T2 has better action scenes. Dare I say Sarah Connor has a better character arc in T2 than Ripley does in Aliens.

Except Linda Hamilton pulled it off, she had shed all her fat and turned into a lean mean killing machine. So even if we don't see it, we still believe it. Weaver just looks a bit older.

Nonsense. Weaver and Hamilton are about equally well cast, so we move to the next character. Arnold was great in T2, sure, but the rest of the cast? Furlong was shit, the redhead kid was shit, the step parents were ironically shit since one of them was also an Aliens marine. The marines and Bishop were way better.
Even the cast of villains, the Aliens are better. The T-1000 was a great and scary idea, but not when he's fighting the T-800. His ability is stabbing implements against another Terminator we've established has to be killed by plasma weaponry or hydro presses and the like. Every time they fought it was a stalemate. Meanwhile, every time the Aliens show up Marines die.
Aliens has Bill Paxton so it wins in that department by default.

T2 is an R-Rated kids movie that just doesn't have any heart.
Aliens is a badly written movie. Not only is every character an idiot but they're also one-dimensional cartoons. It almost feels like a parody
both worst iterations of their franchise because they completely rehash the first film while ignoring all the parts that made them great in favor of action set pieces and cliches that are now carried on in every repetitive sequel. they effectively killed the franchises while devaluing the first film.
T-2 especially is a beat-for-beat remake of Terminator with the Dyson subplot that was cut from the original script shoved into the middle of it awkwardly. except all the stuff that made Termimator cool and gritty was replaced with cereal-box saturday morning cartoon crap for kids.
it was even a meme in the newspapers at the time that Grandmas were taking their 8-12 year old grandsons to see T2 in the theater, despite being an R rated movie.
Both of these are just more normie-friendly versions of their superior previous movies, which is why they are often used as examples of sequels that are better than the original.

I like Aliens and T2 but they're worse than their respective prequels. Aliens turning the Xenomorphs into ants to be disposed of so easily was fricking stupid. T2 having all the quips and Arnold killing zero people was fricking stupid.
