Lin-Manuel Miranda was for a time considered a God after Hamilton so since he was involved Enc**to got better press. Funny thing is basically all the songs sucked.
Lin-Manuel Miranda has always been a hack. His songs are shit and he only has one beat. And his arythmic lyrics are pure cringe. All of the girls and gays in my school were way into In the Heights. He sucked then and he sucks now.

Encanto was way better animated. It was basically frozen but brown people. Wish looks like a Netflix CGI tv series.

Compare those two shots and you tell me why Encanto did better. Wish looks like frickin Star Wars Rebels and the whole thing is a dull blue basically on a flat desert. Encanto is a beautiful colorful movie with higher fidelity and actual shit to fill the screen

Each disney film does worse than the last because box offices office is getting very fickle and the brand is hurting. Disney is thus a brand you can just ignore.
It is pure chick flick nonsense which I am not even against just baffled it cost 200 million. Niche films should cost a fraction of that.
I don't know Encanto but unfortunately saw Wish and it's pretty fricking bad.

The main character doesn't even have a character arc, she doesn't learn shit and gets everything handed to her. The first thing she does when she gets close to the wish granting wizard king is to ask him for nepotism wish granting and when that doesn't work out has her dramatic song where a star descends from the heaven which she also immediately begs to grant wishes for her family, which is even played with a "haha, I don't mean in selfish way" joke, as the story pretends you are supposed to root for her as she becomes one of the those greedy thieves that the king build the kingdom to protect people from because those kind of people destroyed everything he held dear once before. And the movie has no fricking self-awareness about this.

That is almost a mandate with feminist writing. They think women are perfect, ergo they do not need to learn. In fact many plots amount to everyone else having to learn that women are perfect and getting out of their way. They also do not want to see a woman struggle as that implies theu are weak or imperfect.

Encanto has better songs and more color. It also doesn't try to tell you the MC is the real pretty one. Whatever you think of Miranda, he's a better Disney song writer than the ghost writers for Beiber and Lady Gaga they got for wish.

Encanto is pretty good. It’s set in fictional Columbia so the random white/black/brown characters make some sense. The songs are good. It’s more of a family story than defeat some villain. Overall not bad.
