He's some kind of secret agent called a "Beekeeper" and when he retires he becomes an actual beekeeper, and his neighbour gets scammed out of her life savings and an hero's, so he goes on a rampage against the guys that did it. It looks very stupid, so of course I'm going to see it on Thursday.
Do you think the creators/producers of The Transporter seethe whenever Jason Stathom just makes a new one without the name. Reminds me of drug dealers cutting out middle men.
The Transporter is a slightly different subgenre, that's "criminal gains a conscience and goes postal" rather than "retired vet gets pushed too far and snaps".
I watched The Transporter last night and it was a lot darker than I was expecting; the dude doesn't give a single shit that he's helping in what could be a kidnapping, rape, and/or murder of a girl who may well be under-aged, he was only annoyed that they tried to kill him, and he fully intended to leave her to her fate even after his rampage (they only ended up back together because she hid in his car while he was busy). Good movie tho.
I already saw it, I guess it was playing early at my theater, though I didn't know it was officially unreleased. It's complete trash. The dialogue is all like this: >Who is he? >Well, what you can tell me about him? >He said he was a Beekeeper. >Holy shit. >What?! >Don't you understand? >No. >The country is like a hive, and sometimes when the hive becomes imbalanced, you need an outsider to come in and shake it up to repair things. >What? >There's such a thing called a Queenslayer Bee, whose job it is to kill the leadership if she produces defective offspring. >Dude all I want to know is who he is. >He's the last thing you'll ever see.

Revolver was horrible, but Statham's best role besides the Guy Ritchie movies (barring Revolver) has to be Spy. A spin-off featuring his hilarious character should've started production immediately after Spy was released.
Statham is a martial artist. His whole career is making action movies. His ability to do comedy is a bonus but why would you want him doing anything else?
