Normalgays that refuse to watch his movies. He was basically Shang Chi before Shang Chi.

With all the rumors, it sounds like his next movie is going to be pivotal for the Kang stuff. So it's probably going to be required watching for anyone who cares about the next Thanos-level plot?

He stole the show in civil war too but he was more of a cool set piece there. The real problem was that his second movie was an extremely low-stakes sequel that existed between two event movies.

            Anonymous

Personally I think Ant Man worked so well because it was low stakes. I will agree that having to fit between events messed with things.

Watched Civil War first and thought his whole deal was just comic relief, but in his own movies, he's surprisingly fleshed out and competent. How could they do him like that?

That's the problem with the big ensemble movies. Not enough time to give everyone development even though everyone may be fleshed out in their solo movies. Peter Quill got shat on pretty hard in infinity war and endgame for example.

              >Peter Quill got shat on pretty hard in infinity war and endgame for example.
I'd say the same about Nebula, they made her moronic.

I'm pleasantly surprised that Thor Love and Thunder did justice to Star-Lord, he was far better done and Nebula to a lesser extent but she felt in character.

Never thought of it this way, but I kind of agree. I was pleasantly surprised with Shang Chi but too bad Simu is a complete c**t, whereas Rudd is likeable on and off screen.

Because they did it respectfully. Having Hank be a grumpy old man that came in and immediately shat all over the Starks was so in character that it had me grinning from ear to ear.

The only bad part is that Hank didn't make Ultron in the MCU but Douglas is really good and I could see him playing a great Hank in his prime.

      >I can't remember a single thing about Ant Man 2
The plot for Ant-Man and the Wasp was pretty forgettable (partly because it was a tiny bit over-complicated for the stakes), but it had a few sizey set pieces that are unique enough compared to the rest of the MCU that a few particular moments have stuck in my memory. That's better than most of the MCU films.

      >or what he did in Endgame.
He didn't really do a whole lot compared to the "main" Avengers (given that it was their movie), but he was a prominent and beloved side character for most of it. He kick-started the whole thing, and brought the time-travel idea to the group (along with the required Pym particles).

      Anonymous

In Ant-Man 2 he saves the day since he got mental link with Janet, tricked the FBI and got trapped into the Quantum Realm.

In Endgame he was quite literally one of the MVPs since the movie doesn't happen without him, came up with the plan of the time heist, gave everyone Pym Particles, becomes Hulk's bro, called out Tony Stark, saves War Machine and Rocket from dying, and he punched the shit out of a space whale.

Ant Man is one of the most kino members of the entire MCU.

      >Plucky guy down on his luck stumbles upon an incredibly powerful piece of technology
      >Solos Falcon, a trained Army member and current Avenger
      >Fights the Avengers and probably could have beaten the frick out of all of them if it wasn't for Peter Parker pulling a Star Wars on him
      >rescues his love interest's lost mother
      >comes to the Avengers with a silly plan that actually could work
      >roasts Tony Stark
      Non Canonically can Solo Ultron
      >also revealed that the Thanos Butthole attack was totally on his mind too
      >Actor is charismatic as hell and a really cool guy IRL

      No one can beat ANTS

First one is solid and Rudd carries it. It also had the wow-factor of de-aging Douglas at the time, although that's pretty standard CGI now. Second one is not only forgettable on its face but is also irrelevant to the entirety of the MCU except to explain why Scott's in the quantum realm at the start of Infinity War, which is an important place to be, but the story of how he got there is entirely unnecessary.

  20. 2 years ago

Scott literally had one of the best scenes in the entire franchise when he comes back from the Quantum Realm, walks around, and meets up with his daughter. Literally the one and only time I had tears in my eyes while watching a fricking MCU movie. Definitely one of the top 2 MCU characters and I say this as someone who hates the comedy the MCU has

Pym Particles are unironically the strongest capeshit force out there

    >Too far? Shrink the space between them
