Yup. Frasier was an ensemble show at it's core. Kelsey Grammer is a funny guy but the Frasier Crane character is a straight man that needs someone to play off of. Both the Cheers and Frasier casts were fantastic and it's hard to imagine this revival would have the same strength.
>Kelsey Grammer is a funny guy but the Frasier Crane character is a straight man that needs someone to play off of.
I don't think you know what the word "straight man" means. Frasier and Niles were both the comedic characters in the show. They're basically caricatures of pompous wealthy sophisticated people. Martin was the straight man who gave humorous juxtapositon, while also keeping Niles and Frasier grounded, because without him they'd both disappear up their own asses in pure pretention.

it's over
it made no sense, it looked like total uninspired sitcom. >be frasier finally return to Boston where it all began. >don't go hang with your old buddies sam and co at cheers, instead hang with randoms and do stupid sitcom shit.
Actually, it's a pretty good point. Frasier spent like 10 Seasons living in Boston, and he doesn't know how Celtics would be pronounced? It's kind of nitpicky, but come on.
To be fair, Frasier is a snobby, prissy, highly educated guy who likes the opera and theater. He doesn't care about sports, let alone know anything about them. Aside from one episode of Cheers where he gets dragged to a hocky game and enjoys it, he's never show giving a shit about sports to any capacity. Especially in the show Frasier, he is constantly at odds with his dad for loving sports when he doesn't. Niles and Frasier both viewed it as a chore anytime they'd get dragged to a game with Martin. Is it any wonder he wouldn't know or care enough bout the Celtics to know how their name is pronounced?
24: Live Another Day was pretty good, and the revival of Red Dwarf was about as good as it was when it got cancelled (i.e. only okay, and nowhere near as good as it was at its peak). I wouldn't be surprised if that's the exhaustive list.
I never watched Frasier and won't be watching this show. But this review is trash, it's just a bunch of Mauler-tier nitpicks and "uhm ackchually" gotchas.
They weren’t the only worthwhile characters, but the show needed characters like that who were more grounded and blue collar to balance the show. It doesn’t have that anymore, instead of a charming show about a contrasts between working stiffs and academics, between high culture and low brow, and sons and their father trying to get along and support each other in spite of those differences, it’s now a show about Northeast smug clashing with Northwest smug and a son actively finding excuses to cut his mopey depressed out-of-touch father out of his life.
people always b***h about every TV show ever, unfunny blah blah blah
But you have to admit the cold open with Niles preparing for a date that ends up with him passed out, the couch on fire and Eddie eating the dinner was hilarious.

Frasier was always shitty. Its for intelectuals what big bang theory is for nerds: a charicature aimed at normies.
The best parts of it were niles and his dad and both arent in this
I mean, who thought it was gonna be good? None of the side characters are on it, and they were about 85% of the humor.
I thought it was going to be good
You silly dumb ape.
You could have said that about Frasier after Cheers.

so just like the original then?
The writer of that article thinks Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds are great. Just bear that in mind.
Lower Decks is the best nu trek we've gotten in 20 years though. BNW can piss up a rope
>this is the best piss outta my dick in 20 years
It’s garbage.
>though
Clock. Stopped. Twice a day.
Frasier was always an unfunny, uninspired dud.
i'm an unfunny, uninspired chud
lel
Every sitcom is. People watch it because the 90s look more pleasant
You said the same about the 1980 Chateau Graud Larose. You are wrong again.
Boomers dont stream shit and 20 year olds dont wanna watch a 85 year old republican shit out 30 year old jokes, the FRICK did they expect
>By Alan ~~*Sepinwall*~~
He started crying because he didn't like the Celtics joke:

> I mean, what are we to believe, that this is a magic xylophone, or something? Ha ha, boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder!

Fine, fair enough. That aside, I thought his other complaints about the show seemed in-depth and well thought out, so we shall see.
People can easily go their entire lives without knowing anything beyond merest surface details about sports.
he basically lived in a bar run by a notable figure in the sports world where the TV was on constantly
he even met Kevin McHale
who
>not knowing every great hwite basketball player
Ishygddt

Yikes
Frick off, anon. Sepinwall is our guy. The man helped to pioneer television criticism as we know it.
His episode write-ups for The Wire and Mad Men were based. He knows what he's talking about.
don't care
still gonna watch it
how has his hairline not changed at all in 30 years, I thought he went completely bald ages ago.
Has any revival ever been good? Or even like close to a bad episode of the original show?
24: Live Another Day was pretty good, and the revival of Red Dwarf was about as good as it was when it got cancelled (i.e. only okay, and nowhere near as good as it was at its peak). I wouldn't be surprised if that's the exhaustive list.
He-man Revelation was pretty hecking good.
Seems like it got a lot of hate from fans.
Well yeah if you liked He-man then I can see it but need I remind yall that this is the kind of loser that threw shade and hated on Revelation:
go back
No
>Has any revival ever been good?
twin peaks the return
Twin Peaks
Gilmore Girls.
Don't @ me.
Might be cheating, but Hollywood Squares with Whoopi and Gilbert Gottfried was on par with the Paul Lynde version.
Beavis and Butthead have two good revivals. But they're timeless and Judge has an actual brain in his head.
Should've been an animated show
When I clicked on that video the other day, I thought I was going to get some Kino Frasier animations.
I never watched Frasier and won't be watching this show. But this review is trash, it's just a bunch of Mauler-tier nitpicks and "uhm ackchually" gotchas.
>another AIslop thread
you really have no more imagination lmao
Sounds like it stays true to the original.
>Still a single loser
>Not married to Lilith despite Cheers showing it
>No Niles
What is even the point
Get this guy's cousin on as a guest star.
I love this story
The world would be a better place with more eccentric autists
We out here anon.
Straight up improvement
>Hyperbolic time chamber training [MAXIMUM FRASIER]
I wish that was real
Cringe is codeword for offensive to these gay journos
Most of the reviews have been positive
The show literally has Black and modern liberal white son. It's over. I couldn't stand the trailer.
>no Martin, no Niles, no Roz
This. It’s not Frasier it’s ‘Boring Unfunny East Coast Millenials (with recurring guest star Frasier)
seems like american reviewers hate it, and british reviewers like it
Niles, they bombed Dukes! Dad was in there
Reiterate homosexual! Don't just pick the first one!
I didn't even know this existed but I'm glad based Kelsey got a paycheck
not watching it though
I never thought they would Spielberg and Lucas Frasier of all things! This whole world is just designed to torment us.
>t. Cam Winston
Frasier's father and his dog were the only worthwhile characters and they're both dead

That’s not fun, that’s just obnoxious and sad.
literally didnt even know this was a thing, literally not a single word about it
