Why isn't there a thread for STD every week? New episodes are every Thursday. All we get are shitty bait threads such as this. It's always TNG bad; DS9 bad; VOY bad.
I can tell if a show will be good or shit by the first 5 minutes of the first episode. If it takes you longer than that, you're an npc pleb with brain problems.
i have watched the original run of TNG. it didn't kill off my interest entirely but i followed it only half-heatedly in season 2 before my interest picked up in season 3
same here, I was told how great it was by my friend who kept badgering me about it, episode after episode of tedium. It just didn't pique my interest at all, felt like a chore, unlike TNG season 1 where while the quality is poor it's still interesting. DS9 just felt so unimaginative. Might give it another go because I don't think people are lying when they say it's good
Of course it's shit. It was literally stolen from another person who had carefully planned out his own scifi show, then star trek blatantly robbed him, gave him the finger, changed a few names around and called it all their own.

Currently watching TOS, about half way though session 1. Enjoying it so far. "Balance of Terror" was fricking great.

Haven't seen ent but just finished TOS about a month ago after watching the others. I mostly agree with you except I think I liked ds9 slightly more than tng. I find myself thinking about it more and wanting to rewatch it more. Will probably rewatch both and TOS some day. Doubt I'll watch Voyager again though.

Its a bit of a toss up for me.
Think peek TNG episodes are the best that Trek has to offer, but your average DS9 episode is better then your average TNG episode.
There are some stinker TNG episodes even in it's prime sessions, but it was way less common for DS9 to have as bad of episodes when they were bad.
I dunno, i reckon there are awful, unwatchable episodes in both TNG and DS9. Quark's mother was always a lowlight for me, save the Iggy Pop kidnapping episode, of course. But even those even then those were waaaay better than Janeway's Irish housemarm fanatsy, yeesh.

yep. tried to watch it twice, 2 decades apart. each time dropped after season 1
Do you judge TNG on season 1 too? I skip 95% of both TNG and DS9's first season on rewatches but I would argue TNG season 1 is worse overall

It is a shame that DS9 has the worst captain of the big 4 ST shows. The supporting cast is so great.
