>Sinbad (woman is kidnapped) >Shark Tale (woman is kidnapped) >Over the Hedge (woman is kidnapped) >Flushed Away (woman is kidnapped)
if you cant tell the difference in how these movies and the ones in the pic approach manipulation and power dynamics in romance, you are part of the problem
So if it were a male being kidnapped the power dynamic would be fine??? I legit don't understand this post the "damsel in distress" trope has been used since medieval times maybe even before that. If the criticism is that the female characters are just a prop for the main characters most DreamWorks films do a pretty good job imo in terms of fleshing out the "damsels". What the hell are you trying to say?
Sinbad is a good example of how NOT to combine 2D and CG. There's nothing wrong with combining both, as long as you do it right (90s/early 00s Disney films, The Prince of Egypt, Ghibli films like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, etc). However, Sinbad just doesn't do it right.
>Antz: 77 minutes/45 seconds >Shrek: 83 minutes >Shrek 2: 82 minutes/50 seconds >Shark Tale: 81 minutes/30 seconds >Madagascar: 79 minutes/10 seconds >Over the Hedge: 75 minutes/30 seconds >Flushed Away: 76 minutes
Why are Over the Hedge and Flushed Away shorter than the previous CG films? I'm obviously excluding the end credits for all of them.
>caring about numerical values like this
What autistic hole did you crawl out of? A movie's runtime doesn't matter, pacing is ultimate arbiter of how fast or slow a movie goes by.
>Sinbad
More like Sin... bad. Haha. Banger soundtrack though. >Shark Tale
Jumped the Shark >Over the Hedge
Over this movie >Flushed Away
Actually good, no pun required.
>The Time Machine >Star Trek: Nemesis >Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas
John Logan sucked as a writer for a while. Good thing he stepped up his game afterwards (The Aviator, Sweeney Todd, Rango, Hugo)
Flushed Away is the reason why that Astro Boy turned out the way it did. Dreamworks/Aardman story artist David Bowers was chosen to direct that adaptation simply because he had recently co directed Flushed Away.
>Balto, Prince of Egypt, Road to El Dorado, Chicken Run, Tortoise vs Hare (cancelled Aardman film), Shark Tale, W&G: Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Flushed Away (director debut), Astro Boy (director/writer)
All the Bowers credits from 1995-2009
>Road to El Dorado: 51 million domestically >Sinbad: 26 million domestically
Both were flops, but Sinbad was the biggest embarassment for Katzenberg. Don't forget that El Dorado came out before Shrek, unlike Sinbad. Plus, El Dorado at least got a Best Animated Feature nomination at annie awards. Sinbad didn't get nominated for shit.
very problematic (rape-coded) movies
Dude what?

These are winter boots.
hows a woman supposed to kidnap a man?
>Sinbad (woman is kidnapped)
Did you even watch the movie?
Stfu. Frick women.
You suffer from the writing equivalent of Missing White Girl Syndrome
No one does

Strange, Shrek 1 feels shorter than them

>Shark Tale
Road to Eldorado is that kind of movie that every decade the woke tries to cancel for colonizer propaganda.
I think the sheer amount of people horny for Chel negates that faction
Woke still tries it, it fails because kids have their sexual awakening with Chel but every new gen has the woke trying it
Over the Hedge was the only decent movie out of all those.
Brother nobody looks back fondly on Flushed Away, because that would require remembering that shit.
Hey I enjoyed that when I was like 7.
Oh wait no, that was Rubbadubbers never mind
The frick, it's a decent movie.

Over the Hedge and Flushed Away were very good movies.
Over the hedge is literally only remembered for the skunk and the opossum girls, and maybe the raccoon.
