That's fine, because the new one is worse.

Same, I lost all interest. He was way too old for that one which was over a decade ago. Doing more is just obscene

Obscene was the word. He couldn't even run so they had to do some creative camera work.

Honestly I liked it but one thing I felt the newest one did better was it made the action feel more weighty and real, I’m not sure why maybe the cgi was a bit too cartoony in this one

      Anonymous

The horrible CGI car chases in the new one were some of the dullest action scenes in any film of the last 25 years

what'd they do to cartman? i havent watched southpark in 10 years.

          Anonymous

Nothing. He's the same but they gave him (another) bad ending in the future, so homosexuals who barely watch the show are seething.

            Anonymous

didnt they do that ages ago with the moronic drug episode where cartman's future self was real and the others weren't?

it was funny when stan's parents cut off the actor's hand.

              Anonymous

Yep, that's why I said "another". Basically, Future Eric was a good israelite (no, really) but the boys managed to reset the timeline and Cartman ended up being a hobo.
              This kills the chud.

          >what'd they do to cartman?
they made him go from the spoilt fat kid that gets bullied to like some shit I can't even begin to explain. like you can't even tell me what cartman's character is anymore.

    Agreed.

    Cons
    > Shia swinging on vines.
    > Fridge survival.
    > Cate's death with her eyes bursting into flames was weak.
    > Arguably too much CGI (never bothered me)
    > Pushed Shia a little too much.

    Pros
    > Opening in Area 51 was solid.
    > Shia was shockingly decent, note the scene with him getting emotional while visiting the asylum cell Oxley stayed in.
    > I actually like them switching to a sci-fi mystery to change it up from the previous supernatural elements. Fits the 1950s time frame.
    > Cate was a fantastic villain. Her speech to Indy about brainwashing America was great.
    > Loved the moment with Indy completely baffled about the skull turning to Shia and saying "What is this thing?", Chilling.
    > Good overall mystery

      BASED
      >I actually like them switching to a sci-fi mystery to change it up from the previous supernatural elements. Fits the 1950s time frame.
      this
It shocked at first but I loved it afterwards: it totally fits the tropes associated to 1950s pulp (old-school serials were outclassed by fresher stuff), in the vein of Metal Slug (or Tintin), which embraced space stuff.
Having said that, it was indeed ruined by CGI and just look ugly and soulless, partly bc Ford as just too old.

It gets complained about a lot but I kinda love that fridge sequence. I think it sets off that we're in for a pretty zany comedic ride and the way Indy comes out of it just looking pissed off is hilarious.

Fridge itself was stupid but the core idea of "how would a guy try to survive if he was randomly stuck in a nuketown while the test was about to go off" is great. You can easily imagine yourself in this situation and it's fun to watch Indy try to get out of it cause he obviously ain't the kind of guy who's just gonna say frick it, give up and watch the atomic sunrise like many of channers would do.

It turns to shit as soon as they go to South America, damn shame because I was really enjoying the Cold War stuff going on in it up until that point.

It's a mixture of OLD GOOD NEW BAD mentality and "it's not AS good as the masterpieces before it, therefore it's terrible".

    Many such cases.

Well t3 is actually terrible, they had the potential for good stakes and an interesting concept with the birth of skynet but instead it becomes a derivative rehash with an ending at odds with the themes of the previous two movies.

Yes it was. It was fricking awful.
    >Go for help!
    >he goes, brings back the nearest people he could find; the ones who took them in the first place
Bear in mind, this was John Hurt; a remarkable actor who basically played a bit-part, playing a complete tard for some reason.
    John. Hurt.
Frick that dumb movie. Misusing characters is a writing mistake, but misusing quality actors is a fault in every facet of the production. Or, the other way round.

Old gay here, the problem with Crystal Skull is that it was released 19 years after The Last Crusade. All throughout the nineties and early 2000s you'd hear how Spieldberd and Lucas were working on the "perfect script", how multiple settings, plots, potential actors, etc were being discussed because they wanted the movie to be sooo good. And then what did we get? CGI gophers, and Shia swinging with monkeys. Wow, thank god they waited so long and got it right.

It was, but only the second half. The first half is pure kino. It's a movie that starts of strong and then gradually falls apart until it devolves into complete slop.

Yes the aliens and the fridge scene are kino. Just because the alien lore ends up becoming more and more convoluted and nonsensical, doesn't mean the concept isn't perfect for an Indiana Jones movie set in the fifties.
