It might be an unpopular opinion on here but I like the Insomniac Spider-Man universe and want to see what other characters could appear in future installments.

I liked Spider-Man 2018. MJ and Peter's original looks, didn't dislike Miles being shoehorned in until he gets his powers and is hamfisted into the series as black Spider-Man. Cindy should have that spot but she's korean and not black.
You're getting Cindy in the next game.
Maybe that'll get me to play it as of right now I'm not playing Miles's game or the second one.
I honestly would not hate Miles if I knew he wasn't being pushed to replace Peter. I'd see him as War Machine more or less. Oh and if he had a different hero name.
Spider-Man already has his War Machine equivalent
?
Arguably Kaine is more like war machine than Ben but Ben’s story is closer to Rhody’s. Miles is just Riri without the in universe connection
I mean it's sort of a legacy thing they're going for but we all know Peter will be back for DLC and of course 3.
Keep clones the frick out of this universe. One of the worst things to happen to Spider-Man books. Hobie Brown was more "War Machine" than Ben
Clones aren't even in the top 5 worst things to happen to Spider-Man.
Also War Machine is Iron Man with some extra weapons and a new coat of paint. Sound familiar?
Spider-Man already has his War Machine equivalent
Spiderverse 2 made me hate Miles because they made so many other Spideys look sub double digit IQ in that chase scene.
>didn't dislike Miles being shoehorned in until he gets his powers and is hamfisted into the series as black Spider-Man.
In my opinion this is the least offensive/moronic Miles to date. No multiverse convoluted bullshit like you see in the original comic canon or Spider-Verse movies. He's treated as the new guy too, and had to learn.
>Cindy should have that spot but she's korean and not black.
She's actually teased at the end of 2. Not sure how it will play out though
>In my opinion this is the least offensive/moronic Miles to date
I think this is true, AND that is sucks shit. I'd put spiderverse 1 above this, but spiderverse 2 is an atrocity.
Really bad decision for them for killing Shocker in the 2hd game. Shockerchads, we were robbed.
Hey, at least he wasn't treated like a joke like in a lot of modern books
>Powerhouse
>Actually respected by Kraven
>Put up the best fight out of the Sinister Six
Heck I could see them retconning things where Kraven revived him with potions and let him go
Or he just faked his death.
No in the game kraven makes it pretty clear he killed him hand to hand. Them not doing a reference to the chase you to the ends of the earth scene really shows you how little love is in this multimillion dollar product
Anon you sound like one of those MCU morons with "I CLAPPED!!! I CLAPPED WHEN I SAW THE THING I KNOW!!!". We get it, it was a funny bit from the 90s cartoon. It has the same worth as Omni-Man's "Think Mark!"
It has more worth than the pointing meme does now, and they had no worries about shoving that dead meme in.
It seems odd for them to kill off the bulk of petes villains, even IF they would’ve been nothing more than repurposed fights for DLC. But since the first game ALREADY had a shocker chase, why not just do it again with yuri hamming it up?
I hate a lot of things about this universe
And that's okay too. People are allowed to enjoy or dislike what they want
this franchise turned out to be the biggest trojan universe i have ever seen. The first game sets up an interesting universe, with an interesting backstory, only to slowly become all about Miles becoming Peter's successor who's better than him in every way.
Look at US sports and you can clearly see that checks out
Eh, not entirely true. Miles sure as hell can't take on multiple Sinister Six members at once, and Peter was ultimately the guy that defeated Venom in the end
Killing off the bulk of villains is a separate issue, and more important of a criticism. Saying the game sucks because they didn't do a meme is moronic
The game sucks because it eats up half of its time on characters who aren’t peter one of which has NOTHING to do with peter beyond being his in universe better. The lack of reference to the meme just shows you that no one who actually ENJOYS the franchise worked on this major iteration of it
>Being this autistic over a meme and fabricating reasons why the game sucks around it's absence
You're legitimately moronic.
I consider a "War Machine" a secondary ally, which I would still give to Hobie Brown over Ben any day of the week given seniority
Was there a point in miles game that they forced you to play as pete? Or hell as ANYONE other than miles?
The writing for the second game was so lazy.
>How do we hype up Kraven as the big bad?
>Oh! I know! Let's have him kill the bulk of Spidey's most iconic villains!!!! That'll show how bad ass he is!!!!
Has it ever been explained why MJ is ugly now?
Muh realism
But pretty girls are real.
Uncanny Valley Effect
Peter uses his BND characterization resulting in him being a doormat with none of his edge
Everything about this version of MJ is terrible. She has no redeeming qualities
Miles is a nothing of a character that simultaneously has nothing to do in the story while also making Peter look bad in comparison
Killing off a huge swath of villains offscreen was moronic, and no amount of text logs saying how Kraven respected Shocker will make that any better
Having the rest of the villains be reformed off screen was also really fricking stupid, including ones like Sandman and Mysterio who we never even got to see be villains in the first place
For whatever god forsaken reason they've completely ignored Peter's supporting cast while also dedicating time to all of Miles's, which makes Peter come off as a friendless loser while also depriving us of some really great characters in favour of Miles's new deaf girlfriend
The way they handled Kraven was moronic by forcing him into this gang leader roll where he has his own private army when he's supposed to be the lone hunter
Venom was completely mishandled, as was Harry and the black suit in general.
They fully fell for the meme of Jonah only being a "Spider-Man BAD!" talking head, instead of him being a good newsman with a complex against superheroes
>Peter uses his BND characterization resulting in him being a doormat with none of his edge
This is untrue
>They fully fell for the meme of Jonah only being a "Spider-Man BAD!" talking head, instead of him being a good newsman with a complex against superheroes
But JJ was allowed to have good points in both games
No pete is solidly his post OMD self in both games, but you are right that JJJ is done well.
>No pete is solidly hi post OMD self
That is incorrect on the grounds he let Aunt May die to save New York alone
>He's a non character
Nice goalpost move.
> We haven't gotten any of Jonah actually caring about Peter
Someone clearly didn't play the flashback side mission when Peter got the job at The Daily Bugle
>Nice goalpost move.
What goalpost move. That has always been my point against Jonah. He's a non-character that exists to yell about Spider-Man
>Someone clearly didn't play the flashback side mission when Peter got the job at The Daily Bugle
That was a fun little mission, probably the best side mission in the game. It was a decent scene. But one scene does not a good character make. He is still a garbage adaptation throughout the rest of that game, especially MJ's subplot, and the first game
>What goalpost move.
You said JJ wasn't allowed to be anything more than an anti-Spider-Man nutcase, was given a counterargument, then weirdly shifted with a handwave statement of being a "non character" like it had any merit. Even Raimi JJ, which is universally loved, doesn't have what you want. That's the key thing when comparing a film or game to decades of material that is allowed to explore these things.
Spider-Verse is still worse than this.
>No Teeth
Still wrong. Example; his fight with Otto in game one, filled with anger and frustration, telling him off.
Pete briefly being mad at Otto doesn’t make up for him being a doormat for MJ bendisgay
>No counterargument
>Resorts to name calling
Why be like that, anon? I showed you courtesy, didn't I? Bendis is a fricking butthole, and I have reason to dislike the guy for the Jon Kent Superman stuff alone. You know that guy trash talked Tomasi in interviews? Frick him.
But we're getting off topic.
Anon pete has teeth AS Pete, him only getting mad at the end of the first game doesn’t make up for him being a doormat for MJ across two games anon. But I get it you like miles bendisgay and don’t like pete having character
>But I get it you like miles bendisgay and don’t like pete having character
Why are you making up nonsense when met with arguments? I'm willing to have a decent conversation with you if you're willing, or are you just going to fall back on shitposting?
Pete has no teeth and no friends miles takes up to much time that should’ve been devoted to Pete’s supporting cast making you realize how much the black suit was changing Pete. Instead we just got a few scenes of MJ or miles saving Pete than you were forced to BEAT Pete and show him for the b***h he was in order to get the suit off of him. Then the venom fight forced you to play as miles to win. What more is there to say?
>You said JJ wasn't allowed to be anything more than an anti-Spider-Man nutcase
And he's not. The most you've "proven" is that they hinted at Jonah being a character. As he has been presented thus far, he is not one.
>Bu-but muh Raimi
Nice deflection. I have a lot of issues about how the Raimi films characterised people, but even then he still had some integrity like when he defended Peter from the Green Goblin.
These games have no desire to explore the characters of Peter's supporting cast, which is why most of them aren't even present, Jonah is no exception. He just gets some screentime because XD pictures of Spider-Man!!!!
>And he's not.
But that's factually wrong. We've just been over this. What you're complaining about is JJ not having the opportunity to interact with Peter directly, which is a separate and frankly valid complaint to have. See the difference? And that's not a deflection, that was an example.
>but even then he still had some integrity like when he defended Peter from the Green Goblin.
and you get brief moments of that in the game too. Both examples are footnotes given the mediums and what they're allowed time to do.
He literally is. When your one example is a 5 minute, optional, sidequest that at most shows Jonah hiring Peter while giving him terrible advice, out of three games worth of appearances, you have nothing to stand on. MJ's subplot, which has a lot more screen time and is main path, does a lot more to show Jonah being a shallow man who only hates Spider-Man.
>and you get brief moments of that in the game too
Where? You've pointed out the flashback where he gives Peter a job. That's not the same but it's something. Where else is he anything but an anti-Spider-Man nutcase?
>Where else is he anything but an anti-Spider-Man nutcase?
In both games when there's a city wide crisis be it devil's breath or the symbiote invasion, JJ actually defaults to an inspiring voice of reason asking New Yorkers to band together. Again, you're mad that we didn't have enough one on one time with Jonah, which again is a valid issue to have with the game. However it's silly to call JJ one dimensional or a "non character".
Pete has no teeth, he never defends himself and has nothing to say. That makes him the b***h that Slott wants him to be anon, him killing may just makes the writers fine with Pete dying in the third game to solidify miles as the best spidey in their game
>But JJ was allowed to have good points in both games
He's still a non-character. He exists to scream funny lines and blame Spider-Man for everything. Being right a couple of times doesn't change that. We haven't gotten any of Jonah actually caring about Peter and the rest of the Bugle, nor does he display any regard for good journalism. He has zero nuance, and MJ's subplot only made him worse
bump
Why do miles gays always shirk away when confronted with the truth?
