on its own its a fantastic cinematic achievement and an absolutely beautiful movie. i mean everything down to the film, to the FX to the soundtrack are done to the utmost quality but unfortunately the context, which is the potential energy it had, was its downfall. it played it too safe on the narrative and the casting
On its own it's absolute shit. The lowest kind of big budget shlock like Transformers. But it's even worse when you take into account that it's a pozzed feminist globhomosexual shitfest. The visuals are ultra generic with tons of unipressive CGI. There's not a single scene in the entire sequels that makes you wonder how they shot it or was simply impressive and innovative. Absolute generic action sequences. Nobody fricking remembers a single thing about the Starkiller base assault.
its actually much better quality than transformers and if you can't see that you are moronic. you go do some of that CGI work and then talk to me about impressive. does making you wonder how they shot something make it good? you can be impressed and still plausibly deduce what methods they may have taken to shoot a particular scene. I'll also heavily disagree on the generic action sequences, especially considering the crossbow scenes, the extended fighter pilot killstreaks, and the fight in the snow at the end. you tell me what makes a fight scene not generic. and you also remembered that the starkiller base assault happens, so thats at least one thing you have remembered about it
>That's what all of Star Wars feels like
Yeah because it's a terrible franchise, it only has two good movies and The Force Awakens just tries to copy one of them (poorly)
Mediocre design by committee slop for "fans" who don't realise what they actually want is to feel 10 years old again and not more star wars.
It's the follow ups that are unforgivably awful.
>inspired >exact same plot >only difference is that Obi Wan is replaced with Han Solo and that Luke is now a woman who is perfect at everything the first time and everyone loves her
Ruined star wars for me. Saw it in theaters and after asking others with who saw it and thought it was good convinced me this franchise was going in the shitter.
I just marathoned all three for the first time and don't understand the hate for The Last Jedi, is it literally just "no no no you can't do this to my heckin' beloved Luke Skywalker??"
It definitely has some shit moments like the entire casino sequence but it's the only one of the sequel movies to show some creative initiative, instead of the other two that just try to ride off the story of the original trilogy
>trooper defects because he saw a comrade die in front of him, then the very next day, possibly even sooner, starts gunning down his comrades while whooping
What I meant was that they're not "bad" if you accept that the franchise is supposed to be stupid shit for little kids outside of the first two movies which are genuinely good, but the rest are terrible.
"Who Framed Roger Rabbit" is also a kids movie on top of being a legit good film everyone likes.
Being a movie for kids shouldn't be an excuse for lazyness.
When will the contrarians just give up and admit it was a better movie than any of the prequels and a serviceable first installment to the sequels before Rian dropped the ball?
Just try to rewath it, you absolute Black person. I remmeber a disney shill saying he tried to rewatch it but had to shut it down because all he saw what was people were angry about. It's not even a movie it's a thing, a bad thing. The acting alone is atrocious. It's no suprirse Daisy and Boyega can't find an acting job.
It was mediocre, not good by any stretch, but not terrible. The Rise of Skywalker though was horrific, it was shocking they even pretended that was a movie when it was just an ADHD fever dream of cobbled together plot ideas they wanted to get through.
In isolation this movie is okay. I'd probably enjoy it quite a bit if this was the only Star Wars movie that ever existed. But in the context of the prequels and OT existing, its bad.
Insane amount of missed potential. Instead of exploring what would realistically happen after ROTJ, they simply redo ANH... but bigger and with more expensive cameras! Instead of focussing on things like Luke rebuilding the Jedi Order with his new knowledge and Leia rebuilding a new galactic government and struggling with finding a balance between authoritarianism and liberty (eg have her ponder how to properly deal with Empire remnants), we get Luke 2.0, Empire 2.0 and Rebellion 2.0.
It also leaves a lot of unanswered questions >Where the frick did the First order come from? Where was the new Republic while the First Order was building the new Death Star (but better). >Why does a 'rebellion' have to take responsibility to fight Empire 2.0? Especially if Empire 2.0 is not the ruling government in the galaxy? The First Order is treated as the ruling regime of the galaxy, while in fact it should be an insurrection similar to what the rebels were in OT.
I don't get the whole premise of "we need Luke to save us!" either, what the frick is he supposed to do? TLJ was basically forced to treat Luke the way it did because of course he's not some god that can evaporate the First Order
>new hope with Black folk, homosexuals and roasties in protagonist roles
a lazy 'le subvert your expectations' attempt to present something new, while not being new at all, just woke
It is Though
>it is though
You know it is Though
Non response. Frick off you idiot.

>especially considering the crossbow scenes
You mean Chewbacca's gun? Isn't it just "woah this blaster is EXTRA powerful!!1"?
>on its own its a fantastic cinematic achievement
Do you really think so? I feel like nothing happens and it's just a set up for the next movie
A good and competent Star Wars movie after 4 disasters in a row is an achievement
>good and competent Star Wars movie
But it isn't, it feels like a filler tv show episode or a pilot episode stretched out to two hours
That's what all of Star Wars feels like to you zoomies, this was clearly the highest quality one yet
>That's what all of Star Wars feels like
Yeah because it's a terrible franchise, it only has two good movies and The Force Awakens just tries to copy one of them (poorly)
That's JJ Abrams in general. The plot of MI3 stops in the middle of the movie and then it's literally just Tom Cruise running.
Yeah I can't believe he has a career, his movies are consistently awful. Normies love his actionbloat shit though
>french poster
>pretend
>Mfw rewatching this last week
>Got up to hang solo and those aliens escaping in the junker ship before turning it off
It's pretty bad but not the worst
Mediocre design by committee slop for "fans" who don't realise what they actually want is to feel 10 years old again and not more star wars.
It's the follow ups that are unforgivably awful.
It's mediocre and utterly uninspired. The sequel to it is bad.
It's not the worst one technically but it's for sure the most misguided and hurtful for the franchise.
Only a few hateful homosexuals do. It was everything a Star Wars movie should be. Too bad they couldn't follow it up with better movies.
Everyone hates you and you should stop posting.
I don't get it.
It's better than the prequels
its blatant copy of ep4
It's inspired by episode 4. But it is its own movie. And it sets up great characters and great mysteries that the sequels failed to deliver on
It follows the plot of Star Wars beat for beat. It's just the same story with a new coat of paint and far worse characters and set pieces.
>inspired
>exact same plot
>only difference is that Obi Wan is replaced with Han Solo and that Luke is now a woman who is perfect at everything the first time and everyone loves her
It's okay. You can still grow
Ruined star wars for me. Saw it in theaters and after asking others with who saw it and thought it was good convinced me this franchise was going in the shitter.
SW is the og version of the OT.
The rest is contrarianism
It’s the least bad out of the sequel trilogy, but that’s not saying much.
It's one of the best Star Wars movies and again, that's not saying much
its literally just IV reskinned, like a remake of a classic videogame, only its sold as a completely different installment in the series
On its own its a good movie, but it just missed out on so many opportunities
i dont get why people act like the last jedi triggered the downfall of star wars when this piece of shit exists
at least the last jedi has decent visuals, this was just boring
I just marathoned all three for the first time and don't understand the hate for The Last Jedi, is it literally just "no no no you can't do this to my heckin' beloved Luke Skywalker??"
It definitely has some shit moments like the entire casino sequence but it's the only one of the sequel movies to show some creative initiative, instead of the other two that just try to ride off the story of the original trilogy
BB8 was cute
i liked it alot
TFA was soulless garbage
Safe rehash of ANH followed by two turds. No thank you.
>trooper defects because he saw a comrade die in front of him, then the very next day, possibly even sooner, starts gunning down his comrades while whooping
tbf I think it was mainly because they gunned down innocents, but I agree the whooping is moronic
The sequels aren't bad. Star Wars is meant for little kids and has always been pretty bad outside of the first two movies in the first place.
all the shitty contrarian takes one could make in a single post
well done
The one about Star Wars being shit outside the first two movies is correct though
>The sequels aren't bad
the post was discredited right there
What I meant was that they're not "bad" if you accept that the franchise is supposed to be stupid shit for little kids outside of the first two movies which are genuinely good, but the rest are terrible.
yeah, like I said, you're moronic
"It's meant for kids!" is not an excuse at all, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to make a compelling kids movie
"Who Framed Roger Rabbit" is also a kids movie on top of being a legit good film everyone likes.
Being a movie for kids shouldn't be an excuse for lazyness.
Wordt Star Wars film, completely soulless
The film itself isn't bad but it represents everything wrong with Disney Wars and modern Hollywood in general.
It's crazy how something like TROS which is barely a movie is better than the prequels
the prequels invested heavily in meme content, tros is just bad
JJ Abrams remakes old shit but not as good. It's the same thing he did with "Star Trek: Into Darkness."
It might not be bad but I couldn't sit through it. It was too boring.
I can deal with the woman warrior meme if it's fantasy or scifi but when they try to insert it into real history it's super cringe.
“Pretend”, kys.
In isolation this movie is okay. I'd probably enjoy it quite a bit if this was the only Star Wars movie that ever existed. But in the context of the prequels and OT existing, its bad.

It's literally just A New Hope all over again, except worse in every single way possible.
>new hope with Black folk, homosexuals and roasties in protagonist roles
a lazy 'le subvert your expectations' attempt to present something new, while not being new at all, just woke
How does it subvert expectations? It's literally a clone of A New Hope and doesn't pretend otherwise
