It's been eight years since the release of Sausage Party. Despite boasting of being the first real adult R-rated feature in animation and franchising itself, why has it mostly been forgotten over the near decade?

Because it was shit.
FPBP.
I think personally that it tried too hard. So many of the jokes felt forced and all. I also don't enjoy that kind of lowbrow humor that much.
You homosexuals think everything is shit. Post things you like.
No. Sausage Party is terrible. That's how it will always be.
Post things you like or I'll kick your ass.
But we're talking about sausage party
I do, just not in this thread because that would be off topic.
>Post things you like.
I don't know if it's an unpopular opinion but I think Coonskin is Bakshi's greatest movie. Or at least my favorite
I really liked Heavy Traffic. Coonskin was good but it just felt a bit too all over the place.
I liked it more than Heavy Traffic simply because even tho I love Heavy Traffic I didn’t really like it’s ending. But I love the ending to Coonskin. The Song of the South inspired ending where Brother Rabbit gets the monsters stuck in the tar baby, and quotes Bre’r Rabbit’s famous line, “If you don’t say hi by the time I count to two imma bust you. ONE TWO!” The way Brother Rabbit said it is so fricking cool and the way it ends with the story ending the two prisoners escaping successfully is perfect. Ralph set out to make fun of Blaxploitation, yet in the end he made one of the best Blaxploitation movies of all time, hell even Blaxploitation documentaries mention and celebrate Coonskin
I just don't usually like edgy shit is all
Now, you bring back Sym Bionic titan, Cartoon Network. You bring it back, now. And don't make it shit. Just air the re-runs if you aren't already.
No matter how many threads about this show you make, they won't ever bring it back.
something like mlaaturd has even more chances of coming back than this show. let it go bro
>post things you like
anon stop plz

/thread/
was the first thought i had before i even clicked the damn thread
I sat in and enjoyed not even 5 mins worth of this movie.
Other movies you hate you can laugh at how bad it was but not this one.
it was TRASH
and I didnt even need to see it
r-rated animation is NOT new
Shit is at least funny. Sausage Party was cardboard.
and its gonna dissapear from earth when your favorite israelite seth rogen dies
Because it was a dumb one-joke movie.
The lingering stink from how it basically treated its animators like slaves didn't help either.
qrd?
peak dudebro comedy.
it's a hit or miss
If by peak you mean peak shit then yeah it is peak.
you just hate end of movie orgies
I thought it was hotdog time?
nah that was the bargain bin mockbuster version
I liked it up until the gay orgy ending
>Despite boasting of being the first real adult R-rated feature in animation and franchising itself, why has it mostly been forgotten over the near decade?
Because it wasn't the first R-rated animated movie. This also answers your question, a movie needs more substance than simply "what if the hot dogs said frick?" to have any staying power.
It needed to tell some fricking jokes or something.
>"what if the hot dogs said frick?"
LMAO
Eh it’s not really memorable Anon, nothing ground breaking in it, it’s a basic Seth Rogan film honestly.
Jesus fricking Christ nobody remembers Fritz the fricking cat huh?
Fritz was X rated.
Which is basically oldschool R-Rating with the sex and the drugs.
X was rated R before they changed the letters after porn started calling itself Rated XXX.
X = R
XX = NC-17
XXX = PORN
>Despite boasting of being the first real adult R-rated feature in animation
Why was Sausage party supposed to be a big deal again?
Because like most things in pop culture people don't care about the history of the medium until some moronic celebrity or big company takes a crack at it.
>Despite boasting of being the first real adult R-rated feature
This board disgusts me now.
moron, the marketers/producers/rogen/etc were the ones boasting
For some reason, I remember the trailer for this movie being aired on Cartoon Network. Not Adult Swim, Cartoon Network. I swear I'm not crazy.
Aren't people still trying to get paid for working on this movie?
Pic related is the only American-made adult animated movie from this century that’s actually mature.
Because it was a fricking piece of mean-spirited shit, like 90% of everything Seth Rogen touches.
The only good thing about Hollywood going woke is the complete disappearance of "raunchy" comedies of Rogen and his ilk from theaters.
Going woke didn't kill those. Streaming did. There's no reason to go to a movie theater and shell out 15+ dollars to see a fat israelite saying he likes to frick donuts when you know that same movie will be on Netflix in two months. They don't make enough to be profitable, they usually only show up for 2 weeks so they can be nominated for awards(not that they usually are, but it costs them little for the distribution and it might wind up being a continually snubbed actor's last film), and then they'll be off to streaming.
>like 90% of everything Seth Rogen touches.
yknow, i was gonna question this, but then i was reminded that in preacher he had custer send assface to hell and not really give a shit about it in the end. as well as that fricking ending he came up with.....
>It's been eight years since the release of Sausage Party
Jesus Christ I'm getting old.
Happens to all of us.
bad writing. the worst way to go about making a cartoon for adults is with the mindset that 'childrens' cartoons have cute likable characters so my adult cartoon should have ugly unlikable characters'
some people should be banned from the industry.
Turns out the bad guy wasnt supposed to be a niche archetype but it was how seth views ALL white male gentiles.
Seth Rogen peaked in 2007 and nobody came in to take his place. That in and of itself is the reason he's worn thin instead of being remembered fondly as a period writer like the Zuckers.
Cause it was a "Heh, weed, dude", and nothing else
this movie helped kickstart the Canadian union movement.
the movie is trash but it has a significant roll in the downfall of service studios
imagine being such slave-laborers studio, that you singlehandedly motivate a country to improve their labor practices due to how shitty your conditions are.
Pffffhahahaha
Christ are you serious?
Also what the frick I thought this was an Irish production not a Canadian one
> significant roll in the downfall of service studios
Well that’s interesting. Could you elaborate? Like what’s the difference between a typical animation studio and a service studio? What is a service studio and further more, what happened to them after the Sausage Party controversy?
I was kinda surprised to see that Sausage Party actually had an interesting message about faith and religion.
>I was kinda surprised to see that Sausage Party actually had an interesting message about faith and religion.
>interesting
Bro that movie was the most b***h basic liberal science idea any liberals could come up with. Its literally just a Family Guy joke gone on for and hour and 30 minutes.
gen Xers/early Millenials learned about atheism and let it define their whole personalities.
it's partially responsible for hazbin hotel's success
You forgot to mention this character is a nazi lol
I thought it was just his boyfriend Mr. Mengel
They all were so cringe
Makes perfect when you consider how similar it’s humor is Sausage Party
Also I remember her making a review video about Sausage Party where she defended the treatment of the artists. Make of the with what you will
Aside from the fact that it just wasn't funny or good, I'm pretty sure everyone knows there have been R-rated animated movies before. Fritz the Cat and Coonskin are right there, and Akira is one of the most famous animated movies ever.
I remember my reaction of the news of this movie
>oh boy a R rated cartoon movie? I bet it will have cool bloody action scenes or deep stuff!
>oh...its just family guy tier jokes...
You frickers loves South Park, and also hates Sausage Party when it's the same shit.
>You frickers loves South Park
Only fujos and pedos on here like south park and it should be obvious why those show no interest in sausage party
It really isn't the same, South Park at least has decent characters
>It's been eight years since the release of Sausage Party
Only saw clips of this I won’t lie but it’s so obviously low brow and childish. Family guy type shit. Just because it’s rated R doesn’t mean it’s good man
Also
>first R rated animated movie
This simply isn’t true. Fritz the cat was the first X rated movie which is a higher rating. Unless you mean it’s the first R rated technically which just doesn’t matter. Also fritz the car was dogshit to for the same reason(and for having a nonsense plot). It’s animation was better though and it had some interesting artistic moments like the sound from the bar scene being from an actual bar I think
It seems like any movie with this “Damn this so edgy because it’s rated R!” Gimmick will inevitably be almost definitely trash.
On top of being terrible, Seth Rogen and his friends basically forced the animation team to work on it. So my personal theory is that they keep it under wraps to protect him.
The only one pushing for Sausage Party was Amid and it was obvious he was getting paid to do so because he was consistently the author of every article involving Sausage Party. When the whole "animator abuse" thing broke out on CB's comment section of all fricking places, he made a single article about it and then fricked off and never mentioned Sausage Party again. It was obvious he put all his eggs in the wrong basket and accidentally missed out on one of the best exclusive stories CB could've had in years.
But I'm fine with that because Amid is fricking moronic.
The one thing I remember.
You guys have pretty nice sausages.
