>Is PFM still going? I haven't checked it in a while. > >It was starting to suffer a bit from Gob not being the writer, as opposed to him writing and drawing for It Hurts!!
I dropped it back in February as I was tired of the storyline where Pas has a head injury and they were being detectives or something. I don't know, the overall story isn't good.
Damn I dropped IH right before it ended. I really want to go back to it though. I heard there was some sequel series now but it's not written by the same guy?
>I dropped IH right before it ended.
Christ, you couldn't have stopped at a worse time.
Go read it again! The ending is absolutely worth it. >it's not written by the same guy?
The sequel is indeed not written by gob and it suffers immensely for it, but it's still an alright read.
It's also slowly becoming more unhinged, so that's a plus.
You probably want to check it out either way because of the way IH!! ended, but that depends on how much you end up caring about Pasqualo.
why is that?

It's debatable, since we never really saw Aurora's personality proper. IH implies it's just Aurora with a Pasq dye-up, but PFM has Aurora act very similar to Pasq, albeit with some unique neuroses. This could just be because Aurora was fricked up from the start, of course, but I would also argue that they're "together" in some capacity come PFM like the other Anon

It's more so that she is Aurora with Pasq's colors but Pasq is an idiot and forgot to fix his own life when remaking everything. So, his cute waifu got to live but she went through some of the same horrible shit that caused him to become the frick up he is.
Worst part? She never even loved anyone because the Aurora in her was created to love someone who doesn't exist anymore. She will forever feel empty.

I do agree in general, but remember what Chaos said: a person is the pattern of the being, the impetus and the action.
I do think that in some sense, Pasquaurora is "just" Aurora in Pasqualo's place, but she's also taken up his name, his role to his friends, his parents, his life and struggles and neuroses. She's definitely not the same old Aurora, and she's definitely not the old Pasqualo, but I think there's something to be said for Pasquaurora being an amalgam, at least symbolically. Given that it's just a story, and there's no "real" ontology behind it, I think it's perfectly fair for that other Anon to say they're "merged", even if that's not narratively strictly speaking true, just because "a mix of old Pasqualo and old Aurora" is probably the best way to succinctly describe how Pasquaurora actually lives.

Are you the same guy? That doesn't gel at all with It Hurts, Harmony points out that Pasqualo had a shitload of ways to become happy, he's happy at ruling the school, Pasq isn't cursed to be a miserable loser, if anything the opposite seems true, the Universe literally bent over backwards to make him happy because he wished for it

Pasqaurora isn't oldPasqualo. She pets puppies constantly but it doesn't even come close to giving her happiness.
It's possible that her existence being genuinely, cosmically meaningless without Pasqualo gives more subconscious existential dread than Pasqualo just being a whiny little b***h. She feels hollow because she literally is, maybe.
It's interesting imo, and I wonder where Josef and Gob are going with it.

I understood "Please Forgive Me" as Pasq realizing Aurora is suffering as AuroraPasq. Not only is Pasq's existence soul crushing on its own, but Aurora's sole purpose was to make Pasq happy. She's now stuck in an existence where there is no Pasq to make happy so there is a loss of her original purpose AND she is living Pasq's shitty life. It's a double whammy basically.

See i guess that's where we're coming at this from different angles, my assumption was that Pasq basically doesn't exist anymore, hence his speech about selflessness at the end of It Hurts, and that AuroraPasq is just dealing with her own unique shit, hence differences like Pasq being a complete horndog while AuroraPasq had to stone up to tell that chick who was into her to frick off

There's se mire existentialism and dread at not only permanent anihilation but also at the meta idea that Aurora is not quite as fully human sentient.
She's otherworldly, even to God and who knows how many others that are on top of him, made to love Pasqualo.
So their whole tragedy is well... Idk what other form of media has portrayed that quite like it. Maybe Cien Años de Soledad?

It's been too many years, what are you talking about?
When she doesn't believe him about Poop and Tubsy, and he's desperately pleading for her to help him, she just ups and leaves. Ally, on the other hand, bro supreme as she is, is willing to ditch everything even if she thinks Pasq is crazy just because she trusts Pasq.
Pasq gets over Katie pretty fast, all things considered.
Anyone who likes IH should read Suicide Girl. MC is basically Pasqualo if he (or she in Aurorasqualo's case) actually got to be Sailor Moon and thus had a healthyish outlet for his/her depression.
Suicide Girl is great but I'm not a fan of how both the other girls have to act all yandere over her. I just find that dynamic annoying. I think I preferred it when she was fighting solo.
Please Forgive Me has just been Pasq suffering for the past long while, where she tries helping people just to make it worse. Hoping she reaches a breaking point soon and something happens.
I'd put it above my current favourite, Problem Sleuth, but the dialogue with Harmony and Chaos felt awkward and rather off brand for the comic.
It's crazy how having a direction and endgoal in mind that the characters work towards makes an ending top tier. IH ended better than some tv shows, cartoon and live action
Yes, imagine that, having a generally clear vision as to what you're going for both with the story and themes winds up producing something far better than just farting out whatever.
I don't feel it was awkward, it was maybe off-brand but it was very well-earned after all the build-up. There was some goofiness too so it wasn't truly fully off-brand, but I agree that being in the top 10% is essentially a worthless quality. It's personally one of my favourites.
And to all those who think PFM is inferior to IH because Gob isn;t writing it,
Josef wrote most of IH too. Especially the more serious stuff, like towards the ending.
I think the reason PFM isn;t as good IMO, is jsut because it's not as fun. It needs to take itself far less seriously, and get some happenings for frick sake.
I think PFM is just a little directionless. I get that Jsoef wanted to do a more grounded examination of actual depression and stuff, but Frick, I want more wacky shit. And I want some Pasqualo Prime, goddamnit.
While I agree, I actually think the best parts of PFM are the more grounded and depressing parts. Especially with regards to Pasqaurora being so fricking weird.
The wacky hijinks are also good, but the in-between stuff is just okay at best. It's just not stupid enough nor clever enough and ends up a bit middling.

She's funny. That's about it, really. Also IH doesn't take itself seriously enough that you care about the politics, so her political views can be the butt of the joke without us getting butthurt.
She's a good person, and most of her views come from a place of wanting to protect the people around her, and not wanting to tear down others to boost herself up (and the few times she does act like a stereotypical man-hating feminist, it always comes back to bite her in the ass, like pic related or getting owned by Pasqualo because he's too moronic to realize that he should feel insulted)
Actually, speaking of Pasqualo, he also helps with her character, too, due to the fact that he is the peak male feminist (claims to love women and hate men, yet still calls them b***hes and prostitutes without realizing they don't like that and constantly stares at their breasts and asses, while also ruling over every woman he meets like a patriarchal dictator and constantly ignoring their needs for his own wants)
any feminist would be justified in their beliefs living anywhere near Pasqualo, not to mention the living sex offense that is Mark
Oh hell yeah an it hurts thread in 2022, still so glad my friend got me to read it.
Mark is peak fiction and he inarguably carried the entire thing with just the sexual villain bit.
Forreal though it's cool seeing more fans of the webcomic!
ok so what the frick was the story of IT HURTS!! supposed to be about? I read all of it and I still am confused. It all ended with space Rhinos, who would've guessed?
It was kinda of existencial dread but also acceptance of it. That you gotta keep on going even through the pain.
That IT HURTS!
Also wacky, weebss and waifus
The fact that they weren't willing to hear him out and treated him like a schizo for trying to get them to remember tubsy- after all the insane shit they've been through as a group- feels completely out of character.
This is cope but I feel like that was almost supposed to be just a throwaway thing to get the comic done faster since a few pages later he forgot it was even something that was supposed to happen after God de-existed his mom.
that was only kate, the b***h
allison supported him
but to be honest, if someone you know started acting like a shared close friend had died, even though only they remember them, wouldn't you think they were crazy?
katie literally believes lizardmen run the world
plus they are all in literal hell after an apocalypse
I don't think memory erasure is that hard to grasp of a concept
Katie is unbelievably arrogant and if she hasn't heard of something, she thinks it's fake news. It's not that hard to imagine her not taking it seriously.
the entire point of that was that they were in hell and would not remember their friends no matter what. it wouldn't matter how much pasqualo insisted, they would never believe tubsy had ever existed because they were all being tortured by existential forces
I always saw Pasqualo being an idiot until the very end when all he really did was give Aurora his life, fricked up emotions, family, and depression. He didn’t actually think it through which honestly is very much in character.
Aurora taking Pasq's place makes sense in a morbid way. >remove self from existence >dictate that Aurora is to be born into existence >fate takes the easiest course and plugs Aurora into the only empty spot available--the one that Pasq left behind
It's the moments where she's just lucid enough to know how fricked up she is and that her kookiness is just coping for her traumatic past that makes me want her to be happy.
Maybe I just have a savior complex because I also want to kiss Stephanie's monobrow and tell her it's gonna be alright.
The Pasqualo from It Hurts is super gone. Doesn't exist in this universe, gone. He let Aurora take his place, meaning Pasqualo is now a blonde girl and the apocalypse can't happen anymore. She also ends up with the same shitty parents and considering Aurora was always gonna be drawn to Pasqualo, it might have fricked with her brain in some way or another.
>and the apocalypse can't happen anymore
Weird to think about but it's technically correct, although for the sake of giving his monster friends a place in the world Pasqualo basically created a post-apocalyptic world without the apocalypse.
Oh yeah. Poop's hanging out in the woods as what I assume is an eternal puppy, Trisssh is around, and now Maggie too. What other apocalypse friends even were there?

they also had that cute little almost-coming-out during the sleepover, so they’re probably KIND OF dating? it’s unclear!

Only thing I can think of is Digital: A Love Story.
Which could fit, as that game's story also hurts. A lot. Shame about the author. They really killed their own creativity after After Analogue: A Hate Story.
Gotta say, I'm very sad at the lack of Nate and especially Tubsy in PFM. Fortunately I have little patience and a surplus entirely too relatable angst in this version to fill the void they left behind.
I think Tubsy is just a uniquely hard character to write for and have in the story in long stints. He is paradoxically both immune to any bullshit around him while also being its greatest perpetrator. If hes always around the question becomes why doesnt Tubsy solve this problem with a witty one liner and his hulk strength? I think part of what made him work so well in It Hurts was that he just wasnt around for much of it so nothing he did got old. Its clear Gob knows this because excuses keep getting conjured to bench Tubsy like him headbutting a window and bleeding out, hes too OP for the setting but nerfing him could potentially ruin his character. I do think we are overdue for a Tubsy centered arc though or more likely one about him and Allison's relationship, probably brought on by pasquroras imminent meltdown and their supposed role in it
This was the thread that finally made me read it hurts. Boy, you guys weren't kidding. As moronic and absurd as it was, it really is one of the few webcomics that made me actually feel things. What a ride.
Who would have thought that a stupid, poorly drawn webcomic with vulgar humor and over the top violence could end so bittersweetly, succinctly, and fill you with such actual emotions.
I hope to make something that someone loves as much as I love It Hurts.
>poorly drawn
I'd argue that while the drawings aren't great on any kind of technical level, the art is still good. It's very "loud", full of character, dynamic and uique. I'd take It Hurts!!'s art over something like, say, Questionable Content which might (might) be better on a technical level but is just really fricking boring visually.
"headcanon" I guess. They didn't wear uniforms in the previous universe and it's unusual in an American government school, as opposed to relgious schools.
I mean its barely a headcanon. It's all but confirmed. You can surmise that every weird little change is a result of Pasqualo Prime wanting to change things to make what he thought would be a better universe. So, monsters roaming around obviously, schoolgirl outfits, and other stuff.
Might be interesting to note all these changes and ask try and ask Josef and Gob about them.
I read and liked the entire series but never really understood what I was reading. After the fricking zombie apocalypse I resigned myself to not knowing what the frick I was into but understanding that I was 100% along for the ride, and that Pasqualo's father is based
I still like PFM, but I feel it's dragged its heels a bit too much for me to like it more than It Hurts!!
The humor still mostly hits for me and a lot of the Pasqualo focused stuff, especially the Christmas lunch with Ally, was really good but I think it's just overdue for something actually big to happen, and for all the little foreshadowing elements to finally pay off, 300 comics is a long fricking time.
On another note Pasqualo and Obtusanglo's relationship being openly and two-sidedly resentful hasn't stopped being funny to me since the comic started, so that's one nice thing.
I like that some other characters are getting use. It was nice that characters like Kim and Magma Spider and now seemingly Stephanie have played or are playing big roles in arcs and Patience and Melanie are good additions to the main cast. Only real issue I have is Ally basically being "fixed" and basically turned into a different character entirely.
No, it's that she got thrown into the funny farm and came back normal at which point she started dating Tubsy. There was an entire chapter about it and how the fact Ally being "normal" and having a boyriend now has caused Pasqualo to feel estranged from her. Pic related is maybe the closest the Ally has coming to actually being Ally in a long time.
Maybe he wanted to re-create her just as she was but also wanted to put her in niver surrondings, but without the wretched enviroment to rage at, her antics are clearly crazy.
I think he wanted to create better lives for everyone he loved in IH, but those bad lives helped shaped his friends into the badasses we know. Ally went through some shit in her old life, so I understand Pasq wanted to change some things so she wouldn't suffer again, but he didn't know how those changes would affect Ally for better or worse.
There's also the most obvious change of all: Pasqualo isn't there. Aurorasqualo, cute as she is, is a completely different person and Ally growing up with her in turn made Ally a different person. Remember, before the apocalypse Pasqualo was a whiny crybaby who was obsessed with anime and was generally a fricking lunatic weirdo (none of this is a criticsm, mind you), and Ally basically had to be his emotional rock for the entirety of their friendship. They loved each other, and certainly Pasqualo did what he could for Ally so it wasn't a completely parasitic relationship, but having to deal with Pasqualo's weirdness on top of her shitty life at home resulted in an Ally that was a dirty, foul-mouthed little ragamuffin that used crude humor and violence to deal with complex emotional disarray. Aurorasqualo, on the other hand, inherited Aurora's naivete, kindness and desire to help others, so she grew to be somewhat more outwardly stable than her predecessor. This, in turn, gave Ally some modicum of stability, which allowed her to develop the kind of emotional groundwork she needed to realize that her behavior was unhealthy and seek out help.
I really love it hurts and Gob, but pfm is such a disappointment. I know Gob clearly wants to just have a fun slice of life adventure, but the crazy story chugging along in the background was one of the best parts of it hurts, and pfm just feels so... empty? But I'm still like 10 pages behind at this point so maybe this has changed.
I wouldn't say I'm disappointed in PFM, but it's certainly a different beast from IH.
There still hasn't been any moment that's touched my heart like IH did over and over.
I'm waiting to see what happens, mostly. I feel like there is something going to happen, but it's a slow burn until then.
I think it'd be kind of interesting to see what would happen if the same trick that made Aurorasqualo was done with other characters i.e. Allysqualo, Katiesqualo, Trisssshsqualo, etc. Tubsqualo probably wouldn't give a frick.
Is there a way to read the author's thoughts on the creation of IH? sort of a "making of" explanation or recap, a word vomit by gob of how this story came to be and how they wrote these characters into existance?
>listen to the accompanying music When I storytimed Suicide Girl on Cinemaphile like a month back, I put music for each thread and I took that in part from Gob posting songs for each IH update. Soundtracks are very important, after all.

Honestly I hope the Hellfire got her quick after Pasq left. Otherwise eventually she'll forget everyone around her as they each are erased. The thought of Ally walking around in an empty hell and thinking she was always alone is terrifying. And if not Ally, this exact scenario definitely happened to someone very unlucky.

Katie, Ally, Trisssh, any of the Peppershanty residents. One by one they each lost touch with one another, then forgot entirely that they'd ever existed at all. Just like real highschool friends.
Centuries isn't doing it justice. 101000 is an unfathomably large number for a human mind.
A googol is 10100, which for context, from Wikipedia: >To give a sense of how big a googol really is, the mass of an electron, just under 10-30 kg, can be compared to the mass of the visible universe, estimated at between 1050 and 1060 kg. It is a ratio in the order of about 1080 to 1090, or at most one ten-billionth of a googol (0.00000001% of a googol).
Meaning that the difference between a single electron mass and the mass of the entire universe is tiny. Each of your hairs is more different from each other by a factor of thousands than a single electron is different to the entire universe if the latter comparison is made with respect to a googol.
Imagine if you had a googol seconds. For every single second of such an unfathomably large number, imagine you had a googol more, i.e. each of those googol seconds stretched out for a googol more seconds.
You'd still only be at 10200 seconds. Stretch every single one of the extra googol seconds out for another googol seconds, you get up to 10300.
Pasqualo searched for 101000 years.
It is a stretch of time so absurd, so monstrously inhuman to even attempt to visualize, that there is no way we can understand for just how long Pasqualo hunted for that green tulpa puss. And for how long Ally lived without knowing where her best friend had disappeared off to.
The only consolation we have is that Ally probably got deleted by a stray hellfire blast at some point. In that much time, it's really hard to imagine she wouldn't have messed up and gotten erased and taken by sweet oblivion. It only takes once, after all.
This part kind of bothered me, since that means the unbelievable vast majority of Pasq's life was spent not with his friends. But I reconciled it by taking the story less literally. The "plot" in terms of actual events of the story is absurd and kind of dumb, but it makes sense as being a reflection of a nerdy kid who watches too much anime like DBZ.

all the times when pasqualo has narration during the comic are him retelling his life story during the long space trip

One of the biggest reasons why I think Josef isn't a better writer than Gob (at least when considering PFM!!!) is because a lot of the dialogue just has an extremely weak impact humor-wise. Most of the time when humor is attempted, it is just an alright joke at best.
Now, I get that PFM!!! isn't IH!! and that it is largely focusing on the depression and sadness of Pasqualo instead of how idiotic Pasqualo is, I still think of it as a successor within the same "genre" due to the (many) attempts of the same type of humor present in IH!!.
The thing that make IH!! so incredible and memorable is that is oozes humor in almost every page. Almost every single time humor is attempted with a quip or just within dialogue, it is so goddamned funny, it hurts.
That's not to say that I think Josef is a bad writer (he wrote the ending of IH!! after all and holy shit, what a fricking ending), just that humor isn't his forte and that most of the pleasure I got from IH!! was the humor.
Luckily, I also love suffering and self-pity/loathing in general, so I still very much "enjoy" seeing the adventures of Pasqualo.
Not that Anon, but I think what you're saying is fair and to an extent I agree. I think PFM is often funny, but not as often as IH and the highs are lower while the lows aren't as easy to gloss over because it takes itself more seriously.
I just think it's a bit odd you think it suffers immensely for it, that's quite a big statement and I don't think PFM is THAT much worse. IH was a bit of a lightning in a bottle.
Gob writing the average strip and then Josef coming in for the big emotional swings like the ending (and i presume stuff like Poop getting got) was a great balance, PFM's got me a couple of times but it hasn't got that insane spice that It hurts did
No, I feel this new dad just is completely disinterested in his daughter instead of pure hatred. Especially since Pasqualo now fights back and doesn't quiver. He still has hat though, so maybe he did do *something*.
IH really inspired me to pick up a pencil and try my hand at art and comics for the first time since I was a kid. It's not going well, but it doesn't have to. I love this stupid comic and IH's ending makes me tear up every time; it has no right being as good as it is.
if IH and one punch man/mob psycho 100 can be as good as they are with the "good enough" art talent that's behind them, you can make it
as long as you're funny
In comics like these I wonder how much Gob has to think about the bonkers dialogue, the exact phrasing, the precise amount of wows etc., or if it's just a complete stream of consciousness thing.
Is mind broken?
No
Is PFM still going? I haven't checked it in a while.
It was starting to suffer a bit from Gob not being the writer, as opposed to him writing and drawing for It Hurts!!
>
I don't know, the overall story isn't good.
yeah it's still going
it looks like the weird shit that's been in the background may be finally leading up to something
What is it hurts!! Because ive tried looking it up before but could never find it
It's a comic.
http://gobolatula.com/ithurts/
Here ya go; it's a fun and wild ride.
It still hurts that katie won the Pasqualobowl.
why is that?
if you are a ally x pasq shipper frick off
Why? What you got against Katie?
katie is the only true waifu
the rest were prostituteS--except ally, who was a bro.
How fricking dare you, routed for Aurora from day one, actually disgusted fellow Cinemaphilemrades would think for a second i wanted to blow up the best platonic friendship in comics
>How fricking dare you, routed for Aurora from day one
looks like you missed the point of the story, FRICK FACE
Looks like you failed to take into account that the secondary point of the story was to ignore the narrative conceit in favor of treating the characters as human beings, NERD
The story literally ends with them "together" you fart knocker
>Aurora and Pasq
>"together"
Explain what you read at the end of IH.
It's a way to avoid spoilers because Aurora and Pasqualo get merged into FemSqualo at the end of the comic
That's not what happened anon.
homie what the frick else am i supposed to read it as, Squalo in PFM is clearly taken aspects of both Aurora and Pasq
Like not even as a shipping thing but i think it's pretty clear that Pasqualo sacrifices his own independent existence in order to give Aurora a chance to live a life that isn't completely defined by him wishing on the star
Pasqualo basically erased himself from existence and gave Aurora his place
She will forever feel empty.
>was created to love someone who doesn't exist anymore
iktf
Sorry to hear that. I hope you find some happiness, anon.
Are you that one Anon who was literally born for his sister and she died?
I'm sorry for your loss Anon, I hope you've been spending your funds well instead of pissing them away when I last saw you.
QRD?
An anon was literally born because his sister wanted a little brother and her parents gave her what she wanted, she died at some point, and then his parents died in an accident and he told the thread he lived in a fancy ass apartment that cost 2mil a month or something wild like that.
What's worst is that, presumably, unlike OG Pasqualo she would never get proper understatement or meaningful treatment for that.
Who is to say that every chemically depressed person wasn't an Aurora in a previous life?
>Who is to say that every chemically depressed person wasn't an Aurora in a previous life?
Would you accept a "Cheese Forgive Me?" from your Pasqualo?
Holy frick, I sometimes wonder if I am the Pasqualo.
Sure I already feel and know I'm unforgivable.
So I appreciate and enjoy forgiving others who are considered unforgivable.
That's not what happened. Go back and reread, especially Aurora's warnings to Pasq before the rhinos. Spoiler: Pasq doesn't heed them. Reread this and then you'll know the truth behind the title "Please Forgive Me."
Gimme a page number? I assumed that "Please forgive me"'s title was just a reference to Pasq's people pleasing and semi-doormat personality at the start of the series
I assume he's talking about this page
the fricking shock on past face at middle
the realization he basically created aurora to suffer
>I assumed that "Please forgive me"'s title was just a reference to Pasq's people pleasing and semi-doormat personality at the start of the series
"Please Forgive Me" comes from the fact that Pasqualo puts Aurora on his feet. And Pasqualo's constant is that in every universe he must suffer.
Are you the same guy? That doesn't gel at all with It Hurts, Harmony points out that Pasqualo had a shitload of ways to become happy, he's happy at ruling the school, Pasq isn't cursed to be a miserable loser, if anything the opposite seems true, the Universe literally bent over backwards to make him happy because he wished for it
>Pasqualo had a shitload of ways to become happy
Didn't Aurora try most of these things, but she's still miserable?
Genuine question, cause I basically dropped the comic.
I don't think she's tried cognitive behavioral therapy or drugs...
>Therapy
big nope
>Drugs
Habitual Mountain Doog drinker
Pasqaurora isn't oldPasqualo. She pets puppies constantly but it doesn't even come close to giving her happiness.
It's possible that her existence being genuinely, cosmically meaningless without Pasqualo gives more subconscious existential dread than Pasqualo just being a whiny little b***h. She feels hollow because she literally is, maybe.
It's interesting imo, and I wonder where Josef and Gob are going with it.
If the thread is up, I'll get back to you with the number.
The page had Aurora talking to Pasq. It was before the rhinos.
>If the thread is up
Shit. I meant if the thread is still up tomorrow.
Gotta go to bed.
See i guess that's where we're coming at this from different angles, my assumption was that Pasq basically doesn't exist anymore, hence his speech about selflessness at the end of It Hurts, and that AuroraPasq is just dealing with her own unique shit, hence differences like Pasq being a complete horndog while AuroraPasq had to stone up to tell that chick who was into her to frick off
I hope AuroraPasq can be happy
Oh yeah play titty world or whatever it's called, i'm basically licking the pipes for any of that sweet, sweet, it hurts residue, but it's a fun little thing
It's going to be the last line in Femsqualo's inevitable suicide note.
I'm back. It's been years so the page isn't what I remembered it to be, but here's the page I was mentioning anyway. It's after the rhinos where they kill both Aurora and Pasq. Page 424.
>overwhelming sense of dread
>your fate
>It's not what I want.
>I want you to be happy.
Looking back it defines the tragedy of Pasq and Aurora. Pasq goes through untold amounts of suffering for Aurora, and it is not what she wants.
She never wanted any of this.
Maybe Cien Años de Soledad?
so think that line alludes to please forgive me?
that's fricking -grim-
For context, here's the dream Aurora is referring to.
Well yeah, IH, specifically the space story arc onwards to the end, pretty much lay down the foundation for PFM.
Jesus fricking christ, I know we've said that It Hurts! is good and all but if this was all completely intentional then as a combined story IH!! and PFM!!! is unironically the best webcomic in history, and a contender for one of the best stories ever written PERIOD.
Like christ almighty we are getting into fricking operatic tragedy territory here.
>the panel before has Jenny so you think the blondeness is just Jenny morphing into Aurora as she enters the dream
What a fakeout, if planned that far in advance.
It's interesting how she cries in unhappiness only while she's in contact with Pasq, or a "part" of him. This is some insane foreshadowing though.
BRAVO GOB
BRAVO JOSEF
the real question is whether she'd hate to be in pasquallo's shoes or she hates knowing pasq would erase himself for her sake
IH and PFM are fantastic and endlessly rereadable. Once PFM comes out in book form I'll give the team my hard cash once more.
It's been too many years, what are you talking about?
shut up trissssssssssssssssssssh is a angel
I love the dumb gimmick of having a large text box with only a couple words in it
god I love the dialogue in this comic
it can be used in non-comedic ways, too.
man, the medium of comics is so underutilized by a majority of artists.
I always read Tubsy's lines with the voice of Babycakes
i can see it
Trisssh truly is best girl
Yeah, a fallen angel
>katie
Weird way to spell "Trisssh".
She didn't truly win though, Pasq dumped that b***h when she ended up being a hypocrite and didn't want to follow him
>Pasq dumped that b***h when she ended up being a hypocrite and didn't want to follow him
frick're you on about?
When she doesn't believe him about Poop and Tubsy, and he's desperately pleading for her to help him, she just ups and leaves. Ally, on the other hand, bro supreme as she is, is willing to ditch everything even if she thinks Pasq is crazy just because she trusts Pasq.
Pasq gets over Katie pretty fast, all things considered.
Katie is best girl
Christ, imagine the sex
Don't even talk about that... My heart won't last
Did you SEE how big the boobs were?
What's the Pasqualobowl?
Who "gets" to be Pasqualo's girlfriend
Anyone who likes IH should read Suicide Girl. MC is basically Pasqualo if he (or she in Aurorasqualo's case) actually got to be Sailor Moon and thus had a healthyish outlet for his/her depression.
Cool art too.
Not really.
>I'm on Cinemaphile and have to pretend I don't like anime
>especially in a thread about a comic with a weeaboo MC and drawn by a weeaboo
Suicide Girl is great and MC feels relatable in similar ways to Aurorasqualo.
I wonder if Gob has ever read jt
Very nice taste, anon
Suicide Girl is great but I'm not a fan of how both the other girls have to act all yandere over her. I just find that dynamic annoying. I think I preferred it when she was fighting solo.
I think Akane is a little over the top and she's also the one character I don't like. Manten is great though.
such a good comic. gonna dump my small collection of images here
🙂
🙁
Tubsy is what got me into all this
Has anyone been keeping up with PFM? I kinda fell off around the dreadbears arc
i have
i still find it enjoyable even but i get why some anons are not into it
Has Pasqualo's eye gotten better yet?
she has been worryingly absent in the last few comics
the last time she appeared they went out of their way to not show her face
thank you friend
I check in every couple months when I see something from it or IH posted. I'm interested enough in where it's going to do that from time to time.
I'm waiting until it ends so I can read it all in one night like I did with IH and the sun starts rising on the final word.
why is Ally so cute bros
what in the frick happened in PFM in the year and a half I was gone
Pasq got into fine art and joined the IDF
I wonder if his insurance covers that
Anyone have the art someone did of Pasq having a wetdream of an older Ally with big bazongas
Warning, Pasqualo X Alison gays have been detected in this thread, proceed with extreme caution.
Please Forgive Me has just been Pasq suffering for the past long while, where she tries helping people just to make it worse. Hoping she reaches a breaking point soon and something happens.
she hasn't said a word since chapter 15 started, my guess is she's gonna go full-scale meltdown at the dance for everyone to see
I'm really looking forward to it. Something about fictional characters having emotional breakdowns is really cathartic to me.
I'm loving seeing Dadsqualo suffer because Jenny decided to reinsert herself into his life.
>aurora boreanaz
tee hee
Why was Pasqualo so horny yet never fricked?
it was part of the humor
but also he was an awkward depressed weeb who felt he didn't deserve any kind of joy in his life
but also no one wants to put middleschooler boning in their webcomic (even if it's implied) unless they're ready to attract a very particular audience
Oh yeah that's right, still it feels it made narrative sense for him to do so
I don't think anyone in the main cast is allowed to bone, while side character bawds like Kim and Magmaspider frick around constantly.
>I don't think anyone in the main cast is allowed to bone
Do not let him read ze prototype
hello this is Cinemaphile you must be lost
He's just like me
Has any webcomic ever stuck the landing as well as IH did? I legitimately think it's one of the best endings in anything I've ever seen.
Its definitely in the top 10% of endings. Most of them just faceplant. It Hurts! was actually good.
Being in the top 10% is a fairly low bar to cross
I'd put it above my current favourite, Problem Sleuth, but the dialogue with Harmony and Chaos felt awkward and rather off brand for the comic.
PFM needs more Melanie. Also Patience. Also unfix Allison.
It's just not stupid enough nor clever enough and ends up a bit middling.
most of ih was written by gob
and i think some of pfm is written by him as well, which is why later pfm comics are just signed "josef/grail/gob"
Well, the endign was written by Josef, so I know he can deliver. I just want more IH style wackiness.
https://twitter.com/gobolatula/status/1200470252104011776
>the ending wasn't written by gob
phew. i knew there was a reason i didn't like it
Loved this fricking comic
Anon, you DO own all the books, Right?
I'm finally moving out of my parents house (only took 6 years of adulthood...) but these are absolutely going to be some of the first things I order when I leave.
just the one but i plan to get the rest eventually
I still need the last one. I keep forgetting to order it.
One day™ I will, but shipping to Europe is inconvenient and expensive as hell generally, and customs will be a b***h.
Enjoying my Peng Floyd shirt though.
I managed to get a copy from Amazon in yoorop. You aren't gonna get it dedicated tho
OK that’s half an answer but no one else has answered >131318615.
Want to give glob money but not if I’m giving more even to US mail.
How has no-one taken the opportunity to make a buck and put the “ship” back in “shipping”?
Don’t care if it takes 2 months but I’m just not paying $150 for air freight.
they're too expensive.
i got a buddy to draw this for a while ago
post more rare it hurts stuff
Love some high quality fan art of IH. Glad to see a thread about it once in a while
>tfw no snek gf
Anyone know where to find a DL of the entire site? Looking to archive it
Do what I did. Save every image individually so you can storyline the entire comic once or twice a year.
wait, I didn't write that but it's what I did
If you guys saved every image of the comic can one of you upload a zip of it?
sorry for the wait
https://mega.nz/file/JzQllRqK#UjjLUSfdD9HgpwA3SzecI6WbLk2NpOLCeJEINJbHl3U
>https://mega.nz/file/JzQllRqK#UjjLUSfdD9HgpwA3SzecI6WbLk2NpOLCeJEINJbHl3U
Thanks!!!
I was probably the first person to save all the comics, and I asked Gob if he was cool with me doing that, and he said he couldn't stop me, but would much prefer that I didn't, as he wanted people to read it on his site. But that was a number of years ago, and there have been a number of storytimes over the years, so you do you.
>I love my cats but sometimes wonder what it'd be like to have a dog, too. See, cats are extremely convenient. They poop by themselves, clean themselves, entertain themselves... Whereas with dogs, you gotta squeeze the poop out of them, spray them with the pressure washer, and give them years of smiles and chuckles by telling them how alt text started in comic 153.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN
?
The alt text of the page, anon.
And not just that page, EVERY GODDAMN PAGE SINCE PAGE 153 HAS RANDOM FRICKING ALT TEXT.
>Pasqualo! What are you doing with your dad's shotgun at the school dance?
Don't even fricking start
I cannot handle my gal being this distressed
Someone please punch her in the face and knock her out so she finally fricking sleeps
Crudely drawn but a little ccuuttee
I love that tubsy drawing so much.
He deserved so much better
He got FRICKED in PFM, honestly, holy shit, I still don't know how to feel about it.
I'm guessing they didn't know what to do to him.
>the radical man-hating feminist is actually one of the best characters in the series
How'd he do it?
Because she's a character and not a mouthpiece.
😉
where is the full page of this , "i wasnt ready"
Page numbah 271
All the anons itt talking about what "Please Forgive Me" refers to when it's literally right here
I am a "Jack" fan and IH really hit home for me.
Jack fan?
I didn’t laugh much at the humor and thought the story was pretty bad but I do appreciate it existing.
I tricked Jerk Douglas into reading it and do a fanart
ok so what the frick was the story of IT HURTS!! supposed to be about? I read all of it and I still am confused. It all ended with space Rhinos, who would've guessed?
It was kinda of existencial dread but also acceptance of it. That you gotta keep on going even through the pain.
That IT HURTS!
Also wacky, weebss and waifus
There's no plot. It's just about a lil dummy taking an eternity to figure out what matters.
uh, did you actually read all of it? As in, what comes after the space rhinos?
If a manic pixie dream girl who defies your wildest dreams says you can date her but it will result in something horrible happening, don't date her
IH really dropped the ball in the hell arc.
He mentions it again near the end, how else should he react regarding his mother?
that was only kate, the b***h
allison supported him
but to be honest, if someone you know started acting like a shared close friend had died, even though only they remember them, wouldn't you think they were crazy?
katie literally believes lizardmen run the world
plus they are all in literal hell after an apocalypse
I don't think memory erasure is that hard to grasp of a concept
says you
Katie is unbelievably arrogant and if she hasn't heard of something, she thinks it's fake news. It's not that hard to imagine her not taking it seriously.
the entire point of that was that they were in hell and would not remember their friends no matter what. it wouldn't matter how much pasqualo insisted, they would never believe tubsy had ever existed because they were all being tortured by existential forces
Shit ending.
Aaaaaaaaaanyone know what the threads storytimes of these were? The earlier the better cuz it aint the same reading it alone.
https://desuarchive.org/_/search/subject/it%20hurts%20storytime/
Noice
>more never ever
I always saw Pasqualo being an idiot until the very end when all he really did was give Aurora his life, fricked up emotions, family, and depression. He didn’t actually think it through which honestly is very much in character.
I think it's more fair for him not to expect her taking his place.
She could have been an orphan or someone else's kid
Aurora taking Pasq's place makes sense in a morbid way.
>remove self from existence
>dictate that Aurora is to be born into existence
>fate takes the easiest course and plugs Aurora into the only empty spot available--the one that Pasq left behind
I'm a dirty shipgay and ship Aurorasqualo and Melanie, in spite of the age difference.
BECAUSE of the age difference
Among these two, it is Melanie who cannot consent.
It's the moments where she's just lucid enough to know how fricked up she is and that her kookiness is just coping for her traumatic past that makes me want her to be happy.
Maybe I just have a savior complex because I also want to kiss Stephanie's monobrow and tell her it's gonna be alright.
I finished It Hurts 2 years ago, Pasq back or is he still gonzo?
What other apocalypse friends even were there?
vampire chick is around.
Actually it's not the same shitty parents since Jenny isn't Aurora's mother, oddly enough.
I remember reading It Hurts live and the way this place reacted when it went fricking balls to the walls out of nowhere. Good times.
I dropped PFM pretty early on. Maybe one day I'll try it again. But It Hurts!! is my favorite webcomic,
please forgive me fricking sucks bu i'm reading it anyway. i like this page
Lmao this page is so clever with its font and it's oddly cute seeing Triangilini hugging Paquaurora
So did characters like Patience, Melanie and Clownathan exist in the IH universe and we just never saw them?
sex with katie
well, she's probably a virgin considering
But she's a racist
And?
When has that been indicated?
She's against human-eating fire-spiders
Did you not read the last chapter? Katie's practically ready to pull out the hood and robes.
Every It Hurts! reader is racist
Do you really mean it!?
I can fix her
There's nothing to fix
what if she's not racist enough
She hasn't come to terms with her own racism yet. I will make her self-aware.
yes
I'm rooting for her bros.
Frick it hurts. I hope she doesn't destroy herself instead of the world.

they also had that cute little almost-coming-out during the sleepover, so they’re probably KIND OF dating? it’s unclear!
Could someone answer that?
could you answer which comic that is?
I don't think I love any characters as much as I love the IH cast.
>-A Love Story-
Is this a reference to something?
She reminds me of Gertrude, but that can't be it.
Only thing I can think of is Digital: A Love Story.
Which could fit, as that game's story also hurts. A lot.
Shame about the author. They really killed their own creativity after After Analogue: A Hate Story.
It Hurts is a love story at its core.
Did gob take god dammit down?
I still haven't finished reading it. Should I buy the collection?
Yes. Also, fricking finish it, you homosexual.
That's not what I wanted to hear.
Too fricking bad.
You're going to experience the absolute pain that is IT HURTS!! and you're going to like it.
>you bart simpson johnny test lookin' mother fricker!!
heh
It Hurts is like if Homestuck was fun and not tedious and exhausting.
Gotta say, I'm very sad at the lack of Nate and especially Tubsy in PFM. Fortunately I have little patience and a surplus entirely too relatable angst in this version to fill the void they left behind.
Tubsy just feels one note both in PFM and IH.
Welcome to the club.
Gob is a great cartoonist
In the beginning, the art wasn't great. It got heaps better as it went on.
Gob is an ok artist and an absolutely fantastic cartoonist, which seems like a relatively rare combination.
Bros I'm actually scared is she going to no no the school?
I just like the joke that in PFM they wear uniforms at school because the Pasqualo of the previous universe liked anime.
LMAO sure, confirmed or headcanon?
"headcanon" I guess. They didn't wear uniforms in the previous universe and it's unusual in an American government school, as opposed to relgious schools.
Where I live, the intercity schools have uniforms but county schools don't. It doesn't matter anyway because that's a pretty good headcannon
Not that anon but to that I'll say it's a mix of ally being older and no apocalypse
No, it's that she got thrown into the funny farm and came back normal at which point she started dating Tubsy. There was an entire chapter about it and how the fact Ally being "normal" and having a boyriend now has caused Pasqualo to feel estranged from her. Pic related is maybe the closest the Ally has coming to actually being Ally in a long time.
weird that tubsy still likes an ally that is not ally
>, especially the Christmas lunch with Ally
hit me like a truck
Can Anyone do a storytime of this?
I may do it soonish. It's been awhile since I did it last. Probably do PFM too.
They did one awhile ago.
I'm planning to do one in August.
Ally stinks!!
it's well established, yeah
Greatest Girl, my life for Allison Schwartz.
Is there a reason Ally is vile but virile in the original universe and a mental case in the second?
Pasq fricked up rebirthing reality.
But like what's the reason?
Gob hasn't been writing since just before the ending of IH!, so that's probably where your disappointment is coming from.
Go to his website, listen to the accompanying music, read the comments and search for the old threads about sometimes he appeared
>listen to the accompanying music
When I storytimed Suicide Girl on Cinemaphile like a month back, I put music for each thread and I took that in part from Gob posting songs for each IH update. Soundtracks are very important, after all.
Days of candy will forever be branded in my mind as the "It Hurts!!" Ending song
mine is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsvuipGq2ns
Is international shipping from America still fricked?
Kinda want some physical copies.
I want auroasqualo to stop suffering but I also went to eat ally's ass
a conundrum
you dont have to chose between the 2 anon
but then where is the conflict?
https://voca.ro/13Wg0aeQ5xNT
Today, I will share the ancient theme song.
I miss the old IH threads.
Who's fricking hands are these
I'm confused.
The time Allison spent in Hell, not knowing where Pasqualo went.
Holy frick, that makes a lot of sense, her literally just there for centuries.
Presumably for almost an unimaginable amount of time if she survived there for most of hell's existence
In the end, the beacons of Heaven and the fires of Hell too burned themselves out. Maybe she survived a century before the Hellfire got her, maybe ten centuries. It doesn't matter in the end. Everything died.
A googol is 10100, which for context, from Wikipedia:
>To give a sense of how big a googol really is, the mass of an electron, just under 10-30 kg, can be compared to the mass of the visible universe, estimated at between 1050 and 1060 kg.
Cinemaphile ate the formatting of the superscripts. Obviously it's 10^1000, 10^100, 10^200, 10^50 etc.
Pasqualo spent pic related years plumbing the void until the final star went out.
Thanks for inspiring a reread btw
God... Katie is the perfect girl.
We get it. You judge others not by the content of their character but by the fangs and extra appendages and hungers that they were born with and had no control over. You look at them and assume they ALL eat people because you, like Katie, are an unrepentant bigot.
meltdown imminent kinda maybe
>I Think You Should Leave might be the funniest show. I don't rewatch comedy shows much these days, but this one I've watched pretty frequently since it's come out. I can't really think of a single bad sketch. Yeah, if you haven't already, you should watch I Think You Should Leave. It's on Netflix. Also, you should watch Jojo's Bizarre Alt Text Adventure, Part (Comic) 153. That one was a bit of a stretch. Sorry.
Eh, I kinda found New Pianist to be a bit of a drag, even if I really like Fred Willard.
I'm seeing double. FOUR Pasqualos.
God, what's happening to her? I don't know if I'm ready to see her face.Gob I'm kidding, show us whats wrong with our girl
It's either gonna be an explosion of pain and sorrow or a wet fart in the wind. Either way I'm here way for it.
PFM still has some great moments. The Maggy / pregnant teen arc was great.
it's the little details that make you love every char
all have clearly defined detailing, ways to react to things and even little accessories.
few media characters got me so interest
I'll catch up some day
Damn. Saw this thread this morning, decided to give this a re-read and sobbed at the end anyways
Page 407 has a busted YT music link btw.
Best ship
100% believable dialogue
It is for Ally and Tubsy
>Tubsy's wiener it so huge it literally tears through Ally's womb
>"Pow. Real shit."
Her underdeveloped body can't even fit it in, she has to compensate by rubbing her flat chest against it. Tubsy doesn't mind because he is into size difference.
GANGSTA SHIT YOU FRICKING PLEBIAAAAAAAN
>I'm interested in why you think so.
Luckily, I also love suffering and self-pity/loathing in general, so I still very much "enjoy" seeing the adventures of Pasqualo.
>it is so goddamned funny, it hurts
Not that Anon, but I think what you're saying is fair and to an extent I agree. I think PFM is often funny, but not as often as IH and the highs are lower while the lows aren't as easy to gloss over because it takes itself more seriously.
I just think it's a bit odd you think it suffers immensely for it, that's quite a big statement and I don't think PFM is THAT much worse. IH was a bit of a lightning in a bottle.
Gob writing the average strip and then Josef coming in for the big emotional swings like the ending (and i presume stuff like Poop getting got) was a great balance, PFM's got me a couple of times but it hasn't got that insane spice that It hurts did
...
Cute zombie
anyone here played that RPG maker by Gob?
Wait what?
it's a game Gob made with RPG maker
I have, it's cute
Where can i play it?
it's in the website. just go down below and you'll find the game titled "Titty World"
This is one of my favorite pages in any comic.
I was terrified at that point it was so great how the tension was completely diffused
i love this
Perfectly encapsulated my feeling when I was fricking my life
The one where pasq has become a massive train thing and looks down to Ally's bow always sticks with me
>shock and realization
>attempt to remain optimistic
>it's not working, SMILE
>Shit...
This hits me hard
I want to pet Pasqualo but I know it wouldn't make her happy 🙁
you guys ever read gob's older comic, erik the juiceman?
you think maybe obstuangelo still made paurora a cyborg, despite the lack of an apocalypse?
No, I feel this new dad just is completely disinterested in his daughter instead of pure hatred. Especially since Pasqualo now fights back and doesn't quiver. He still has hat though, so maybe he did do *something*.
I love this comic so so so much. Aurora is such a special character, and so is Pasqualo. I love this comic, I love it. I love it.
Satan is best dad
he always has been
In comics like these I wonder how much Gob has to think about the bonkers dialogue, the exact phrasing, the precise amount of wows etc., or if it's just a complete stream of consciousness thing.
only this comic could have an earnest emotional moment involving the line "i love you satan"
