if anything that would describe a 20th century action movie not a 21st century capeshit flick. capeshit is marked by the protags not having be quick on their fett or being professionals but by having special powers that they can use to get out of tight situation.
they are different (better) by nature without having to work for it.
Anon if you are trying to argue that Aliens is somehow more deep than marine shooting up aliens you are fricking wrong, it's as deep as a .0000mm puddle. It's capeshit but rated R that anon was right.
lol you're literally being filtered by gunfire and explosions.
It's literally just a bunch of annoying le action heroes blowing up Aliens with cheesy music and shitty "tense" moments. It's literally just soi shit but old
as opposed to waiting for the next shitty jumpscare in alien?
Nor does alien. People have forgot how to build up a film for the payoff.
because alien is literally one jumpscare after the next one

Anon there is nothing to think about or even discuss about Aliens thematically besides a barebones mother motif and marines shooting aliens. The movie does nothing special or interesting. Outside of the Xeno Queen.

just like alien it is about people in a sticky situation. unlike alien it has some human heart-to-heart
where aliens excels and alien fails is in that it thrusts the protagonists from predicament to predicament, keeping the viewer on their toes instead of relying on the good ol' jumpscare like alien

it's because the first film was a typical 70s slasher, set in space. even the tagine makes fun of that, with "no screaming" being the gimmick.
it's friday the 13th, halloween - it's a mute, purposeless killer that picks them off one by one for some reason, despite it being 8 feet tall and lighting fast and them being unarmed. the real reason is to stretch the time out, follow the slasher formula of only the main character surviving, female as with halloween, and drop jump scares, even with the false jump scare of the cat.
aliens eliminated the trite slasher element by having a multilayered, interesting film which was unpredictable down to the last scene.
anyone who thinks otherwise has forgotten the first time they saw it, or was so heavily exposed to the film in second hand pop culture references that they never experienced the film first hand even while watching it, because their perception was already tainted.

they're always the same dunce type, and always say the exact same things - if they aren't bots, they might as well be.
aliens was an incredible elevation and expansion, taking a simple, formulaic film and seeing the potential for world building.
they have no defense at all, and are like petty children wanting more or the same, while not having the capacity to realise that 30 identical slasher films in a row would NOT be a surprise.
it's the same ones likely bad mouthing terminator 2 because it wasn't identical to the first film. if they had their dunce way, terminator 2 would have been the exact same plot as the first film but with a different actress being chased.
they're the type to have 7 different Friday the 13th films in their top 10 films of all time. hollowed out skull syndrome levels of stupidity and blandness.
It's literally just a bunch of annoying le action heroes blowing up Aliens with cheesy music and shitty "tense" moments. It's literally just soi shit but old
this is the intellectual capacity of alien fans. ripley in aliens has no special power except the ability to grasp a situation quickly and to adapt to it. she never poses off and she has no quips being fricking traumatied by the xenomorph.
What are you talking about? Among other things the fricking alien explodes out if his chest after about half an hour. Not to mention it attacking him in the first place. And also at least according to the filmmakers, the landing was 100% supposed to he interpreted at action packed. That's how big of losers these fricking nerdlingers were.
I tried watching it again for the first time in 20 years or so a week ago. I can't stand the marines, I don't like their dialogues and want them to suffer and die. In this movie I'm actively rooting for the Aliens to take out the trash. If that was Cameron's intention, he succeeded.
I'm also having a hard time buying Ripley's transformation to a kick-ass heroine. In reality she would've been terrified at the thought of facing these creatures again after what happened in the first movie. It would've been better if the corporation forced her to accompany the group, given that Ripley's the only survivor who ever encountered that organism and knows a thing or two about it.
I dunno. It's 80s action schlock and I rate it far below movies like The Terminator or Predator.
>kick-ass heroine.
she shot like 2 or 3 aliens at close range with an automatic rifle. it's absolutely plausible that a novice could accomplish that. to the cpontrary, she was helpless against a single facehugger.
are alien fans really this moronic?
I saw alien again for the first time in 30 years yesterday and I was yawning at the needlessly slow pace, the one dimensional characters you don't even remember the names of, let alone care about, and predictable "wandering off alone down a dark corridor" routine that every film had back then. oh the dirty smelly 70s unknown actor just died off screen because they don't have budget for special effects, yawn. oh the crazed robot routine that was in every piece of scifi back then, yawn.
we have actual audio-visual evidence of scores of people finding aliens horrifying

yeah but not the way you think it is
Alien >letterboxed >high grade cinematography >scott makes the camera linger from the start of the movie >the best parts of the movie are the buildup and tension >great original score >claustrophobic >supporting cast includes creepy Ian Holm and assorted normal people who you would have a beer with >ripley undresses with bush and erect nipples
Aliens >Cameron films it 1:85:1 because he isn't a big boy auteur >supporting cast includes marines heckin epic marines >reuses shots of aliens splattering like bugs because they are shot up like bugs so often >more Aliens + more deaths = more tension >turns the Alien monster into a bug hive >YOU HAVE T MINUS 5 MINUTES repeat ending of the original

there's never been another action-horror movie like aliens so how easy can it be
alien however is just another slasher movie
>alien >in space no one can hear you scream
>aliens >Look, man. I only need to know one thing: where they are. >Go, Vasquez. Kick ass. >Anytime, anywhere, man! >Right, right. Somebody said "alien" she thought they said "illegal alien" and signed up! >Frick you, man! >Anytime, anywhere. >Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen! >That's it, man. Game over, man. Game over! What the frick are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?
It’s James Cameron’s worst film and he knows it. It’s why he made the marines a bunch of jobbers in the Avatar films, as a metaphorical frick you to his past fetishisation of the military
James Cameron is a vastly superior director. James Cameron made Titanic and Avatar. Ridley Scott made Prometheus, The House of Gucci, Robin Hood and the 16th Alien movie. His filmography is one giant pile of shit with pieces of silver in it.
Alien 3 is already the contrarians' holy grail. >hated by Weaver >hated by Scott >Cameron said he'd destroy it if he'll ever get his hands on the brand again >Fincher doesn't even consider it as a movie he made and describe it as the lowest point of his career
I like Alien 3. I'll never forget seeing it at the cinema and being shocked by how relentlessly grim it is. But yeah it's easy and convenient to switch off your suspension of disbelief and render it non-canon
Alien
+ Genuinely unsettling and mysterious extraterrestrial imagery
+ Some of the greatest production design and photography in movie history
+ Jerry Goldsmith
+ Famously and inarguably the greatest jump scare movie of all time
- It's essentially a haunted house movie in space
- Apart from Ash, Lambert and eventually Ripley the cast are largely interchangable and basically just play their jobs
Aliens
+ The prospect of being a little girl trapped on LV-426 alone with deadly body horror creatures roaming around is one of the the most terrifying situations ever suggested by movies
+ Spends almost half the movie building up tension for an incredible payoff which doesn't let up and continues to deliver and outdo itself
+ More themes and layers than the original, including a twisted comparison of surrogate maternal instinct between species, Vietnam allegory, and meta-commentary on nuclear family living
+ Absolutely convincing, plausible and relatable vision of a futuristic military
+ James Horner
- Lack of Giger's participation results in the creatures looking less exotic and otherworldy than the first movie
Both are great but I'd give it to Aliens. Cameron was just firing on all cylinders.
I actually looked up who was responsible for Alien 3, and then made a point of not watching other films he's involved in, killing off Hicks and Newt was disrespectable, Aliens 3 could was a poor copy of Riddick with RIpley thrown in.
OP, do you have any idea what you've done?!
You cant just post the most mainstream opinion here.
First is better and more atmospheric. Terminator 2 is better than aliens
>First is better and more atmospheric.
second one is more human and more subtle
>second one is more subtle
No
>more human
No, it's more Americanized pandering
what's about to happen here anon
forgot the pic
I like all 3. They're all so different.
Even Alien Resurrection is better. Alien is the best.
I really don't like Aliens. I am not even trying to bait, I just think the movie is gay. It's literally just a rated R marvel movie.
you dont really understand what capeslop is
This is literally capeshit though

Right.
Alien is paced and shot like a horror film. Aliens is on flick mode.
Show me a capeslop where everybody fricking DIES HORRIBLY because they were wrong
Please mature up anon. Aliens is a video game tier movie.
It's the best horror movie ever made and all you can do about it is get more mad
You have such an infantile appreciation of horror cinema, this is why people associate Aliensgays with Marvel.
more mad pls
Funny how you posted a bts pic that looks more "horror" that the actual scene, since the movie is neutered horror for boomers to eat popcorn to
aliengays can't escape that their beloved movie is nothing but one jumpscare after another like a shitty one-trick pony
No that anon does, Aliens tried to capesoy the franchise and most Alienfans would prefer every movie was like Aliens not Alien
You are right
this is the intellectual capacity of alien fans. ripley in aliens has no special power except the ability to grasp a situation quickly and to adapt to it. she never poses off and she has no quips being fricking traumatied by the xenomorph.
Alien is a horror film
Aliens is an action flick with horror elements, made to be a popcorn flick
The queen alien was cool. It's a shame she gets wrecked by a forklift.
Aliens theatrical cut - 10
Alien directors cut - 9
Alien theatrical cut - 8
Aliens directors cut - 7
Alien 4 - 6
Alien 3 - 5
Friday the 13th part 8 - 4
Daily reminder that the first full entire hour of Aliens theatrical cut has literally zero action
And it's worse than the first full hour of Alien or Alien3
Nor does alien. People have forgot how to build up a film for the payoff.
People haven't forgotten, onions audiences reward trash like marvel and that becomes the norm
What are you talking about? Among other things the fricking alien explodes out if his chest after about half an hour. Not to mention it attacking him in the first place. And also at least according to the filmmakers, the landing was 100% supposed to he interpreted at action packed. That's how big of losers these fricking nerdlingers were.
no movie in existence does setup and payoff better than aliens
>people dont eat propcorn while watching horror movies
>jumpscares are deep
>aliensgay doesn't know how to into tone so he immediately frames the entire movie as being "jump scare"
Reckon most people couldn't handle that today. In a mainstream film.
And it's all great. A perfect movie with perfect pacing.
it is but the most kino way to watch it is to watch alien first. they are both perfect together. much like t1 and t2 actually.
I tried watching it again for the first time in 20 years or so a week ago. I can't stand the marines, I don't like their dialogues and want them to suffer and die. In this movie I'm actively rooting for the Aliens to take out the trash. If that was Cameron's intention, he succeeded.

James "The General" Cameron pussy slayer vs. Ridley "Diddle My Bulbs" Scott just hiding out
Ridley Scott - 5'9"
James Cameron - 6'2"
The first one is better but that's only because it's much harder to make a good horror movie than it is to make a good action movie
I don’t think James Cameron could direct a horror film when he dives head first into the Marianna Trench for fun
there's never been another action-horror movie like aliens so how easy can it be
alien however is just another slasher movie
terminator 2 is the same kind of action/low grade horror schtick, only it's a better sequel
terminator 2 is a bunch of trapped people helplessly in a sticky situaton desperately trying to escape? yes except not really amirite

Cringe taste, log off
