why the made it part 1? who the frick wants mission impossible in parts?
the tv show failed because it was dragging over and over. movies mande more sense as each one is a separate mission. splitting mission into 2 part films is dumb
Ok, yes, what they ended up with is pretty bad. But the idea of an AI being given a misguided goal, exponentially improving itself to accomplish that goal and infiltrating everything could have been a good antagonist.
but it wasn't
I go to the movies to escape my problems not be reminded about them
just make it a rogue missile technology gone missing

kek but I get it. AI as the big bad is not really interesting. It needs to be a compelling human villain. But it being an AI let's Tom continue to be the center of attention and not potentially be overshadowed by anybody.
Posts like this immediately prove how fricking moronic and uneducated zoomers are. How you can't even spend 5 seconds googling things before spouting dumb moronic shit from your mouths.
MI was written over 2 years before chat gpt even came out. and was wrapped filming a year before chat gpt came out.
God I fricking hate you fricks.
The movie was okay, I enjoy long movies and don't mind it in parts other than the fact that I won't see them for like a year apart is always annoying.
>watch latest missionslop >Tom Cruise looks like someone left him in the oven a bit too long and he's running around and kicking and punching people like he's twenty years old >hot german chick dies for plot purposes >clown hapa just fights for a bit then dies >the rest of Hunt's crew look like they should be looking for open spots in a retirement home >main villain is discount tony almeida >the logistics of the evil rogue AI is something only a clueless boomer could come up with >every stunt or action set piece in this movie is something everyone saw 10 times before, just looks uninspired and bland
This is the same issue Indiana Jones has. Nobody wants to see someone they remember fondly getting old and the shit beat out of them.
Cruise does not look convincing anymore, he should've at this point in the franchise become a mentor to someone new and he should be just following the new main character and shadow him around jumping in to help out etc etc..
>looks like someone left him in the oven too long
I laughed, it is indeed time he retires from action roles. He still has a solid 20 years where he can now rekindle his drama chops. Its time, Tom.
They tried to bring up Jeremy Renner, but I guess it didn't work out. I seem to remember him also almost being a Jason Bourne replacement, which also didn't happen. Cruise should look for a few good dramatic roles before his face melts completely.
Cruise very obviously has a massive ego and has probably snubbed all attempts to be replaced. He owns the production company and has been in full swing career redemption for literally 10 years now. Renner, Cavill, even Pegg, Maggie Q, he's had several actors that he could've slowly handed the reins to, the guy clearly thinks he's immortal and probably won't ever. Mind you in that shitty Mummy movie they had Russell Crowe call him a "young man" but irl they're 5 years apart lol, who do you think wanted that line?
He was okay in the previous one, looked normal and so on, but between that and this movie he hit the wall. Now he looks like he's ready for a nap and just way waaaaay too derpy looking to be doing action set pieces and try to "romance" the ladies.
>and has probably snubbed all attempts to be replaced.
He doesn't need to be replaced. He just needs to share the screen with another charismatic actor to keep things interesting. But his ego won't let him. Killing off Cavil in the last one was such a huge mistake its unreal.
He needs to be replaced as the lead actor. He should take Baldwin's role and I thought that was why they killed Alec off. Hunt obviously should become the head of the IMF but the idea he's still center of the operation on the ground and everything revolves around him? Very silly at this point.
>Killing off Cavil in the last one was such a huge mistake its unreal.
fricking THIS
imagine him coming back in the new one as the ultimate bad guy hellbent on revenge
The franchise has been played out for a while now. I was going to skip the last one until they showed Henry Cavil was in it. This one had nothing so I skipped it.
I'm officially checked out of this franchise. I attempted to watch this movie and tapped out an hour in. It was just scene after scene of over the top action happening with not much substance inbetween. 30 minutes in and the opening credits start rolling for frick sakes. Then it's just one chase scene after another. I'm done. I'm out. I don't care how many real stunts Tom does, it doesn't impress me, I don't care.
>movie seemed long and drawn out >felt empty despite its long runtime >only a handful of characters, little character development >plot all over the place >bad dialogue >long quiet stretches without any background music >comedy falls flat
MI7 was weird as hell. Maybe if they had just made 1 movie instead of 2 it would've been better idk
The last one bombed and Tom is like 80 so yeah probably
I meant the other stuff...
Anyway, the old movies are repeatable I guess
What other stuff?

That's what I said. But also, the film was not very good.
I bet it could have been good if they cut out all the bullshit that's making it 2 parts. It's not a terrible premise.
>It's not a terrible premise.
its genuinely horrible

I thought it was alright, another mission impossible movie, with Hayley's huge boobs in a tight white shirt as a bonus
it needed at least 45 minutes cut
also simon pegg is exhausting and bad
I thought it was great.
Did the editor die of covid? Did no one think to say 3 hours of just action is too much
I can't imagine anyone caring enough to see part 2

try harder homosexual
I mean they'll finish it out with the last one wasn't it already in prod?

He only wants to do fun action things sorry.

Torch passing in movies doesn't work and has never worked.

Bourne Legacy is massively underrated. To me its the second best in the franchise after Identity. Never been a big fan of the shaky cam sequels.
Agreed. They should’ve leaned into Ethan being old. The movie was very dried up and wrinkly.
I enjoyed it. Looking forward to part 2.
It was definitely one of the better MI movies. I recently rewatched Ghost Protocol and was not impressed.
What kind of mush for a brain do you have if you think this was "one of the better ones"?

No.
The franchise has been played out for a while now. I was going to skip the last one until they showed Henry Cavil was in it. This one had nothing so I skipped it.
it was over after the first one. it all went downhill when De Palma stopped directing them.
Needed more ass shots of Hayley in jeans.
It was fine but second part should be better.
thanks tom
Thanks, every person on Earth.

I remember the first three movies being actual movies.
After that they essentially became just action scene showcases.

Kirby was barely in the movie and was treated as a comic relief while on Fallout, she was the big shot. It gave me whiplash watching M:I7 Part 1
It’s Tomver
Zoomers don't remember that MI2 sucked ass but they still made five more of them.
