I dont know why they dont bring in painters more often to design creatures. There are conceptual artists in the film industry but they are already told what to design and most of there reference points are other movies rather than free flowing creativity,
Everybody knows Alien should not have been a franchise. If i had a button in front of me that destroyed every sequel, spin off, comic, book, game or anything related to it; I would push it right away.
that’s the exact problem with you sci-fi nerds, you worship original texts/sources like the Bible. The goal of a film should be one thing and one thing only: to be a good film. Alien is a good film and whether it respects or takes a big fat shit on the lore is irrelevant.
I actually like Alien because its lore is not spelt out. There are a lot of questions left to your imagination and every answer that has become 'canon' sucks.
The future marine aesthetic and lore is amazing and the colony is peak CRT future kino but everything else about Aliens fricking sucks. Like Terminator 2 it's a movie every one says they love but in actuality they only love a few of the design choices while the plot itself is shit.
Terminator 2 is a great film. Terminator 1 is grittier and the plot is awesome but 2 has great character moments with Sarah and John. Also the action scenes are great, it’s undeniable. I can take 2 not having much of a plot because it’s a continuation and a look into John’s past. We saw plenty of the future in 1.
If not for Cameron, Alien would just be a single, obscure one of slasher movie set in space that you might not even heard of. Because it didn't get multiple sequels, tons of comics, toys, and vidya due to the insane jump in popularity following the smash hit Aliens
More people to get face hugged means more aliens. I don't think they diminished the alien in the sequel at all, and were constantly showing their intelligence and ability to adapt to unknown things the humans did And the original alien would have died just as easily if they could have used guns. In face it died like a b***h to a harpoon gun, danging on a rope tumbling in zero g then getting cooked like a roast chicken.
I'm pretty pleased with this thread because most of the time I'm the only one shitting on it.
Yes it's a good movie and it works, but it fricked the xenomorphs pretty hard and I can't forgive it for that.
It inspired a lot of terrible comics and games, but the movie isn't that bad to the xenomorph. They only start to become cannon fodder when Ripley goes into the hive to save Newt. The rest of the time they have the marines on the run and managed to kill most of them in the two fights they have.
The 2003 Director's Cut is the most kino cut of them all. That one seen alone with Brett cocooned on the wall was not just purely creepy and terrifying it also added another ambiance to the Alien that we hadn't experienced. Such a mistake to remove it from the film.
I like the scene but it does get in the way of pacing. Its also not as fully realised as it should have been. I think i heard Ridley saying that was another reason it was cut. Id love to see all the deleted scenes from the movie though including the infamous airlock sequence.
I personally believe them to be a combination of biological and artificial materials. I think they are able to consume or integrate artificial and biological materials into itself or create a habitat, eggs or food from them.
>sequel to Alien
>has multiple aliens
Cameron is a genius
The aliens could refer to to terraformers who settled on their planet and the marines who murder them after taking back what was rightfully theirs.
We could have had sexy female xenomorphs but Aliens reduced the mythology to bugs.
where does the dicksucking lips design come from?
Giger himself. It also had a barbed tongue that would pull out your intestines after being stuck down your throat.
Cute
>Degenerate homosexual coomer needs to state that he's a degenerate homosexual coomer
Not one bit surprised. Now Kys
probably wouldn't have got Species though
It's a dumb design. One of the best things about the xenomorph is the translucent lips.
Aliens destroyed the Alien franchise
it completed it and there shouldn't have been anymore
Ant queen is just bigger, badder ant
Bee queen is just bigger, badder bee
Spider queen....... I sincerely hope you will never see one

I'm glad you finally see it.
I wish we could just give every sci-fi dork 100mil to make EXACTLY the alien film they want just so they can see how shit it ends up.
Everybody knows Alien should not have been a franchise. If i had a button in front of me that destroyed every sequel, spin off, comic, book, game or anything related to it; I would push it right away.

Yeah, but mine would be good. It would be an animated anthology like Heavy Metal or The Animatrix.
Hello, woman.
Hello homosexual.
Those hands are just so, so wrong. Why do that?
soul
So what was the big surprise suppose to be then?
TWO ALIENS? Come on man. What do you expect?
The future marine aesthetic and lore is amazing and the colony is peak CRT future kino but everything else about Aliens fricking sucks. Like Terminator 2 it's a movie every one says they love but in actuality they only love a few of the design choices while the plot itself is shit.
Too bad Cameron ripped off Starship Troopers.

>remember that spooky alien from the first movie? now there are hundreds of them and they all die like bugs
aliens sucked more than prometheus
>aliens sucked more than prometheus
based.

starkiller force crush?
>It's two mothers facing each other
Bravo James
Can someone shoop a flare in her hand so it's like my other favorite movie, jurassic park?

For me there is Alien, and the other movies. The Queen was not from Giger's vision for example.
It wasnt anybody's vision. Its makes them pedestrian when the whole point was to make it 'alien'. Its in the fricking title.

Same here. I'm aware the original cut was around 3 in a half hours. Would love to see all the cut material.
I personally believe them to be a combination of biological and artificial materials. I think they are able to consume or integrate artificial and biological materials into itself or create a habitat, eggs or food from them.
>The space jockey had an ant collecting hobby
>tfw no alien ant farm
>Giger wasnt allowed to design anything on Aliens because he had a contract for Poltergeist 2
His designs were so underused.
