Unironically yes. It’s his best miniseries, and I live Hill House.
*love
Not bad by any means but heads up, this is a MIDNIGHT MASS board
I won’t watch shit with a stupid name. Fall of the house of the spark that burns the empire
>netflix
can anyone explain why Frederick, Tamerlane and Victorine went batshit in their episodes?
Frederick in particular seemed pretty reasonable up until he decided to torture his dead wife
If they all went crazy I would've been okay with it but Camille and Prospero seemed fine up until the last minute
Also
Midnight Mass > Hill House > Usher > Bly
Haven't watched Midnight Club and hear it's awful
Usher had a lot of potential but it drags on for 2 episodes too long and there is nobody to root for at all. Everyone is just a c**t from beginning to end.

Thank you so much for putting it into words. That's exactly my problem with this show and I couldn't figure out a way to explain it.
I can almost say that even though midnight club is the weakest it’s still worth a watch but the fact that netflix killed it off prematurely means it’s not really worth the time.
>ranking Midnight Mass the highest
>while complaining Usher drags on for too long
Anon... literally NOTHING of relevance happens in Midnight Mass until what, the last 1.5 episodes.
The drama soapbox monologue to horror ratio is also loathsome, at least Usher has it balanced.
If you want your show to be 80-90% character/dialogue focused then you need characters that you actually enjoy watching on screen. You don't need to like them but they need to be entertaining. Most of the characters in Usher I could not wait to see them die. I think out of the massive cast I only really enjoyed watching Pym, young Roderick, and Camille. Sometimes old Roderick but his schtick got kinda tired by the end.
>i need the show to tell me how to feel
Midnight Mass is shit besides Hamish's performance.
Too much coke + latent psychosis.
Basically what
said.
Independent of any bargains with Death, they're all descended from the same mother.
Further fricked up by their father.
Also also the way integrated Madeline's AI technology subplot into a twist at the end was jaw droppingly dumb. I was wondering where that was going and I expected it to be stupid and I was right. Though to be fair, I was expecting the house sections to be Roderick being tortured for eternity in some kind of AI conscious hell ala SOMA so it wasn't as bad as it could've been
That was just Verna fricking them up, considering she orchestrated the deaths of them all akin to Final Destination.
Probably also why the acid bath cheating wife survived compared to all the other melted bodies, Verna, because it could be used to bring Frederick into madness.
I think Frederick was always crazy, he just hid it well until his jealous thoughts warped him.
>Haven't watched Midnight Club and hear it's awful
It's not bad, granted I haven't seen all of it, just 5 or 6 episodes. It has a good setting and a good premise.
The source material was written for a YA audience, and there's a lot of egregious jumpscares, but aside from those things it's good.
Imo it only feels too long because Frederick and Tamerlane's respective episodes were weak. If their episodes had as shocking violent twists as the earlier episodes it would've been better.
>netflix killed it off prematurely
What do you mean by this?
I was totally expecting some kind of cyborg flesh abominations. I mean the machinery had no precedent, but I was expecting Madeline to be performing some experiments in hopes of granting the entire family immortality to try and cheat Verna (Carla Gugino). Come to think of it, I bet you this was something Mike Flanagan originally toyed with. The spectres not actually being ghosts, but Madeline's failed experiments. But it would have required her to be recovering the bodies of the other Ushers.
I was thinking the cheating wife survived because she wasn't actually biologically an Usher so not part of the curse.
But then all those people in the club died.
some sort of quantum frickery would be interesting, where verna is actually a result of madeline fricking with the timeline to cheat death.
Also the kid should have lived alongside the cheating wife with the obvious implication being she's not Freds.
I thought that was exactly where the kids story was ending up. Or that she would make her own altruistic deal of some sort
>What do you mean by this?
It was supposed to be more than one season.
>we have mike ehrmantraut at home
Pretty good but a little too long, the twists/reveals were extremely predictable, and there is a lot of cringy dialogue. Also every character but Roderick was underwritten as a result of the meme “one episode per character” format which is shit.
Couldn't make it past the second episode
Midnight Mass is still his magnum opus
I looked into it, and it just looked like a load of blacks.
They all die first in horrible ways btw. They're even called "the bastards". Take that as you will.
I like Rahul... 🙁
I think he's especially good in Bly

WE NOW RESUME YOUR CURRENT TELEVISED PROGRAMMING.
The Crow was always a metaphor for Edgar Allan Poe's bisexuality
young Madeline reminded me of a girl i used to date, which made me sad. (. _.)
She was genuinely beautiful. I couldn’t take my eyes off her when she was on screen
Should’ve gotten the actress who played Nelly/main Bly manor girl/Love in (You) to be Roderick’s first wife. Then I could’ve just gooned during every flashback
I enjoyed the frick out of this show. I don't think I ever got bored and started browsing my phone like I usually do with shows. My only complaint is a bit too many corny speeches and poetry
Carried hard by Verna and Roderic but very enjoyable. Im glad Mads died bad because she was the worst of them all.
Less Black folk and browns next time please Mr Flanagan!
