Every movie that was good in the past "holds up" now because the quality of the films being produced has gone down. It's only stuff from the past 10 years that you have to worry about having a short shelf-life.
This was basically just a porno with an extra hour of filler, because the exact plot is told to the viewer early on and, surprise, the exact plot that was told to you happens with no changes.
The movie is literally only known for her exposing her vegana in that interrogation scene.

when i think of basic instinct, i immediately think of his dorky look here and his face melting when he's fricking tripplehorne
why was his face melting? does anyone else know what i'm talking about
I think the writer Joe Erzterhas' story is very interesting. He wrote the script in a blaze of drugs and booze in 2 weeks. He was a hard guy, and got paid a million dollars for the script, the largest payout ever. He also wrote a script called Sacred Cows about a president scandal involing him fricking a cow when he was younger, everyone read it and loved it including Speilberg, no one had the balls to make it. Funny Brit PM Cameron's pig fricking came out later and no one cared, standards have dropped so far.
It isn't just porno, its really a noir, femme fatale film. I really like it and has some really dark truths in there. It practically started the erotic thriller genre too which was great as a teen back then because you could get boobs and fricking without getting an actual porno, there was no internet.
Basic Instinct was a global hit, a cultural phenomenon
Verhooven doesn't want a second shot. He got sick of Hollywood's shit after Hollowman and retired back to Holland where he made some shitty dutch movies again.
Movies that relied on violence and sexuality aged like milk. Any stupid horror movie for teenagers takes it up to 11, thus making a clockwork orange, madonna, salo, etc be incredibly dated
>Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone had to wear genital pads during the sex scenes, due to the AIDS epidemic.
What, so otherwise they would have had they junk out rubbing up against each other??
Better than 99% of movies made the past ten years, but yeah, that doesn't mean it 'holds up', but I still love it for the Hitchwiener-tribute cinematography and the excellent soundtrack.

Nah, it's still good
true, cinematography and sound mixing have taken a nosedive, a lot of things sound like background mumblings in an altman film now

Could they have made this man look any dopier for the clubbing scene? Why was he the go-to erotic thriller guy anyway?
>Gay actor Michael Douglas
He probably got AIDS from that bawd too.
Because he's gay actor Michael Douglas.

Maybe he was eating her pussy?
>Why was he the go-to erotic thriller guy anyway?
He has an innate kino factor.
He was Le Sex Addict Man
3rd act is all over the place
movie goes down hill after the "rape' with titty tripplehorn
ending stone sex scene sucks
>the "rape' with titty tripplehorn

Wait so it wasn't Trippletitty it was all just set up by Sharon Stone? Pls b patient I am not bright.
Instead of being distracted by MD buttocks you should have been paying attention
I honestly lost interest and would fastforward the prolonged sex scenes because they were boring and embarrassing.
