      > how high do my estrogen levels need to be in order to think otherwise
Since it's supposed to be a show for teenage girls. Is that supposed to be an insult?

yes, because good shows can be enjoyed my anyone regardless of target demographic

Irrelevant. They both are empty designs, not helped by the personality they gave her.

Is it actually worth watching. I tried watching the first episode when it came out but it seemed really boring.

It’s definitely a required taste, being a lol so random pastel Tumblr teen comfort show. And Bee while having a hard time maturing is a part of her character, it took some time getting used to because she acts more womanchildish in the show than the pilot. But at least the show’s main focus is having fantasy sci-fi magical girl adventures, instead having the main plot and conflicts revolve around preaching about minority issues. It’s fine for what it is.

OK, but iirc, isn't Bee an ADULT? It's one thing for a 14 year old to have a hard time maturing from childish actions, but an adult should have better control. Why do these kinds of shows treat adults like teenagers?

Jesus Christ. What happened to the pilot concept of a young adult woman struggling to pay bills?

Because they're made by adults whom they and all their peers still act like teenagers.

The show was more grounded and Bee felt more like a young adult still having difficulties getting her life together that a literal womanchild that she is in the actual show.

Also the entire neighbor family was completely unnecessary.

She hit at exactly the right time when channel frederator was experimenting with high quality professional animation for YouTube. They were looking for projects to back for the experiment and her experience on various show including adventure time along with the unique pitch gave her an opportunity.
Unfortunately for her the YouTube algorithm changed soon after the first season dropped and the cartoon hangover concept was forced to move to vrv which pretty much killed all those shows. A second season was produced but never officially released, though I suspect it was purposefully leaked so all the work that went into it wouldn’t be for naught.
TLDR: right place right time. It couldn’t happen again.

honestly the art wasnt even the worst part of the show
yeah the characters looked like absolute dog, but the backgrounds were... pleasent. bland, but pleasent.
what really ate shit was the comedy. i never understood why it was so bad, but ever since tiktok got big it suddenly hit me. all the WHACKY FACES, silly voices and characters going "WHAAAAAAAAT!? *cartoon animal farts cutely or something* ... thats female comedy
thats the epitome of what girls think is funny.

Meh. Love her all the same. When you draw her series design as much as I have, you end up getting more used to it compared to the pilot version. Even if people think it makes her look like she has swollen limbs, I've still grown to love her curves and edges regardless.

The first red flag going from pilot to series was that her house was suddenly extensively decorated. The entire driving premise of the plot was that she was extremely hard up for cash. How'd she buy all that shit?

women care about aesthetics before everything else, including theming
they want to present bee as this cute uwu tumblr girl that everyone can relate to, but theyre physically incapable of relating to someone whos not in some way cutesy and presentable

this is a cartoon for women, stripped to its most basic juice of what women want from their entertainment

The show was destined to fail and was just profits for Frederator.
    >Spend money on nobodies working peanuts to create pilot
    >Use Kickstarter to fund nobodies' show
    >Don't use any actual staff or producers to watch the show's progress to keep costs low
    >Recoup pilot's costs and make profit through whatever was produced

  25. 2 years ago

Both look like shit, but there was no way in hell that the left would be regularly drawn that way. It would cost too much. The apron ruffles, alone, couldn't exist beyond a pilot/minimal scenes. It's just too much work for the garbage bin budgets that animation get.

I love Bee and Puppycat, it's really patrician for Cinemaphile though, I'm not surprised half the anons in this thread got bored and stopped watching. Lazy in Space is so fricking slow-paced and comfy, it's the opposite of modern ADHD fast-cut screaming cartoons.
