I think it's more special than The Prince of Egypt. Why? Because the CG studio behind it never made a CG film before. It was something new for them. Meanwhile, 70% of the Prince of Egypt staff came from the studio that previously made these 3 films (Amblimation) and the other 30% were Disney Renaissance people. They fully knew what they were doing. It wasn't something new for them like it was for the Antz studio.
Prince of Egypt was more culturally significant because it was the first genuine Abrahamic faith film to be animated for a wider audience instead of bargain bin crap, especially in an era where Christianity was losing their grip on the cultural zeitgeist. Antz is just a middling CGI movie playing catch-up to Pixar.
>Antz was better because the others were made by artists who knew what they were doing
Listen buddy, Antz is great but what you just said is moronic. Art doesn't need to be a new medium to be good or special. In fact building on existing technique allows it to evolve and become better.
Like Antz all you want but don't go around shaming other films for their chosen medium just to justify it.
>1995 : Toy Story, Pocahontas >1998 : Antz, Prince of Egypt
I stand by what i think. Even if Pocahontas had turned out better than Toy Story, latter would be more special because it was that crew's first time making a film.
>latter would be more special because it was that crew's first time making a film.
So? That's actually a ding against it, I'd rather see a work from someone experienced and proven in their craft rather than that of novices experimenting. Novelty is not the end all, be all of art.
So a first time runner should be given the gold medal, because the athlete trained and is thus "less special"?
Picasso's only masterpiece is el picador because that's his first painting?
Nah! It's garbo and the OST is the only saving grace
I can't belive that this flick started the "all celebs" VA cast trend, they are all specially terrible in this
Pacific Data Images logo for the entirety of Antz' production and 95% of Shrek 1' production. They changed it just a few months before Shrek premiered.
and it was later changed to this for their next films (Shrek 3, Madagascar 2/3, Megamind, Peabody & Sherman, Penguins of Madagascar) before they closed down in 2015.
>Toy Story (Pixar Animation Studios) >Antz (Pacific Data Images) >Dinosaur (The Secret Lab) >Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius (DNA Productions) >Ice Age (Blue Sky Studios) >Shark Tale (Glendale division of Dreamworks) >The Polar Express (Sony Pictures Imageworks) >Arthur and the Minimoys (BUF Compagnie) >Dragon Hunters (Mac Guff)
First films by those CG divisions, some of which had existed for many years before production on those films started.
Imageworks later became the CG facility of Sony Animation (starting with Open Season and Surf's Up) and Mac Guff later became the CG facility of Illumination (starting with Despicable Me and The Lorax)
Still pissed that fricked up basic ant biology, I can look the other way over the fact that all soldiers and workers are female. But the idea that a worker and new queen can mate. The frick?
Which one of them has the tightest hole though?
Ah yes the breakout role of drunk scout
A Bug's Life is better

Why didn't Woody Allen work on more cartoons?
To quote ghostpolitics of True Capitalist Radio: "WOODY ALLEN, BUTT-LOVIN' PEDOPHILE!!!"

Fievel Goes West had such a hot near vore scene
>voreBlack person spotted and detected
I know about those shorts, but making a short isn't the same as making a 78 minutes film.

First animation film composed by either of them. It's a quality soundtrack.

You really like the sound of your own voice, huh?

There is something very cool about CGI from the 90s. I love how this looks.
