't that huge with furries.
im going to take a wild guess and bet that most furries were latchkey kids and pretty much went to school and home. If it wasn't on tv or a game they could get at walmart, they didnt know about it. Very little going to comic shops.
Or at least that is the case with modern furries.
I also feel like there was a secret pre tmnt wave of furries in comic land that fizzled out. in the 80s. Sometimes when Im flipping through dollar boxes I find really weird fricking furry comics. I really wonder what there story was because you never see modern furries talk about them
>Very little going to comic shops
the sonic comic was an exception because being an archie comic it had grocery store distrubution during the height of sonic.
latchkey kids usually had some way to get sonic. The games, the two different cartoons, the comic, etc.
Blame social media. The webcomic community is, by virtue of that whole "web" thing, just one click away from the furry community. Many furry artists have webcomics themselves. Print comics are nowhere near that level of convenience for easy spreading. And then there's the fact that a lot of print comics kind of fall outside of the visual language of furries, probably at least partially intentionally. Take Blacksad, for instance. One of the downright most common complains about that comic is that every woman in it that's intended to be attractive loses so many animal features that it's sometimes hard to tell what kind of animal they're even supposed to be. And that sort of thing tends to happen a lot. I see people horndogging over Cheetah from Wonder Woman, but it's rarely over the weirdly human-faced versions.
Kind of ironic, given that furries came from print comics in the first place. But even back then, they were their own thing.
furries don't really read comics or books that much
most furry art just comes from video games or cartoons
this is also true now that the furry art/porn game has gone big
hell, at this point I would argue that for a lot of creators they only bother with actual media creations when the fire's hot to get eyes on themselves to fish for commissions as I see this kind of thing a lot more now
>furries don't really read comics or books that much
No one really does. We're on the comics board and the only way to get some Cinemaphile users to read anything is to spoonfeed them storytimes.
Furry art comminity became basically self-sufficient. Furries will just follow other furry OCs now that the market is so huge. Furry art styles look like nothing in mainsteam comics or cartoons now.
nick and judy are super generic and they are very popular
That's more of an outlier and the furry community grows itself by the occasional new big thing. Loona is another example. But in 10 years, the young furries who got in with Judy or Loona will be into OCs and not as tuned into minor new furry cartoons
There's the occasional flavor of the month character or certain pokemon that have essentially just become furry species to the furry artist community, but yeah, there's not a lot of outward facing furry activity. It's very insular and we can all be thankful that we don't see very much of what is happening inside furry communities.
Consider most of the ripoffs only ran in syndication and at odd hours at that. If you were in 3-channel hell you probably never saw them. Biker Mice I know aired locally but it was on like first thing Saturdays. If you slept in, you'd miss it.
Does anyone have any sexy fat out of female cat or mice people from this show?
Every TMNT ripoff failed one way or another. What magic did TMNT have that made it a phenomenon?
It was a fun novel premise that kids liked, simple as and they capitalized on that fast and hard. The ripoffs were just more of that capitalizing, when you're obviously just there to live in your compeitor's wake you won't ever be known as anything other than the ripoff you are.
"Ripoff" mentality. the American market calls things with similar premises ripoffs and fake. It's why Japan could have like 3-4 Tokusatsu series running at it's height but anything in the US that wasn't power rangers was called a Power rangers ripoff.
Or you could have Transformers but Go-bots was deemed the ripoff cheap version.
I think it was the fact that the TMNT were ninjas. Back in the 90's kids LOVED ninjas and anything inspired by ninjas. I don't really think that stuff like bikers really caught on as well as ninjas did.
Yeah, ninja shit used to be massive. Japanese stuff in general. This was that time when kids were telling each other that samurai swords could cut clean through metal with no problem, that ninja's could kill with a single punch, all that shit. If you look at 90's zines they're also full of ads and order lists of manga you haven't even heard of, because people were thirsting for that shit so hard. Some countries and US states banned shuriken because of this popularity.
>LOVED
>past tense
anon, they still do
I’d say Gargoyles was successful.
it was Disney's Batman
Exactly.
Gargoyles = Batman + Ninja Turtles + Arthurian mythology + Stark Trek cast.
It was a recipe for success.
As a show, sure, but not financially. If it was, Weisman wouldn't have gotten booted off and all the planned spin-off would've been made.
Disney had high hopes for gargoyles and it did not meet expectations
>Every TMNT ripoff failed one way or another
People loved TMNT because it was a silly concept and feels original back then. Every ripoff had usually a more serious tone and felt like copy paste. I mean charlie was april, Linburger feel like shredder + krang coming from dimension X and even hot dogs felt like a forced replacement for pizza.
The turtles themselves work super well. They are cool, but a little dorky, and sarcastic and funny at the same time. They quip and sling one-liners with the best of them, against a rogues gallery of distinct villains. When the TMNT did it, it was creative and original and fun. When everyone else copied them, it was obvious that they wanted the same kind of toy sales and they were scrambling to come up with any variation on the "cool dudes fight bad guys" formula.
>how is it possible that this character does not have even 1% of the art that Gadget has?
Will go out on a limb and say a lot of it is the seductive voice of Tress MacNeille.
>Tress Macneille
>Seductive voice
I believe that biker mice was popular in some parts of the world? like isn't the 2006 sequel made in Australia?
What do furries think about Mona Lisa?
Why does a lizard have hair? They are not mammals.
mona lisa is a human transformed into lizard so she keeps her hair from her previous form
Frick you , Biker Mice from Marse was tops.
Does anyone have any sexy fanart of female cat or mice people from this show?
just look on e621 but biker mice art is mostly gay
I barely remember cats in it at all, and it hasn't been that long since I watched some of it.
cats appear in the 2006 sequel
Got news for you. Rodents aren't actually popular. Just because Mickey Mouse exists doesn't mean people stop seeing mice as disease spreading vermin. And about Mickey Mouse he doesn't even look like a mouse.
And about your comment if you want artists to be drawn into your property you must use the established animal types which are...
Dragons
Bunnies
Felines
Certain species of domesticated dogs
Wolves
These are the universal big ones that will attract even normies. I'm not saying you can't find success with other species of animals like great apes for Donkey Kong, turtles for TMNT, or bandicoots for Crash Bandicoot but it's a bigger more uphill battle. If you stick to the tried and true? You are more prone to win with artists and even normie customers.
>if you want artists to be drawn into your property you must use the established animal types which are...
>
>Dragons
>Bunnies
Anon Bunnies are criminally underused in the furfandom. It's
>Wolves
>Dogs
>Cats
>Foxes
>lions tigers and bears
>dragons and mythical shit
>foxes again
And then maybe if you're lucky a rabbit.
>Anon Bunnies are criminally underused in the furfandom.
This
>lions tigers and bears
oh my
i think most furry artists of the era were already busy doing their own weird things when the tmnt-likes started popping up.
also, chip 'n dale has that Disney Bonus that attracted kids to it. (visible with tinytoons as well)
name brand > knock off
>the IDW one is an African American political activist.
you must be kidding me. I know the original one was barely a character but the premise of a regular scientist girl becoming a lizard is far more engaging than a "political activist"
She's a college student who got caught in the mutagen bomb blast radius and at first she thinks it's kind neat until she video calls her family and they go "OH GOD YOU'RE A FRICKING MONSTER" and hang up on her. Rest of her place in the story involved whining about how being mutated was violence, how they need to do rallies and protests, nagging Donnie and Mikey for being busy protecting the city instead of protesting with her, and then wanting to solve the town's problems through an election before fading out of relevance entirely.
>and then wanting to solve the town's problems through an election
Still baffles me how they add political shit to a series about martial artist and talking animals
It's turned into side-lining Sally Pride permanently, since she's now the mayor of Mutant Town and is apparently too busy with a press tour to be in the story anymore. It's hard to say if it even accomplished anything, since the climax to the whole Mutant Town story was blowing up the wall and letting all the mutants out anyways.
Humans dealing with the emotional and social challenges of becoming a mutant can be done well, and has been done. It not exactly or needs to be a political thing, at least not in the warped version of culture politics. It just needs a writer with a damn.
I think it could have been a very interesting story for the TMNT specifically. Part of their identity, for a time, was being hidden, not being able to go out and be part of society. Strike hard and fade into the shadows and all that. Suddenly, there's a place with several thousand mutants that they can blend in with and move around in broad daylight and they thinks its awesome, but everyone else is miserable, because now they're ostracized from society and have to hide and also there's ninja gangs and buttholes taking advantage of their new mutant abilities.
Wow! A setup for character growth and exploration and lots of opportunities for heroism!!... why the frick didn't they do anything with it?!
Because of context. TMNT is not about exploring emotions or deep existential conflicts, even the original comics is based on 80s videoclub and comic book counterculture and avoided deep topics.
I agree that is interesting topic, but maybe for another series or new IP, not for TMNT.
>TMNT is not about exploring emotions or deep existential conflicts
Someone should have told IDW that. I agree though. Putting a fanboy on the comic who wants to write about mutant melodrama, but also having him in charge of taking over a several hundred issue long TMNT story was a poor choice. Not a terrible premise for a story outright, but not a good fit for the clusterfrick that is IDW TMNT.
They're already missing deadlines and soon they'll be cancelling books. IDW thought they could run a publishing company after axing 75% of its employees and they never thought to address the problem that people didn't want to read the comics they were releasing.
>mutant melodrama,
This is the issue in a nutshell, I want to read silly ninja action, original mirage comics had a gritty tone on the surface, but the spirit of a b-movie in the core. Teen melodrama and political undertones are ok in my book, the original episode of Mona Lisa played with both concepts, but never overstay the welcome because it was just one episode, while mutant town feel too fricking long.
They could pull a spinoff of IDW mona lisa but keeping that themes out of the TMNT.
Toss Jennika, Alopex, April, Casey, and a few other neglected characters into a Mutant Town side book. Keep the TMNT out and about in the city, fighting the Foot and Stockman.
Colleen and Callie have a good amount of art
Hanat auki!
GATO
BMFM at least had the balls to show atrocities of War, like huge scars or missing body parts.
Though these antennas are completely unnecessary
But bro, they're Martians and Martians have antennas. Also yes, we need more characters who have been in battles show off scars and cool bionic limbs.
You can probably thank tie in toys for that. Stuff like battle damage and robo limbs are pretty popular on action figures. People like to rag on old action cartoons for being vehicles to sell toys, but when they were used for that we got a bunch of cool designs for the characters.
Always wanted more stuff set during the war itself.
War
War never been so much fun
>antennas were used to transfer memories to Charlene via telephaty in the first episode
>they never used this again
I hate this kind of plot device. Who's to say they were his real memories and not some kind of brainwashing?
All three at once, they're bros after all
Gadget is 100% more appealing than that goofy space mouse with x-treem scars and piercings.
Do you think that Charley and the boys had a rota system for fricking her, or was it first come first served?
I always thought Biker Mice had a stupid hideout. They lived in a scoreboard at Not Wrigley Field, home of the Not Cubs.
>Charley's AF is based on her concept art
JUST
Btw isn't new Biker Mice series coming?
It looks like only the toyline is getting revived, I think the animation rights are tied up between different groups. Besides, the market isn't geared towards action-centric merch toons outside of superhero properties, BMFM doesn't really have a place in the 21st Century.
>Toyline
If it's going to be as good as Bossfight's Bucky O Hare then I'll take it
Half of this kinda happened in v1. It wasn't as fun as you might think.
>Btw isn't new Biker Mice series coming?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it seesm the IP was bought by some Spanish scam artist.
I woulnt hold your breath for anything concrete to come out of this.
>nobody posts the bird chick
>feet instead of paws
pass
Swat Kat girls have cute cat ears, tails and noses, not even fur on them.
yeah there are more human than anthro
You think they'll make Charley a teenager in the new show like the last TMNT show? Maybe also make Vinnie the token teenage mouse due to how carefree and small he was compared to the other two?
Don't even want to think about what they'd do.
Wouldn't make sense for them to raceswap Charley as long as they make Modo as ambiguously black as possible like the old show.
Worried they'll make Carbine and Harley lesbians though.
>Worried they'll make Carbine and Harley lesbians though.
Goth Carbine because why not?
Get rid of the scar and this could be her before the war broke out, before her life was changed forever, before everything she thought her life would be vanished forever.
>"It's bad, but the only time I cried during this whole war was when the mall was bombed, because I knew that my life would never go 'back to normal'."
The quantity of BMFM OCs people have is always amazing to me.
Anyway, have some of the boys looking old.
>story about the old rockers teaching the young guns a thing or two
I'd be down for that shit as a revival of any of these "animal people with attitude," especially if they upstage and outdo the pups at pretty much every turn, until they learn from the masters and can finally stand on their two feet.
>modo lost arm and eye
BUT IF I REACH OUT THERE TO HOLD YOU
EVERY PART THAT'S REAL DISAPPEARS
Why are we still here? Just to suffer?
God I want a full series set during the war so bad.
I wish I had a time machine, and could somehow get a novel tie-in series set during the war introducing the characters.
Someone made mods of Carbine and Harley in second life
based M4 Chipmunk head user, i love that cute shit
You think IDW will do a Biker Mice from Mars series around the new show's release?
Calling it now; Throttle and Vinnie are gay as well as Carbine and Harley.
IDW will be lucky to survive the year without shutting down.
I just hope they get a TMNT/Sonic crossover out of the way soon.
Hopefully they'll be around long enough to do a TMNT/BMFM crossover by next year.
For me it's Female Turtles seducing established male characters like Naruto.
to be a tmnt rip off it has to be anthros animals? because for me, its nefer-tina.
