Seriously, the show just disappeared the NCR, which is probably the coolest faction ever made, with a couple of stupid, moronic lines? Nah, frick that noise. They can't destroy established lore with a few clicks.

The NCR has never been the good guys
In 1 they didn’t even exist yet
In 2 they’re doing unethical shady shit to try and expand
In NV they’re a bunch of corrupted short-sighted expansionists that the people they take over dislike

              >NCR
              >Bad guys
Pick one. They're the last and only hope for a civilized Wasteland, and the dilemmas posed by its existence make the lore a far more interesting place. The show deciding "LOL nope it doesn't exist anymore" is not only moronic, but it's wrong. Despite what

              yes they can

might think, the writers don't get to ruin literal YEARS of discussion about the NCR.

First, Todd and people who worked on the show said the NCR is still around and we only saw a small part of the world, a very specific part that allowed them to tell the post-apocalyptic story they wanted to. That doesn’t mean the rest of California is gone and destroyed for no reason. Also, Shady Sands wasn’t even the capital anymore when it was bombed, so if you care about lore then you should get your facts straight so you don’t sound like a butthurt new vegan.

Second, the NCR sucks. Corrupt expansionist tyrants forcing themselves on the wasteland. New Vegas set up their collapse and a civil war would’ve been inevitable. They’re spread too thin and too many people dislike being ruled by them. The Legion also would fall into civil war.

but in the fricking show they say Shady Sands was a civilized paradise that got destroyed because Vault Tec were supposed to bring civilization back after the surface was completely destroyed. If anything the NCR are the good guys in the show. They said the fall of Shady Sands is not the bomb and that New Vegas is still canon, which I honestly find hard to believe it was their first intention but it would also be extremely weird to put those years there when the timeline is so clear just to frick around with new vegas

It is. That doesn't equate to the NCR being perfect (though it is compared to any other alternative) but the NCR has always been the most unique idea in Fallout. Post-apocalypse is so played out and tired, almost nobody ever explores what it looks like when people pick up the pieces and start building nations again. I don't give a frick about generic mad max raiders, I want to hear more about the NCR's sharecrop infrastructure and the problems with the brahmin barons. Anyways thats gone now because Bethesda's needs to make everything they get their hands to be about vaults and the brotherhood of steel.

We got told by Maximus, a terribly stupid person with no knowledge of the outside world, that it (shady sands) failed. If you take everything characters say as truth, that’s media illiteracy, and that’s your problem. The NCR remnants still around are there because it was their home. The greater NCR has obviously pulled back from that area. They were already spread thin so why waste manpower on a nuked settlement when they have other problems in the North and East? The only fact is that we don’t know what’s happening with the greater NCR, we’ve just been told that they’re actually still around and we haven’t seen the last of them. Whether they devolved into civil war or their holdings rebelled against them, or if they’re doing perfectly fine, is yet to be seen.

You misread. They wanted to create an area where they can tell that kind of story. They moved the NCR capital out of Shady Sands, as evidenced by the billboard, nuked it, then had the NCR pull out and leave the shithole that is LA to its own devices. They didn’t say they were testing the entire west coast. They literally say in that’s some interview that there is more to the story of the NCR and that they’re still around.

All this outrage stems from being unable to think beyond the screen logically. And from media illiteracy.

they had an interview released earlier today where they confirmed they plan to erase civilization from the west coast. their explanation is that Fallout is apparently meant to be about endless war and destruction with any attempts at rebuilding being short lived and pointless

is that why New Vegas is also destroyed, because they totally want to involve factions and parts from the game? or because they just want a blank slate to write their own shit "go find X family member while brotherhood fights the enclave" but filming outside of California is expensive so they just erased all existing Fallout lore that takes place in the region

Bethesda wants Fallout to be stuck in a permanent status quo where everyone acts like the bombs dropped yesterday. The NCR had become a mostly functional nation-state that controlled most of the West Coast of the USA, so it had to go if Bethesda was ever going to tell stories there again.

          Anonymous

The end game of New Vegas was the exact same thing. Avellone planned to restart the wasteland status quo, so Bethesda followed his advice.

Avellone is a moron and didn't contibute anything good to New Vegas, and most New Vegas slides show that the Mojave is changing no matter who wins.

the legion is absolutely not going to be in the show at all. NCR is the only trace of west coast Fallout factions that still survived in the show (because it would be impossible to explain the show set there without showing what happened to them). and all remaining NCR members are killed in the end with the brotherhood.
