It still surprises me how this is one of the few shows that got better during its run instead of worse

because MacFarlane spent less attention on it over time
This. McFarlane's original vision for the show was conservative manly American father clashes with nerdy son and hippy daughter but then he went to focus on Family Guy and it just became about a bunch of weird buttholes and it's so much better for it.
I think it helps that the series shifted networks just as it was running out of steam. The last Fox episode is the Kim Kardashian guest appearance, which is one of the worst episodes in the whole run. The TBS seasons have their duds, but they're mostly great thanks to how absurd and experimental they get. Rabbit Ears is pure kino.
yeah
I thought it was the opposite
last couple of seasons have been pretty bad, even by macfarlane standarts
Yeah, they have been a bit random with their humor lately. We only get maybe a couple decent episodes a season now. Its a bummer American Dad used to get a good laugh out of me every other episode or so. Its still watchable sure but somethings changed
American Dad lives in the universe where everyone is openly bi out of convenience and humor or for the current plot with writing as they should be. It is the best way to to openly have humor with no constraints to avoid some whiny homosexuals views when you just want to have fun without caring about some political or personal views that never mattered to begin with.
Steve is just prone to funny obsessions due to puberty and awkwardness because its fun/funny.
McFarlane was a /misc/ gay , he left and it went away, simple.
mcfarlane is not a /misc/gay what are you talking about. he's very liberal
This, we've reached a real slump honestly.
How so?
>Jeff has become a prominant part of the main cast for years now
>One of the best episodes of the whole series was a Jeff episode
>Still not enough to be part of the promotional material
Why?
Because he's a israelite and israelites can go frick themselves.
Roger really needs to get his shit pushed in more often.
>Jeff succeeded in American Dad where Lucky failed in King of the Hill.
How did this happen?
Jeff is a nuance to most of the character especially Stan but he still tries to do right by them which I think makes him more likeable than Lucky who's kind of just there. Also he hasn't knocked up Hayley yet
>Also he hasn’t knocked up Hayley yet.
Make it happen Seth before this turns into the Cinemaphile version of the Chrisposting memes from the Resident Evil threads.
Pregnant Hayley when?
Jeff is irresponsible and obnoxious, but is - at his core - a decent guy.
Lucky is a piece of shit.
>Lucky
>piece of shit
He repays shaving cream Anon.
Technically Jeff has been in since episode 1. It's not like they brought him in later.
Either that, or your standards just got lower and lower during its run.
It started with a lot of Bush era political humor and then chose to be an absurdist comedy instead. It's easy to see how it got better
I stopped watching when I realized they had essentially written Akiko out of the show. The Halloween and the Spelling Bee episodes were some of their best.
I want them to be end game but that should be saved for the final season if they plan one. If he gets with her before the end they will no doubt break up for the sake of keeping Steve a single nerd.
...it's been about 10 seasons since they last referenced their romance.
Yeah but at least they were last seen together on a good note at the spelling be finals.
"Steve likes a girl" episodes are an immediate skip for me, I know they're never gonna have any kind of continuity so I just don't bother wasting my time on it
when they do we wind up with utter garbage like
I don't want steve happy. it's funnier when he's not.
"steve and friends in school" is typically a skip for me unless the B plot is good, I hate how the dynamics of the other characters are so much better for gags and stories but they keep falling back on shit highschool tropes
>"Steve likes a girl" episodes are an immediate skip for me, I know they're never gonna have any kind of continuity so I just don't bother wasting my time on it
agreed, they've done that type of plot probably the better part of 100 times by now and have beaten the horse into a dried up stain, at this point they just need to give him a permanent girlfriend and be done with it(kind of like how Hayley's plots massively improved after she married Jeff for the most part)
debby is superior in every way
even you dont even believe that lie
I had forgotten about Debby. Now that I remember her I always thought she looked too much like Hayley. Maybe that's why we haven't seen her in over a decade.
Brosnan would be proud
Somewhat
Because the character 14 fell/crushing for an 8 year old character at the end of the episode
She was only 8 in her first appearance, after that they aged her up to Steve’s age
no, anon means that at the end of the halloween episode she ended up with Doug. He can dance.
I disagree, for some reason around the time it started airing on whatever new station it was, tbs, fox? It got worse for me.
eh, I don't know. this last season.... eh.
>Average Klaus Enjoyer
klaus is the best. episodes where they're mean to him for no good reason are some of the worst.
>Danuta
>do you eat
Hands down one of my favorite episodes is the Arizona State one. It's infinitely more entertaining to see Klaus having a thriving social life and friends (even if most of them are degenerates) despite being a fish instead of the constant "oh woe is me" shit.
They keep trying to make Klaus into the Meg of that show and it just doesn't work.
Does anyone else notice how Toshi never had an episode about him? Barry and Snot have episodes where they're the main character along with Steve but Toshi is ignored. Closest thing to a Toshi episode is Akiko episodes.
hotdog episode was basically about him.
>I speak fluent english, and have the whole time.
>why do you always speak Japanese!?! I don't even speak japanese!
Haven't watched the show in ages, are they still doing that thing where Steve is gay and doesn't realize it?
Steve is Bi or a horny teen. He loves women and gets boner all the time around hot ones. But he also loves Snot and makes occasional comments about men. However the malexmale is for humor only and for all ents and porpoises he is straight.
It definitely did get worse though
Hayley's feet are my drug.
t.
y'know I just noticed that his photos are taken from different seasons of the show.
It still surprises me that when there's "America" in the title Americans will love something regardless of how shit it is.
Are you saying American Dad is bad? I am not American and I love the frick out of this show. I am however interested by your premise. Can you give a few examples of shows/other media that are bad but people only like them because the word "America" is in the title? Preferably the list is at least three to five examples long. Ten would be god tear.
it got better for a while, then it went downhill
Name your top ten episodes
And why
What did Stan mean by the "American Race"?
I think Stan is racist but in a weirdly wholesome and nationalist sort of way. So no Stan isn't literally racist. But just like how a white supremacist would think white people are just superior to all races. Stan thinks Americans are just superior to other countries. It plays into his super Americanistic personality. The whole "American exceptionalism" attitude. Like yeah, it's kind of toxic but also kind of sweet in a twisted sort of way. I think that's one of the reasons I like Stan as a character so much. He is an butthole but he is also a good guy.
>Stan thinks Americans are just superior to other countries.
In terms of the US's living and social conditions compared to most countries, he'd be right on that part.
What did Stan mean by the American Race?
Seth loves nostalgia. He loves the 80s.
Many anons are going to become like Seth just because of nostalgia from a period of time. In Cinemaphile we love family guy. But we don't realice we are like Seth the creator of the show.
somewhat
It's past its prime. Though the current AD I've seen is still better than the earliest ones. I still like watching it though.
Perhaps
Top of the Steve because of the all girls school
Top of the Steve because of Spitz
Top of the Steve because of The Babe
Top of the Steve because of Carla/Beth
Top of the Steve because of Spunky Rooster
Top of the Steve because of the gaggle of girls outside their dorm room
Top of the Steve because of the foreign student who will later be deemed offensive
Top of the Steve of Roger's girl outfit too dammit
A Starboy is Born because I like The Weeknd
Top of the Steve because of the girls going "ruff ruff"
meant for
>A Starboy is Born because I like The Weeknd
Gross
And yet Yin Yang Yo is still superior
Love this show so much that i started playing the mobile game American Dad Apocalypse soon..spent so much fricking money on that crap..
>still no Steve fricking Francine lookalike
needs more incest episodes
