yes definitely
1. you can't do the "pedophile elites" plotline because it's now associated with right wingers conspiracy theories
2. two white male leads
3. actual good vs evil, yes Rust is a gray character but he's not morally gray, he is on the side of good, in a new one he would have been the murderer
I'm not American, so I thought Louisiana was just New Orleans + swamps
seeing the poor people living in small wood houses out in the swamps with meth labs and religious fundamentalists driving around was a great mood for the show
I went to Lousiana to meet up with a cajun girl and when we were driving her grandma to a famly get-together she kept pointing out all the swampy bits where people dump dead bodies.

also they made rural Louisiana look scary as hell
>Like rural Louisiana isn't in fact, scary as hell.
driving from texas to florida is hell because there is literally nowhere to stop along the way that isnt some Black person infested hell hole where all the convenience stores dont have bulletproof windows and arent just liquor stores in everything but name with bare concrete floors
literally had some white trash methhead in a tacoma following me around my hotel and leaving and coming back last trip i took. even alerted the hotel staff about it. i think he mistook me for a dealer/buyer he was waiting for and was just trying to get my attention but who the frick knows
I did that drive last year and it was just like any interstate highway in america. Convenience stores gas stations mostly cars not a lot of people interaction. The rain was sick though kinda crazy driving through MIss sippy and Alabama in such a short span cause of their shapes.
Outside of the black parts of the south it's a very cozy place. Excellent hospitality everywhere and people always greet each other when no one else is around
They are both kino, true. Still, TD differs from those shows because of the tone it sets. The show wasn't afraid to show just how vile and disgusting the elite really is. It puts two detectives against that kind of evil and despite their respective flaws, they managed to finish what they started.
Did they really finish anything though? They killed ledoux and lawnmower man, but all the elites still got away with it. Same with season 2 and the human trafficking, the elites got away in the end with velocoro dead in the woods and bezzaridessesdesdrssdedsfsdes back on a desk job or whatever the hell happened to her
I guess it all depends on how you look at it anon. That's why the "light versus dark" dialogue at the end is so fitting.
On a different note, is season 2 worth watching?
I watched Season 2 for the second time recently and it's amazing how good it is on rewatch. It's a very well done classic California pulpy-noir type detective story with some really good writing. Season 2 honestly might be the most rewatchable, though I still think season 1 is ultimately better. Season 3 is solid and has the best ending but is kind of sparse and dull compared to the first two seasons, but Mahershala Ali gives a really good perfomance.
Season 3 is just as good but lots of people here seem to hate it because it doesn't have le epic final boss ending
Yeah, season 3 is pretty solid, both Dorph and Ali give good performances. Episode 7 (If I'm not mistaken) has this really cool shot that was fitting to Ali's character.
I feel bad for never giving season 2 a chance, I've already downloaded it, will definitely watch it.

>Yeah, season 3 is pretty solid
it's atrocious
stopped after 3 episodes
pizzaman lost his mojo, he needs to take more time to develop his scripts and thats fricking obvious
the director on s1 definitely carried him a lot as well and his absence is notable
Both 2 and 3 are worthwhile. 2 won't scratch the itch for S1 but the main cop and Vince Vaughn are great and it's another kinda hopeless conspiracy situation. 3 is underrated and works as a better sequel to 1 but the ending lacks catharsis
i thought it was generic shitty cop drama and over rated shit till i actually watched it
shit, i dont think theres another crime drama that comes close to how good it was. maybe justified or the shield idk
rust is the most reddit character of all time, if you thought his le edgy mopey whiny rants and convenient asspull superhero shit was good writing then you need to go back
Haven't watched it in several years I actually put it on download inspired by this thread. My gut feeling from what I remember is it doesn't surpass the all time greats
>s2 is better becuase it has a scene with 4chins in it and it make me feel validated as a human and not the useless piece of shit that i really am
frick off and die
Watch it again when you're a bit older and it falls apart after the first 4 episodes. Still good but the quality just plummets, like they didnt know wtf they were doing after the halfway point.
They're psychotic doing 2 women and one a no name.

marsala ali is a fantastic actor
to bad the script fricking blows and even stepen dorf and his pure charisma are fricking wasted
you tasteless sack of homosexual dweeb shit

anon.... that's literally how it is
it's scary as hell
Inner cities or ghettos are much scarier
I went to Lousiana to meet up with a cajun girl and when we were driving her grandma to a famly get-together she kept pointing out all the swampy bits where people dump dead bodies.
Sounds wholesome
did you get some cajun tang?
>cajun tang
sloppy, spicy, and fishy?

Louisiana is scary as hell but not bc of White church goers or coonasses. It's scary bc of coons.

>you dont mow another mans lawn
what did he mean by this
>I'm just here to frick your wife's ass marty
mow her grass = frick her ass
Twin Peaks The Return happened a few years later. Still a great show.

Yes, don't let homosexual youtube video essayists or redditors tell you otherwise

Fargo season 1 is better.

Tw return lacked soul and comfiness

Don't be sad it's over.
Be happy that it happened.
It's great, but it really peaks after like episode 4 I think it was
God I have to rewatch it.

Cinemaphile is a season 2 board, they even gave us a shoutout in the show
Oh shit, I've only seen some Vinceposting threads, with the china man and the dead dog, but I guess I gotta watch it now. Thanks anons.
it's crazy how flawed it is and yet there's not much competition. tv is shit
Season 3 is just as good but lots of people here seem to hate it because it doesn't have le epic final boss ending

S4 will be garbage
True detective but fargo! Also dyke leads who needs male leads anymore!

Ive watched S1 probably 6-7 times.
Ive watched S2 3 times
I could barely finish S3 and have no plans of ever rewatching it.
S4 better be good.
