You guys need to open your eyes.
you need to open your wrists
i know you're just doing this for attention, killing yourself will get you lots more
You will never ever be a woman
You need a brain.
I really wanted to like them but the directing is so horrible is practically non-existent. What is the point of telling a story through film if you're not going to use visual language
>novels of old.
The novel was created in 1926
Don Quixote came out in 1615
Lol no. The prequels are shit and always will be. Redlettermedia was right about everything.

its on par with the clifnotes of shakespeare. as thats all george ever read.
the third movie was absolutely the best of all star wars, and one of the greatest movies ever made. the first was also extremely good
the japanese dub is on another level as well, if you haven't seen it:
what would happen if everyone on earth apologized to george at the same time?
>ROTS shills in overdrive
Christopher Lee is wasted, Grievous is lame, Padme and Anakin still go together like oil and water, Anakin's fall to the Dark Side is completely unconvincing, his reasons for falling are stupid, and Padme gives up on life even though she's got twins on the way.
It's also got more of Lucas' meme-tier dialogue, like "FROM MY POINT OF VIEW THE JEDI ARE EVIL" and "I HAVE THE HIGH GROUND."
Awful post
nah he's correct, you just have shit taste.
nope. He made the movies with the clear intent of appealing to children and trying to make more toys. You've got it the other way around.
>Christopher Lee is wasted
I sort of agree, but that's how fun Christopher Lee is. Star Wars is meant to be pulp. And Dooku getting killed like that is shocking. He had to be wasted for this effect to work
>Grievous is lame
He is cinematically interesting, while being too little of a threat. Obi-wan handles him well, but not exactly what star wars is about. I wish Dooku and Grievous played bigger parts in all 3 PT movies.
>Padme and Anakin still go together like oil and water
Not every couple is perfect, some times people just get together. This not working actually works too. The two don't see eye to eye in the end and were destined to break up.
>Anakin's fall to the Dark Side is completely unconvincing
It could have been done better, I agree. Should have had him lose to Grievous and been tempted to use dark powers to stop him. Give Anakin some agency on wanting to be more powerful, but Lucas wanted it to the emporeor who made him evil. Whatever.
>Padme gives up on life even though she's got twins on the way.
Yea, also dumb. Fricking injure her, or have her live. Everyone immediately referenced the ROTJ line "remember your mother, your REAL mother" and ROTS ruined that moment of Leia remembering her mom with this. Which circles back to AOTC having Owen being tacked on as "anakins brother" to fix that issue.
>the third movie was absolutely the best of all star wars,
since it's a prequel and the main outcome was already known this claim is untrue by definition
I find it amazing that on their own the first two movies are range from mid to bad and yet the third one is such a great and satisfying conclusion it both justifies and enriches the first two in retrospect and perfectly connects with the originals.
In here we see the intention of the artist sell toys and tell kids about real politicians
They are basically Anakin
>the intention of the artist sell toys
It's actually the other way around. He sold merch to fund the movies. The Prequels are the world's most expensive indie films.
the original trilogy was meant for that too
They are art, which is more you can say for all shit pushed today, but they're really not Shakespeare. Lucas is a genius, and clearly also an idiot, he's autistic, it's on his face, you can read it.
What you can say about Star Wars is that it captures the imagination because there's something relatable or "true" in it which is perhaps beyond the rational or conscious. I think this often influences what works become hugely popular and influential, aside from joo astroturfing, obviously.
And also lightsabers are really cool. If only Frank Herbert came up with them Dune would be the most popular piece of fiction ever created, not Star Wars, but alas, it was George Lucas that came up with it.
>They are art, which is more you can say for all shit pushed today, but they're really not Shakespeare.
the OT however DOES have some things in common with shakespeare. lucas created some phrases that are widely recognizable
also the OT features some very good drama
killed star wars for twenty years and relegated it to a cartoon series which rehabbed the franchise for them to make something far far worse called the sequels
these threads might as well be rian johnson and jj abrams having a goon session in discord because these homosexual threads are humiliation rituals
It didn't "kill star wars". the movies made a ton of money. George simply didn't WANT to make any more films. That's literally the only reason they stopped. They easily could have kept going and people would have shown up to watch them
Stopping at 3 was a good idea. Disney should've waited even longer. They basically immediately went to work and then shit out 7 very fast when all is considered. The buyout was 2012 and the turd dropped only 3 years later. Taking into account all it takes to make a movie, that's not very long. Also it had only been 9 years since 3. The gap from 4-1 was a lot longer.
Don't disagree. Wasn't trying to imply that he shouldn't have stopped
yup
Friendly reminder that the opening sequence to ROTS is to this day the most kino space battle filmed in the 21st century by a landslide.
I feel sorry for the poor souls who didn't get to witness Phantom Menace in theaters a few weeks ago
Originals are better for
>Art direction
Prequels are better for
>Casting choices
>Acting
>Score
>Plot
>World building
>Soul
Overall, prequels win, but the art direction in the originals is spectacular on a level that's hard to comprehend. Unfortunately, they are rather bland otherwise
No. Not even close.
Infinitely better than the originals. It's transcendent
im sorry but my life is too valuable spending it talking to double-digit iq people
0/10
TPM is a really good adventure movie about the disruption of harmony and the loss of innocence, the most underrated Star Wars movie by far (I'm not considering Disney shit).
AOTC I think is really disorderly because they tried to do a love story but had to force in a bunch of action as well. At times it is even confusing and chaotic on purpose.
ROTS is pure tragedy kino and you need high IQ to truly understand the emotional depth at play. I suggest reading the novelization by Stover if you need it spelled out for you.
All of this is garbage and that picture is from a Twitter shill
That picture is insane and very likely a stretch, but as a prequelchad I choose to believe
>It's a Shakespearean tragedy on par with novels of old.
This is what happens when you don't read or understand classic literature at all. The prequels are on par with a fricking Flash Gordon pulp.
I think two of the biggest issues with ROTS was cutting more scenes of Anakin with Palpatine, and the scenes with Padme and the eventual Rebel leaders. The latter slows the pace, but is important and builds Padme’s character, while the former really hammers in how Anakin turns, especially the part with Palpatine convincing Anakin Padmé is cheating on him with Obi-Wan. Which makes his latter comment and reaction more sensical
>You’re with him! You brought him here to kill me!
That story thread is not about Anaking thinking they are having a sexual affair, but rather athat the senators that Padme was aligned with were in collusion with the Jedi council to overthrow Palpatine.
Forgot to say that the question of cheating is something Anakin thinks about but not really for long, Palpatine moreso manipulates him into thinking Padme and Obi-Wan are meeting in secret behind his back to plan the plot to kill/depose Palpatine
I think one of the biggest problems with ROTS is the all digital sets and generally most of the scenes are just walking and talking theres no room to do anything and the actors dont look like they are in a real place, you see in the scene where Anakin comes to save the chancellor he comes running in and then slows down to a brisk stroll because the set is so small from all the greeen screen stuff theres no room to move around.
Like maybe for the space ships and Mustafar I could understand but why didn't Lucas use real places for coruscant, the whole movie looks like people moving around in a PS2/PS3 cinematic.
I think thematically what the movies should have played on is how Anakin turned to the dark side after loss of confidence in the jedi after his arm was cut off and he sought to use cybernetic enhancements and other forbidden techniques to enhance his strength. If anything his turn to the dark side should involve killing General Grievous not Obi-Wan as Anakin should be known as the hero who ended the Clone Wars by killing Count Dooku and Grievous, then the real solidity of him turning is Mace Windu coming to kill the Chancellor and Anakin kills him in a duel, I think really the whole burning thing is a mistake and Anakin's transformation into Vader should have been one of choice and maybe accident as Obi-Wan remarks, "hes more machine than man now, twisted and evil" Do you think that dialogue fits when the reality is that Vader is in the machine suit thanks to Obi-Wan cutting off all his limbs and leaving him for dead?
I think Anakin turning to the darkside should have had very little to do with Padme, that should have been a lie, the reality of it should have been that Anakin craved power due to insecurity along with mistrust of the Jedi seeking to undermine him as it should be made abundantly clear that Anakin has major disagreements with Mace Windu and Yoda about how the force is employed and general philsophy but the movies never do this.
The prequels aren't super complex stories, but they are complex enough that they filter out a big chunk of people.
Mr. Plinkett does not understand basic plot points. One of his first big critiques is complaining that the Trade Federation is blockading Naboo, but a Trade Federation should be trading, so why would they blockade?
He doesn't grasp that unraveling that mystery IS the plot. The movie is literally called The Phantom Menace, as in a phantom, a ghost, you don't know who the menace really is.
This kind of storytelling is very Shakespearean, where you have these immediate storylines carving out the bigger story line, but that bigger storyline is never spelled out for you and you need to pay attention.
I never viewed this films as that super deep or complex, but given how many people cannot grasp the plot properly at even a basic level, perhaps George really did nail it here and I should be rating the prequels higher.
George filtered most of the audience, which is kino and based. And motherfrickers still bought the toys lmao.
>This kind of storytelling is very Shakespearean, where you have these immediate storylines carving out the bigger story line, but that bigger storyline is never spelled out for you and you need to pay attention.
Are you moronic?
Most Star Wars fans are just really dumb, I mean we're talking about people who hear the word "senate" and their brains shut down.
The way Palpatine subtly manipulates Amidala into initiating the vote of no confidence was masterful. I can see why people would miss it, it is genuinely pretty subtle and starts with suggestions and innuendos that prey on her insecurities and fears
The only thing Shakespearean about Star Wars is the fact that it's a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
watch the RLM reviews
I will do that
problem is: SW is childish and not well told.
watch Arcane if you want to know what needs to be done for a job well done in both these matters.
Wrong.
The Problem is that the OT WAS well told but put only put little regard to world building.
Everything was well structured so there were little contradictions but you know anything beyond what was seen in the trilogy was just void. There was also not that Star Warsy cancer and the attempt to cannibalise itself with probably the only exception of giving Anakin as Force Ghost a robe, cementing the thought that Obi Wan actually was hiding all the years while wearing his fricking Jedi robe.
I would bet my life savings you have not read a book published before 1950
the folly of George Lucas as he destroys his craft in pursuit of perfection
