other than the stylistic design, theres nothing memorable from it, the idea of a barbie thinking about death was actually funny and creative but it quickly dissolves into hevy trite social commentary, lost all its potential, all good, not a bad movie, but nowhere near a strong one

My problem with it is that I can see a good movie buried in a lot of poor decisions. The dance scene from the beginning and the Ken war at the end is evidence of this. Most of the shit surrounding these scenes are bad. Everything at mattel was a waste, having the ghost woman was a huge mistake, having Robbie literally cry in half her scenes was a catastrophic tone killer, and of course the America speech towards the end was silly.
Overall, it was disappointing because the beginning showed promise yet the tone was butchered by CURRENT YEAR nonsense that will age like milk
Do you ever consider that maybe some things are made to be enjoyed in CURRENT YEAR and that’s okay? It’s a time capsule, in 50 years we can look back and see what people thought of gender issues now
I mean, maybe. But given the current trajectory of the social climate, do you really think that anyone will enjoy ANY media made in current year 50 years from now? I mean, things from 10 years ago are so "problematic" that a large portion of audiences won't even engage with them. Disney movies, of all things, need content warnings
>The message was sloppy. Its trying to say equality.
No kidding it was sloppy. The ending narration really got me. No kens on the barbie supreme court! Maybe one day kens will have as much power on the supreme court as women
Idk what that's supposed to mean since half of the supreme court IS women but whatever. I'll just chalk it up to feminists having a loose grasp on reality
That Kens are lower class citizens in Barbieland than even women in the real world, and that it takes time and effort to attain equality? Making any one group in charge, men or women, Barbie or Ken, even just flipping it, doesn’t help?
I can’t even believe how cut and dry the “Maybe one day Kens will have as many rights as women in the real world” came off to you as feminists having a “loose grasp of reality.” I think you have a loose grasp of being able to understand the words your brain sees and hears.
>it takes time and effort to attain equality?
You really can't make that comparison without thinking about history and geopolitics, which Greta Gerwig clearly didn't because woman.

You really didn't even try. Women operate differently, so an actual mirror world wouldn't be anything like our own. If anything, it'd be worse.

You’re making all the leaps and bounds to try to protect yourself from a really simple message. I’m done talking with you, I’m going to bed.
Margo is so pretty
It wouldve been a Mean Girls/Legally Blonde chick flick classic if they removed the overtly hamfisted politics from it
it was a pro-men movie
greatbaitmate
CAN. YOU. FEEL.
THE. KENERGY?
I feel 1billion.

Goose carried it
The fact that you make this statement makes you part of the problem. Begone.
nah, it was genuinely funny. i doubt you've seen it. you can just pirate it, you know.
Ken did nothing wrong
Its a Deceitful move that relied on tricking people
to suffer through a misandrist feminist rant done by a ugly mexic**t
>gender issues are tough, even for men
>MISANDRIST
I am Kenough

It's 2023 and people get mad over irrelevant shit as a pastime activity.

The message was sloppy. Its trying to say equality.
No it didn’t. The message is unironically “I am (K)enough”
Thats just memes.
