No one would if it weren't for the fact that you can't create something original without b***hing about men or white people or engaging in a ridiculous amount of affirmative action
>M8 as fricking shit and stupid as the last few films were they still made a frickload of money.
This took place before the general public realized Disney is a raging cesspool of wokery and no talent. All of their big brands have been run into the ground. Even Star Wars. Nobody watches Star Wars anymore except us Cinemaphile die hards.
The brand is so tarnished even if they put out something good (Andor) nobody will believe it and will refuse to see it. That is how badly their brand has been run into the ground. Even the average joe normie isn't on board anymore. Same with Marvel.
I stopped buying a long time ago. "They" can keep it. If Star Wars is a moldering corpse on the side of the road with naught but shills furiously jerking off to their own headcanons of how a disjointed, lazy, corporate piece of shit is a masterpiece, c'est la vie.
>It's like the entire thing was made as a sick joke.
It was. The Lucasfilm Story Group exists only to push their own stupid shit, not anything actually Star Wars unless they can repurpose it for their rejected scripts.
I did some thinking, and I feel like I "get" it. It's assumed people will buy Star Wars because it says Star Wars, same with Marvel. So thus they take some nobodies they can hire for cheap and say "we already have the men secured. Go expand the market towards women and minorities" and so it implodes.
Yeah it felt insulting. Like they just wanted to hurt fans.
And then, TLJ, when Jonson was so high on his own farts he decided he was too "smart" for Star Wars. How someone is so dumb he can't understand the monomyth gets a billion dollars is something only Hollywood can explain.
Frick it, I'mma marathon everything Godzilla, read Campbell and Lashomb, and maybe whack off instead of watch Star Wars ever again.
> I care so much about a spaceships and light saber media franchise. So much sometimes I hurt inside.
And most sane people don't quite as much. You don't have to watch what Disney is making, but hate watching and seething about it all day isn't healthy.

i dont think there is a choice of it succeeding. everything EVERYTHING post mandalorian season 1 is doing horrible numbers. EVERYTHING disney recently has been doing horrible. i guess we can be sure it tanks financially. now they hired some trash activist, and to be fair, i dont know her or her work, so maybe JUST MAYBE it actually will be good by freak chance? you never know

Who gives a frick about Star Wars anymore

I wonder how many tourists here don't remember how everybody thought Godzilla 2015 was going to be Heisenberg vs Godzilla. ...goddam that would have been dope AF.
They spent $4b on the ip. They’ve been pumping out some bullshit story every few months about Rey or taika waititty etc to keep shareholders happy. I’ll be surprised if anything comes of it.
It's been said again and again and again and again for the past nearly 10 years now;
Diversity is code-word for "Anti-White". I'm not even some kind of White Nationalist /misc/ weenie, but it's clear that this is the case
Sisko is the lowest-profile captain, for whatever reason. Like even back in late 1990s, promos would typically use Worf rather than Sisko as a the spokesman for the show, probably to bait casual TNG fans into tuning in.
Yeah at least the ST team did the sensible thing and retconned her show out of existence.
Burnham is fine but just that; fine. I get a lot more excitement out of watching an O'Brien episode or something and he's not the main character.
On the contrary, Burnham sucked because she never acted like what she was advertised as: a human raised by Vulcans. That she's Spock's long-lost stepsister only served to make the entire thing fanfic cringe from start to finish.
What’s so weird to me is when lies are told this blatantly in an age where any fact is verifiable in seconds with only your fingertips. We’ve reached the point where you can spew bullshit and it works because people are too lazy and stupid to even do a cursory google search.

>This time the force is really going to be female.
Always has been female. Reminder that the force gave us Anakin - a baby murdering mass killer who spent decades shitting on the galaxy because an old creepy dude promised him the power to save people from death, which he didn't even get.
What happened to studios not giving a major project like that to some no-name director? You could make the argument that a lot is weighing on this movie given Star War’s current status wouldn’t it be smarter to hire a director people are familiar with and may generate some hype? I’m not smart so I dunno it’s very possible there’s something I’m missing. I just know when I was a kid Sony wasn’t likely to give their first Spider-Man movie to someone’s whose sole credit was some indie project
Seems like an easy scapegoat if it doesn't do well. But if it does do well then they can dunk on chuds.
I'm sure there they'll be a bunch of people behind the new director helping her and doing everything they can to steer her in the right direction.
I just found out that Kathleen Kennedy never ever said "The Force is Female." It was just on a shirt that Nike gave her at a co-branding event. So not only did she never say it, it was forced on her by a third-party that had no involvement with the franchise at all.
Wow, not only do I believe that on your tone alone, I don't even think I could question your sources even if they were provided. Now, NOW I will embrace everything Kathleen Kennedy does and swallow all the nu-Wars slop like the good boy goy I was always meant to be. Paypiggies, are you with me? Oink-oink oink oink oinkoink oink!
None of that explains the actual timeline after it where she took that concept and ran with it like O.J. Simson sprinting down the 50 yard line untouched.
>I just found out that Kathleen Kennedy never ever said "The Force is Female." It was just on a shirt that Nike gave her at a co-branding event. So not only did she never say it, it was forced on her by a third-party that had no involvement with the franchise at all

>This is a trilogy, right?
I'm not sure, so far I don't think I've seen any official source mention anything more than one movie.
They probably would have immediately announced a trilogy if they were confident in their slop. It just feels like they're making this one just to antagonize the old fans. They have to know nobody wants to see more of those characters. They're just taunting their former fanbase at this point.
I think they're hoping to bank on nostalgia from people who were kids when they watched TFA or something (it won't work) and also the contrarianism of people who will watch it to "own the haters" or some shit.
The last movie in the trilogy was only over four years ago (December 2019), and everyone hated it. They need at least another half decade to bank on any sequel trilogy "nostalgia."
I just dunno if you can really do nostalgia for something that's 10 years old well. Did The Amazing Spider-Man movies get some major nostalgia boost from No Where Home? The most I saw were people saying they were bad movies with a good Spidey.

The frick you talking about. Plenty of articles about it. Cry more.
I would watch a Poe Dameron film. I might even watch a Finn film, there’s potential he could still be made interesting. Rey though? The character is irredeemable, you can’t salvage it, and the “actor” they have to play the character still does not possess the ability to fricking act.
>This is a trilogy, right?
I'm not sure, so far I don't think I've seen any official source mention anything more than one movie.

It's one film.
They announced three at the same time and those moronic esl fansites called it a trilogy.
There is a Filoni film that is meant to close the TV crap out, a origin of the jedi order film that won't happen and thus Rey film
>Mandalorian >starts on the right foot with an arc set up to become Mandalore >relinquish all that to Bo-Katan
>Ashoka >not one, not two, but three strong women
>Kenobi show >has to babysit Leia
>sequel trilogy >it's about Rey, who is perfect at everything right away
>another sequel trilogy >it's about Rey
At this point even if they have some runaway accidental hit where they have a male lead that is capable and the adventuring feels genuine (like Mando) they'll quickly convert it into another woke slog
They have an agenda, and will push it until it either succeeds, or the brand collapses. It's that simple. They want Star Wars to be a feminist franchise, and that's that. The future is either female, or buried.
didn't like her at first because she felt forced in; she grew on me and then was removed for thought crimes.
who'd have thought that a hook nosed parasitic entity would end up in control of what people are allowed to think and say.
it's turned more into that fungus that makes ants climb up trees to sprout, or toxoplasmosis making rats seek out cat piss
I think this one will. They've made a big enough deal about it and it can be justified as an out for Kennedy while blaming men
They'll do the same thing they did with all the other planned movie projects
>announce projects based on what the marketing team told him the audience wants (they're delusional) >gauge audience reaction >audience reaction is total demoralized indifference >wait a while >silently pull movie off schedule
I think the main issue here is that there's some woke marketing team they hired that keeps feeding them bullshit. Essentially they have a meeting and the marketing team tells them "THIS is trending on twitter, you have to include THIS in your next movie for it to be a success". The flaw in this logic is that twitter trends change daily and also twitter trends is not what translates into elements of a good movie.
So they're in this downward spiral of chasing trends and trying to react to a fickle demographic on twitter.
Someone auto-liking a "woke" post on twitter does not mean they're going to buy your soulless product and it certainly does not mean they have the money to keep throwing your way.
I still chuckle when I think of that fricking Jenkins trailer they did to advertise their Director for the rogue squadron film Coincidentally it was for a post Rise of Skywalker film.
lucasfilm is staffed by old women who are completely detached from reality and unable to update. they just spam outdated ragebait while giving zero fricks and collecting their checks

>Rey opens up a jedi academy >full of women and ethnic males >villain is white guy with a group of evil white guys >they defeat him through the power of diversity
It's going to be like that last Thor movie with a bunch of kids running around.

This. 7 set up a lot of potential for cool stories and characters. 8 ended 100% of them for no fricking reason, then lectured to us about animals, slavery, and… casinos?

The entire thing is a fever dream of bad decisions and total misunderstanding of what the audience wants on a fundamental level. It's like the entire thing was made as a sick joke.
>It's like the entire thing was made as a sick joke.
It was. The Lucasfilm Story Group exists only to push their own stupid shit, not anything actually Star Wars unless they can repurpose it for their rejected scripts.
>It's like the entire thing was made as a sick joke.
That's...... literally what it was. That was the entire point of the film. Congratulations, you cracked the code.
It was a sick joke because Rian is an butthole who wanted to shit all over everything. The fans, the franchise, everything. But there was no misunderstanding from Rian, it was all precision engineered to be shit.
>But there was no misunderstanding from Rian, it was all precision engineered to be shit.
THIS right here. Rian made exactly the movie he wanted to make. There was no lack of artistic integrity from Rian. He was simply 1000% the wrong person for the job from the get go. Every negative criticism about TLJ is true. The movie may have been full of SEETHING hate and jealousy for G.L. and all things Star Wars. But it was from the heart.
This. 7 set up a lot of potential for cool stories and characters. 8 ended 100% of them for no fricking reason, then lectured to us about animals, slavery, and… casinos?
Wrong. It was over the second this israelite decided he thought he knew Star Wars better than the man who created it, proceeded to toss out his story outlines, and undo the ending of RotJ so he could make his soulless creatively bankrupt soft reboot. TLJ sucks major donkey dick but make no mistake, JJ Abrams killed Star Wars.
Is it just me or did TFA & TROS pretty much kill JJ popularity as a director? He was basically a juggernaut pop culture wise before star wars and he’s dropped off the radar ever since. He got paid hundreds of millions by WB and produced absolutely nothing sure he’s stil a producer with bad robot but he isn’t exactly making headlines like he used to
It was probably one of the reasons, but he signed the deal with WB before TROS got released
Forbes found out last year that the budget for TROS wasn't $275 million as it was originally reported, but $416-503 million meaning at best the movie did only a little better than break even
Then COVID happened which curbed a lot of projects and reduced the amount of money Hollywood could throw around
Then it turned out with Rings of Power the showrunners were recommended by JJ
Then Zaslav took over WB and started slashing expensive projects and cut most of JJ's projects (there's still a few he has at WB, though)
It was TROS.
That was what finally woke normies up to realizing how much of a conman israeliteisraelite always was. Since then, his producer contracts have been slowly fading + he got fired by Warner Bros around 2022 for withholding money under Bad Robot for too long.
TROS being awful is probably what did it. People didn't really have much criticism for TFA at first, beyond the fact that it felt like a retread of A New Hope. The film was perhaps underwhelming or disappointing for people who expected big things, but most people didn't expect much. The prequels had lowered a lot of people's expectations of Star Wars movies, so getting something formulaic and familiar was almost a relief, and if it was unambitious then maybe it could at least serve as a base for better movies afterward.
And then TLJ came out, and it was sheer shit. This actually made people cling to TFA more, and blame Rian Johnson for ruining its potential. But then JJ released the final turd of the sequel trilogy, TROS, and it became apparent he had no plan at all, it had all been smoke and mirrors, and Rian pulling the rug out from under him just exposed him for the utter fraud he'd always been.
>TFA was a bit too safe but that's excusable
It did more damage than they let on. >rendered the end of the OT pointless >completely regressed Han, Leia, and Luke >killed off Han unceremoniously >established Rey as an inexplicable Mary Sue off the bat >Finn's defection made zero sense & was rushed >Poe goes missing for half the film >First Order was fricking stupid from the beginning (hurr durr, let's blow up the Droid carrying the map to Luke Skywalker, AKA the guy we're trying to find with said map) >"A good question...for another time" >Starkiller Base makes no sense in every way >the destruction of the Hosnian System displays Abrams' lack of understanding scale & distance >terrible MCU-tier """dialogue""" >a poor scavenger girl who's never used a lightsaber before succinctly beats a highly trained Sith-adjacent antagonist on the first try >Leia hugs Rey, a person she never met before, but never hugs Chewie in light of her ex-husband's death in mutual mourning >Finn was never going to work. The moment he started cracking jokes + acted like a minstrel after meeting Rey doomed him for the rest of the trilogy. >Snoke was always a joke >Phasma just exists >Hux was just an unsubtle space nazi >too many long-faced squinty-eyed OC aliens >Rian admitting he finished the TLJ script long before TFA finished filming >JJ + KK admitting they threw out Lucas' initial treatment >KK admitting they had no overarching plan for the nu-trilogy from the get go >The Resistance exists because......? >The First Order exists because......? >If the Resistance always knew the location of SKB, why didn't they act sooner to prevent the destruction of Hosnian Prime? >R2 conveniently holding the rest of the map leading to Luke + only waking up AFTER the nu Death Star exploded. >the piece of said map fitting like a jigsaw piece >helicopter shot ending
It was condemned to failure from the start. Its success was based on hype and blind faith in the next film covering the plot holes.
If a bunch of black gay trans women made a movie that was awesome, I would watch and enjoy it. It doesn't matter who you are, as long as you're making cool shit
When are they gonna quit this obnoxious grandstanding?
I tried watching ep9 again after completely erasing it from memory.
>Palpatine was alive all along on a secret planet that you need ancient artifacts obtained in Indiana Jones-styled adventures to reach >on this secret planet he managed to construct ten thousand star destroyers out of thin air >each of these star destroyers has an energy weapon that can destroy an entire planet in seconds >Kylo Ren still trying to be an edgelord, then he stops being an edgelord, then he dies unceremoniously >Palpatine is not actually Palpatine but some weird gestalt being that is a combination of all preceding sith lords and he wants to take over Rey's body and absorb her as well >wait nvm he realized Kylo and Rey are a "dyad" and can heal people so he wants himself healed instead >wait nvm he's dead because Rey had two lightsabers to deflect his lightning
Jurassic World was ridiculous. That film had seven main characters. >Starlord >Red head >Clone girl >Diversity pilot with afro >Sam Neil >Jeff Goldblum >Laura Dern
And they ALL line up against a wall so they can ALL get sniffed by a trex at the same time. Can you imagine the story board artist for that scene? >Wait, you want all seven characters in frame and the trex sniffs all of them?
The franchise has so many primary, secondary and tertiary characters that they can keep doing this forever.
They literally ruined Mando by overloading it with cameos.
I'm sure they'll eventually bring Mace back too and pretty much all of those "dead" jedi from the prequels and handwave it away as them being half cybernetic or some shit.
And they can have Chewie, C3PO and R2D2 show up forever.
Now more than ever you could salvage Rey as a character. Framing a new movie about her post Rise, with Sheev dead, have some plot point about her force powers being largely the result of being groomed as a vessel for Palp. With him dead, the bulk of her powers are gone. Set a movie about Rey having to pick up the pieces and build a new jedi group from scratch with her having to be both student and mentor to a couple new younger characters, make each one naturally gifted with the force of a specific alignment. One light, one Dark, Rey sits somewhere in the middle. Make good on this idea that Rey's whole life long goal is to actually end the eternal conflict between light and dark. Introduce a new threat in the form of a reactionary new republic military that wants to quash out the new jedi order. Rey's faction winds up full of reformed imperials and rebels who chafed under the new more martial Republic.
The problem with any further sequel is that they keep having to bring "imperials" back in some fort or another. Every other villain seems trite and not interesting or easily coded as evil as the imperials are.
Every single movie, spinoff and so on has defaulted back to the imperials being the villains.
So that means they'll bring the imperials back, then turns out Rey is having visions of Palpatine, because why not, then turns out she really COULD be a vessel for Palpatine then she needs to fight him off (rape parallels) etc..
This is why it should've ended with ROTJ and they should've simply created a new IP.
I think i mostly agree, I hate bringing imperials back with another helmet. I was thinking it would be bit of a twist, where the "heroic faction" of the previous stories has finally won, and is so fricking scared of the jedi and the imperials with the damage they've wrought in the last half century that they're jumping at shadows and committing atrocities in the name of never letting force users and the imperials gain power ever again. Naturally this clashes with the attempt at making a new neutral jedi order. Star Wars is so fricking locked into this generic iconography of "bad guy helmet vs normal guys"
The issue is that Star Wars at its core is a simple morality tale and the moral of it concluded in ROTJ. Having it continuously be extended not only cheapens the impact of the original tale, but automatically misses the point that it WAS a morality tale. Having everyone be some grey morality faction goes against the grain of the strengths of the franchise.
The story was GOOD vs EVIL and GOOD won. There's no room for grey or neutral or compromises or whatever... that's a DIFFERENT setting with a different ruleset.
>The story was GOOD vs EVIL and GOOD won. There's no room for grey or neutral or compromises or whatever... that's a DIFFERENT setting with a different ruleset.
Pathetic
Grey jedi have been a thing in the setting for a long ass time now. So it's not beyond the pale in terms of shit that's already established by any means. I think there would just be great drama potential with Rey, someone who didn't really have to work all that hard for her power, being shoved back down into the mud, and on top of that, she has to guide two people who've shown propensity to either side of the light/dark dichotomy. Rey having to recover her own power, while trying to basically stop the light vs dark cycle from starting again and actually maintain the balance in the force would be a damn sight more interesting than anything else Disney's going to eventually do with it. I'd also argue that she shouldn't survive more than a movie or two worth of plot. If they want that character to matter she should stay under powered, and die heroically after having put her faith in the other two characters sticking together as a pair and not succumbing to the eternal rivalry.
I aint saying it would be great. But It would salvage that fricking character a bit. Lord knows what they'll actually do with her will be way worse.

I'm being reductive for hyperboles sake. But I'm not wrong, Star Wars villains are defined by "evil helmet". Motherfricker have you seen these movies? Rogue One basically existed as a vehicle to sell like 4 new storm trooper designs, more than to actually have a satisfying narrative.
[...] >Muh bideo gayme lore
weird position to take given all the movies since Return of the Jedi have been dogshit, and the best the books can do are the Yuuzhan Vong
Your pitch sucks for the same reason a lot of modern Star Wars sucks: a complete lack of understanding of the cultural influences that went into the original trilogy. There is no "middle" when it comes to the dark vs light side of the force, and deliberately training a jedi to be strong with the dark side of the force is like raising your own child to be a sociopath. Then again if its framed as Rey doing this because she's a big moron who was never properly trained then it could be somewhat compelling, the only obstacle there is the writers will never allow her to be wrong.
Grey jedi have been a thing in the setting for a long ass time now. So it's not beyond the pale in terms of shit that's already established by any means. >Grey jedi have been a thing in the setting for a long ass time now.
That doesn't make them any less incongruent with the original intentions, or any less moronic. Its like saying you only suck wieners some of the time so your not entirely gay.
So Luke in TLJ? He just sat around like a big b***h, refusing to participate. Yeah that went over well. A hero who refuses to do anything, awesome. Just what the 35 year old childless millenials writing it-i mean kids will think is cool! A mope.
Grey Jedi are just jedi outside of the standard alignment. Someone who can accept both the good and bad parts of themselves without fully succumbing to either one. The Jedi Orders weird emotional sterility lead to stagnation and eventual extinction and the Sith were perpetually destroying themselves out of lust for power and paranoia. Luke more or less embodies this, he's a naturally altruistic person at heart, but he succumbs a bunch to his more base desires, namely in Empire he cuts his training short to rush back to his friends and almost dies for it, in Return he lets his rage take over and fricks Vader up before pulling himself back. The entire concept of "balance to the force" implies that it's the desired eventual state of the galaxy.
"Bringing balance to the Force" means the complete eradication of the Sith and and their tainting of the Force, which was accomplished when Vader killed Palpatine and was redeemed. Also our examples are not Luke being a "Gray Jedi", its just him failing at being a Jedi. And when you wield a power that makes the Death Star look insignificant (according to Vader), having some self discipline is pretty damn important. I shudder to think of the chaos that would ensue if most of the people who post here ever attained that kind of power.
How are they outside of the standard alignment? What distinguishes them? Acceptance? Luke accepts his rage will destroy him in ROTJ. Does that make him a Grey Jedi?
This is an ill defined concept. It can apply to almost any character in any canon. Vader technically accepted how full of hate and malice he was. Does that qualify him for the status of Grey Jedi? Definitely didn't listen to the Order or the Council either.
And the only place they can take Rey is forcing her to accept she isn't special. Like if she were chosen to represent the Force against the unnatural lifespan of Palpatine and now that he is gone permanently only she is left. So she must either acquiesce her power or succumb to the dark side.

Yeah that's the only thing I can see. It'd let them retcon at least part of TROS as well. You can have Ghost Kylo say Palpatine fricks with your head and all that shit about being his weird clone spawn, do you really believe that bullshit, Rey? You didn't believe me? You just HAD to be special? Well it turns out the Force just picked you really at total random. You're a Force Scion, or something. It's will made physically manifest, but now Palpy's gone, and you're shooting lightning out of your fricking hands like a Sith and doing weird shit like bringing me back to life but then I die anyway? Oh and you totally defeated Palpy by just whipping out another lightsaber? Nah you didn't lol, you don't until you just surrender the Force.
And so she finally either confronts she's just a normie that got picked at random and becomes a normie again or she let's Ghost Palpatine possess her for real.

Getting mad because somebody shit on your shitty fanfic.
Since you won't get a straight answer from the anon you're asking I'll try: they think a gray jedi have aspects of both the light and dark in them, as if they are some equal but opposite forces to be held in balance. But this is moronic because balance in Star Wars is like the Buddhist pursuit of enlightenment, which is to live in tune with the light side of the force. The dark side upsets this balance as it is purely a corrupting influence. Gray Jedi are pure nonsense invented by people who don't understand Star Wars, which always confuses me as to why they always get so defensive about their fanfiction when called out. They cling to the false interpretation of Star Wars so desperately they completely miss what George was trying to share with us in the first place.
Mate there is no salvaging her. She can shoot lighting out of her hands. She beat the strongest sith just by pulling out another lightsaber. She simply chose not to be possessed. She brought a man back to life by waving her fricking hands around.
It's israeli logic. You just keep repeating the same failed endeavor over and over again because next time it'll work despite nothing changing and people are even more against it when you roll it back around. They do the same thing with Communism.
>first star wars film in 5+ years >brand is on life support, need to hit this one out of the park >it's gonna be a huge tentpole blockbuster, probably a gigantic budget on this bad boy >out of all the possible choices to helm this colossal undertaking, chooses a feminist documentary filmmaker who also directed 2 episodes of ms. marvel because she's from pakistan so she's totally qualified
they really dont care how much money they piss down the drain do they?
Disney stock is down considerably from 2 years ago and Bob Iger acknowledged that the MCU is fricked and delayed everything to rework it. I don't understand how Lucasfilm/Kathleen Kennedy are still allowed to live in an alternate universe where woke media is still thriving and where the Star Wars brand isn't in the gutter. Either Kathleen Kennedy has an unreasonable amount of power/leverage within the company or they're just being extremely slow to adjust to the times.
>Either Kathleen Kennedy has an unreasonable amount of power/leverage
This.
She's got major dirt on Hollywood's shady dealings + she's a woman with a vegana who hits all the required ESG checkmarks in current year. She also has decades worth of connections with the industry elite & has decades worth of producer credits on some of the best & worst films in recent history. She's never getting fired no matter how much Doomcuck copes about it. If Disney goes bankrupt, she's going down with the ship.
>If Disney goes bankrupt, she's going down with the ship.
unlikely, she will fail upward into a new cushy position somewhere else. as you said, she has contacts.
Because the fact is the sequel movies made billions of dollars collectively. They can simply point to their box office as proof the films are popular. The evidence for the sequel's failure lies in its lack of ensuing success in merchandising and branding, which is where Lucas made his real fortune on Star Wars. If your Star Wars movies can't move toys and themed merchandise to the extent that the OT and even the prequels did, then they're failures.
For Disney in particular the brand is the real money maker, not the film itself. The movie being able to pay for itself is nice, but what they really need is something to draw people to parks and other themed attractions based on the film. Disney would probably trade half the total box office gross for these films in exchange for better toy sales. At least half. Toy sales are huge for a brand like this, because it's indicative of long-term success. Toy sales mean kids who grow up into life long fans of the sort Star Wars has profited off of for decades. Lifelong Star Wars fans are what turned it into a juggernaut in the first place, and in a way that is the entire reason Disney made more Star Wars films: they wanted to grow their own crop of fans loyal to their Star Wars brand, rather than Lucas's, for the next several decades.
And they totally failed in that respect. Kathleen probably hides behind the box office totals for the movies but everybody else knows the brand is in a bad situation right now with extremely low engagement from kids and total abandonment by the hardcore fans who had supported Star Wars in the past.
gen x weridos, the youngest boomers, millenials who got hooked in the 90's with the Special Edition + Episode 1 hype, but outside of that, basically nobody gives a shit.
Nobody cares about Disney Wars period. You can go talk to any normal person and they're like >Uh no I'd didn't like those as much/don't remember them.
They really are just complete duds.
>need to make money >not just making John Wick in space with Darth Vader >whole movie is based Hayden being an edgelord where he kills a bunch of Jedi on some jedi temple planet and shit >few scenes for the fans to say "He's still le Ani Banani inside" >print infinite money, make a tie in video game, a sequel to print even more money
Why are they so moronic?
I don't have a problem with women in sci-fi.
There have been several GREAT science fiction writers who were women.
These women both created their own original works, and they made contributions to existing sci-fi franchises. Including Star Wars. They wrote many good and great episodes of popular science fiction television shows, including Star Trek.
Get THEM to work on the new Star Wars. Yes, some of them are old. Who cares?
They can still write. They have decades and decades of experience with the subject and know how to write a good story that anyone can enjoy.
These women they have working on sci-fi now are jenny-come-latelys who have never even proven themselves capable of creating good sci-fi in the mediums traditionally used as testing grounds before a person gets into movie making: novels and comic books.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is a journalist. Perhaps even a very good one. She has written numerous non-fiction works. She is a skilled political activist, not a creative genius. She has written so far three generic children's movies that made zero impact in the world.
She has no qualifications at all for making a good Star Wars film. She has done NO WORK AT ALL with anything regarding practical special effects, nor does her biography suggest any interest all in the subject. There is NOTHING from her to suggest any Star Wars film she makes will be good. NOTHING to suggest she has any connection to this kind of movie making at all.
She's bi-racial, a woman, and woke. That's all the qualifications she needs, chud. The war against the patriarchy is taking place on earth, among the stars. A Star Wars.
This is the MCU formula. Textbook verbatim. Everything from them is producer driven. The directors are just hired guns made to be plug and play into the already existing machine.
Most current MCU movies and shows don't even have finished scripts before they begin shooting. They are very up front about it. They just start shooting whatever they have on hand at the time. Then get enough shot to make a complete movie or show. Then test it in front of friends and family. It always test horribly because it was made in a moronic way in the first place. So they reshoot the whole thing. This is how you get shittly shows like She-Hulk and Secret Invasion movies like the Marvels costing more than Rebel Moon.
Well she actually wrote sci-fi (or more accurately supernatural teen drama with sci-fi flavoring) so I'd at least say her credentials are better than this documentarian.
Let me be honest with you for a moment anon.
I thought to myself "who made a smaller, interesting sci-fi film a few years ago who would be primed for directing something bigger now?"
So I go and search for best sci-fi movies 2010s and I notice "Lucy" is among them.
That was directed by Luc Besson.
I've heard of this guy. What else has he directed? I click on his page. >Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
Oh right. The movie that was essentially an attempt to create a new space opera franchise.
Which flopped. Hard.
We all know how that'll turn out. First some diversity hire woman starts running her mouth about empowerment/representation. Disastrous test screenings. Reshoots. Delays. Okayish opening weekend followed by a steep decline in ticket sales. Underperformance/flop.
WHY WON'T CHUDS/INCELS/MALES WATCH MY MOVIE ? ?? ?
Yes. All this time, we've been living in pre-war Fallout. So you can't blame left wing misandrists for any of the problems that Hollywood is having because it's actually your fault.
why dont they simply create their own thing?
Destroying something is easier than creating something
Because the gay israelites in charge would rather watch christisraelite Zack Snyder burn a pile of money
Because you guys would ridicule it and call it woke propaganda anyways
No one would if it weren't for the fact that you can't create something original without b***hing about men or white people or engaging in a ridiculous amount of affirmative action
isn’t that cultural appropriation though?
it’s almost like women and troons don’t have any moral consistency
anon, the purpose of [x] isnt [x] but to destroy white people and white society. its always to destroy white people and white society.
…only if it was offensive propaganda rather than being a film, yes.
It's a bit weird that you haven't gotten it by now.
Because evil cannot create.
underrated post
Starwars belongs to them, they payed for it and it wasn't cheap, they can do whatever they want with it
Yeah so why make decisions that will make them money? Just buy it and burn it man. Frick movies and entertainment amiright?
I don't think you understand how this works. They could give two flying frickis if Star Wars or anything else fails.
How can one cry over something they care nothing about. Protip: they don't,
M8 as fricking shit and stupid as the last few films were they still made a frickload of money.
Why can't a woman direct a Star Wars film?
Well this woman seems to be a b***h who just wants to push her agenda over anything else.
because they can't direct at all ever
with the except that proves the rule of katheryn bigalow
reminder that this was directed by a woman
and its shit
same way a man shouldnt direct a hello kitty or barbie movie
Destroying a thing, thats real power.
Because the white liberals do not believe that minorities are capable of achieving anything on their own.
They can only corrupt popular things, they can't make their own thing.
> "Mommmmm! Sandra is playing with my toys!"
Play nice incels. Learn to share.
>Just let morons ruin franchises, incel
> Star Wars means so much to meeeee!
Not your IP. Not your problem.
I stopped buying a long time ago. "They" can keep it. If Star Wars is a moldering corpse on the side of the road with naught but shills furiously jerking off to their own headcanons of how a disjointed, lazy, corporate piece of shit is a masterpiece, c'est la vie.
I did some thinking, and I feel like I "get" it. It's assumed people will buy Star Wars because it says Star Wars, same with Marvel. So thus they take some nobodies they can hire for cheap and say "we already have the men secured. Go expand the market towards women and minorities" and so it implodes.
>Dude just be in nihilistic homosexual like me who lets his favorite franchises be pissed on by vandals
you're part of the problem
> I care so much about a spaceships and light saber media franchise. So much sometimes I hurt inside.
And most sane people don't quite as much. You don't have to watch what Disney is making, but hate watching and seething about it all day isn't healthy.
I don't even watch disney's slop, you apathetic homosexual
You don't have to be a Disney shill either yet here you are.
It's about hating and attacking straight white men and destroying everything we care about!!!FACT!!!
>why dont they simply create their own thing?
they just did, it's called Rebel Moon and it's fricking shit too
Evil cannot create anything new, they can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made.
Because they want to ruin yours.
Evil cannot create
only destroy
I wonder if they'll show Rey shitting in the streets.
Yes, I will be playing the street.
Please bomb I want the feminists and cucks to seethe.
t. Moderate Democrat who hates woke and feminazi trash
t. Shill
>Please bomb I want the feminists and cucks to seethe.
>t. Moderate Democrat who hates woke and feminazi trash
Are you me?....GET OUT OF MY HEAD
>moderate democrat
You still share blame for the shit we're in. Your silence while your party went further and further into insanity helped doom us all. I hope you die painfully when the time comes.
Not that Anon. But we are painfully aware of our sins and the monster we have created.
There are no words to describe how we hate that our side has been hijacked by groomers and troons. THERE....ARE...NO....WORDS
>moderate democrat
feel real bad for these types who desperately try to see the silver lining in their shitshow party, i used to be that too if you can't embrace conservatism I suggest you consider Libertarian politics, best of both worlds and you can just say no to the parts you dont agree with unlike democrats
>Democrat
You're part of the problem. The people you vote in facilitate the wokeshit and want you to be stupid, in debt, and unhealthy so you're easier to control.
i dont think there is a choice of it succeeding. everything EVERYTHING post mandalorian season 1 is doing horrible numbers. EVERYTHING disney recently has been doing horrible. i guess we can be sure it tanks financially. now they hired some trash activist, and to be fair, i dont know her or her work, so maybe JUST MAYBE it actually will be good by freak chance? you never know
>hates wokeshit
>votes for wokeshit party
Useful idiot.
>Moderate Democrat who
"who" is for people, (you) should be using "that" when referring to (you)rself
You won’t escape blame for what’s coming
Women can have it
Who gives a frick about Star Wars anymore
I want a Sopranos x Godzilla crossover
> “T…A FRICKIN 300ft GAIJUN JUST TOOK OUT THE BING”
> “CHRISSY WHAT THE FRICK DID I TELL YOU ABOUT DOING THOSE DRUGS”
Can we have Ruby Gillman meets Frasier too?
bet you thought that was funny too
I laughed
shut the frick up zoomer trash kys
haha... so funny...
I wonder how many tourists here don't remember how everybody thought Godzilla 2015 was going to be Heisenberg vs Godzilla. ...goddam that would have been dope AF.
They pretended to like Star Wars too hard
>It's another first female to do xyz - episode.
Weren't they saying the exact same thing about the exact sane character in 2015?
>it's about time
What the frick has Kathleen Kennedy been doing all this time?
making billions on disney short sells
its about time a story created by a man was handed off to women
What do you call it when a company doubles down on an idea 8 times in a row on the same franchise?
Disney
They spent $4b on the ip. They’ve been pumping out some bullshit story every few months about Rey or taika waititty etc to keep shareholders happy. I’ll be surprised if anything comes of it.
Corporate Fraud
insanity
>I feel what we’re about to create is something very special.
NARRATOR: They didn't. It was the same old shit.
It's about time a man shaped Barbie 2.
What does this acronym stand for?
Huge Young Pussy Erection
>the joke is sex
Bravo
sounds familiar
Burnham is fine but just that; fine. I get a lot more excitement out of watching an O'Brien episode or something and he's not the main character.
>first black lead
This is what they call 'bait' right?
The actress who was in that Obiwan show also claimed to be the first main black character in star wars.
>also claimed to be the first main black character in star wars
Not exactly, it's worst than that, kek
Until the movie is 90% black, it ain't Black.
It's been said again and again and again and again for the past nearly 10 years now;
Diversity is code-word for "Anti-White". I'm not even some kind of White Nationalist /misc/ weenie, but it's clear that this is the case
>the first black lead
How did it come to this where shit like that gets published? WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG??
Sisko is the lowest-profile captain, for whatever reason. Like even back in late 1990s, promos would typically use Worf rather than Sisko as a the spokesman for the show, probably to bait casual TNG fans into tuning in.
the show just wasn't doing that well in the ratings and they did a lot of Next Generation crossovers to try and get viewers
Occupy Wall Street. Kids wanted a revolution, they fabricated one. Simple diversion. Unite! Against each other! But not us!
>the sky is the limit
>being cast in star trek is more important than being president
>Not even liberals acknowledge Deep Space Nine
Ouch.
Guess the original headline.
It was non binary?
Yeah at least the ST team did the sensible thing and retconned her show out of existence.
On the contrary, Burnham sucked because she never acted like what she was advertised as: a human raised by Vulcans. That she's Spock's long-lost stepsister only served to make the entire thing fanfic cringe from start to finish.
Black folks sure love hyphenated surnames nowadays.
What’s so weird to me is when lies are told this blatantly in an age where any fact is verifiable in seconds with only your fingertips. We’ve reached the point where you can spew bullshit and it works because people are too lazy and stupid to even do a cursory google search.
>Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is a Pakistani-Canadian journalist, filmmaker and activist known for her work in films that highlight gender inequality against women. Obaid-Chinoy received her bachelor's degree in economics and government
Well then
>Women only date men better than them
>There is gender inequality
Why would men do this?
it's funny because they keep on duping the idiots who pay to see this slop. The drama surrounding nuwars is the most fun thing to come off it ngl
Sounds like the perfect person for a job specifically aimed at selling toys to kids. Rose Tico will be a bestseller in comparison.
that 4 dollary does for the whole carton?
i honestly feel bad for this fat little jungle asian
like, everything i've seen about her, she's pretty normal
not a nasty vapid c**t like LARGE TEETH FOR CRACKING SHELLFISH
maybe i've just not been paying attention
of course she's nice but they put her in as a consolation prize for the black guy and the people who wanted him to frick that white girl got super insulted and harassed her which was blamed on us, real red pill when i looked at her actual ig and saw the profiles of the people and what they were writing and how incompatible it was with the media narrative
OOOOOOFFFFF
Yea Disney should keep hiring woke feminists pushing Maoist cultural revolution. That will save the stock.
Exactly the person I would place in charge of my science fiction action film!
I hope this movie is about a political agenda first and entertainment second.
There's a near 100% chance she will inject Palestinian/Israel shit into this and get herself blacklisted from Hollywood.
Hey, it would save us from a shitty movie being made
Do girls even care about star wars?
Yes I'm a huge fan, always have been. Spock is my favourite character.
Mone too! His fur is so cute!
I don’t think boys care about Star Wars either at this point.
It's not like men did a better job so far, might as well.
This is it. This time the force is really going to be female. This has been what's missing and will make star wars great again.
>This time the force is really going to be female.
Always has been female. Reminder that the force gave us Anakin - a baby murdering mass killer who spent decades shitting on the galaxy because an old creepy dude promised him the power to save people from death, which he didn't even get.
I remember when anons fought for Star Wars, now even Cinemaphile is bored with it
What happened to studios not giving a major project like that to some no-name director?
CHUDS BTFO
Amazing how disingenuous Redditors are. They know exactly what people were mocking with that shirt, but feign dumb.
>anon's source is reddit
dang you couldn't write a skit better than this
Have another
This is verifiably false because they sold merchandise at the time with that slogan on it. She would have signed off on it.
>the force they're referring to wasn't even related to Star Wars
None of that explains the actual timeline after it where she took that concept and ran with it like O.J. Simson sprinting down the 50 yard line untouched.
>I just found out that Kathleen Kennedy never ever said "The Force is Female." It was just on a shirt that Nike gave her at a co-branding event. So not only did she never say it, it was forced on her by a third-party that had no involvement with the franchise at all
You're a fricking liar and everyone knows it you piece of shit!!!FACT!!!
she still wore it
This is a trilogy, right? Holy shit, what are they gonna do when the first one bombs?
Double down four times as much for the next one.
It'll all be our fault btw.
They want to cement that their OC totally replaced Luke in the role he was supposed to take. "No, LUKE didn't revive the Jedi, REY did!"
Exactly, she'll succeed where Luke failed. Again.
I think they're hoping to bank on nostalgia from people who were kids when they watched TFA or something (it won't work) and also the contrarianism of people who will watch it to "own the haters" or some shit.
>people who were kids when they watched TFA
The last movie in the trilogy was only over four years ago (December 2019), and everyone hated it. They need at least another half decade to bank on any sequel trilogy "nostalgia."
That's why I said TFA
I just dunno if you can really do nostalgia for something that's 10 years old well. Did The Amazing Spider-Man movies get some major nostalgia boost from No Where Home? The most I saw were people saying they were bad movies with a good Spidey.
Toys sold like shit, so nah.
>Did The Amazing Spider-Man movies get some major nostalgia boost from No Where Home? The most I saw were people saying they were bad movies with a good Spidey
They did actually in normie spheres on YouTube and such. People demanding a Spiderman 3 from Sony at the time.
Source on toys selling like shit?
Yeah. You have no numbers
Jewgle it gay. There’s a million articles about it.
>absolutely no source for his claims
c**t
this isn't reddit homosexual frick off with your sauce begging
>make lazy claim
>is called out
>rr-e-eddit!
embarrassing
The frick you talking about. Plenty of articles about it. Cry more.
>everyone hated it.
Not true. Kids loved it.
You just don't know because you're not allowed around any
the kids you groom on discord don't count
>Groomer accidentally admits he's a groomer
I would watch a Poe Dameron film. I might even watch a Finn film, there’s potential he could still be made interesting. Rey though? The character is irredeemable, you can’t salvage it, and the “actor” they have to play the character still does not possess the ability to fricking act.
It's one film.
They announced three at the same time and those moronic esl fansites called it a trilogy.
There is a Filoni film that is meant to close the TV crap out, a origin of the jedi order film that won't happen and thus Rey film
mouseBlack folk are so delusional
Star Wars died with the Prequels.
Let it go already.
the prequels were kino
If you’re a close minded millennial
End SW died. As democracy. Where yours applies? It is poetry's.
Look, stupid named b***h, a woman has shaped the last like, 4 movies and numerous shows (Kennedy) and they all fricking sucked.
>Finally, a movie about everyone's favorite character - Rey Skywalker
Weren't the past 3 movies about her?
But she's charismatic as hell!
this so much this
I can't wait to see how far back they stretch her ponytail and hide her figure under bland rags in this new series of films
It's like they're pretending they didn't try this with that Wonder Woman director
The icon they use to represent the Dawn of the Jedi is a woman btw
>Mandalorian
>starts on the right foot with an arc set up to become Mandalore
>relinquish all that to Bo-Katan
>Ashoka
>not one, not two, but three strong women
>Kenobi show
>has to babysit Leia
>sequel trilogy
>it's about Rey, who is perfect at everything right away
>another sequel trilogy
>it's about Rey
At this point even if they have some runaway accidental hit where they have a male lead that is capable and the adventuring feels genuine (like Mando) they'll quickly convert it into another woke slog
>another sequel trilogy
Just the one
Rey gets one film, however Ashoka gets another and this
gets the last.
They have an agenda, and will push it until it either succeeds, or the brand collapses. It's that simple. They want Star Wars to be a feminist franchise, and that's that. The future is either female, or buried.
>or the brand collapses
you mean like 5 years ago?
Yep. They're now just trying again to see if post-pandemic, things will be different. They won't.
and thats a good thing!
Have my doubts until I see a trailer. It just doesn't seem real.
Also just to add, Cara Dune was 10x as popular as Bo Katan until Gina Carano was punished for wrong think.
didn't like her at first because she felt forced in; she grew on me and then was removed for thought crimes.
who'd have thought that a hook nosed parasitic entity would end up in control of what people are allowed to think and say.
it's turned more into that fungus that makes ants climb up trees to sprout, or toxoplasmosis making rats seek out cat piss
>in a galaxy fat, fat away
I dont actually believe this movie is going to get made. It feels like everything they plan is just going to get canceled.
I think this one will. They've made a big enough deal about it and it can be justified as an out for Kennedy while blaming men
Yep. The Rey movie is the one that is actually guaranteed to come out. It's the other ones that might get canned.
They'll do the same thing they did with all the other planned movie projects
>announce projects based on what the marketing team told him the audience wants (they're delusional)
>gauge audience reaction
>audience reaction is total demoralized indifference
>wait a while
>silently pull movie off schedule
Kek I remember IGN interviewing the director or writer for the Cyborg movie. That shit never came out.
This shit feels like that. Fake press.
lucasfilm is staffed by old women who are completely detached from reality and unable to update. they just spam outdated ragebait while giving zero fricks and collecting their checks
I'm just waiting for Lucas to snap one day and organize a press conference where he lets loose and goes full autismo on them to a thundering applause.
He already compared them to slave owners and that was BEFORE all this debacle happened. He's probably nuclear at this point.
Pretty sure there was some clause in the deal he signed that says he can't publicly disparage the films. He's already said enough https://www.youtube.com/shorts/HJiM1ymU9eA
Feels ridiculous that that's even legally enforceable tbqh. They bought it *from* him.
it's unfortunate racist, misogynistic, sexist incels will make this flop. funny how they never blame their fellow women for not showing up to the box office and instead demand the men be held accountable lol
Great so...
>Rey opens up a jedi academy
>full of women and ethnic males
>villain is white guy with a group of evil white guys
>they defeat him through the power of diversity
It's going to be like that last Thor movie with a bunch of kids running around.
WHAT COULD GO WRONG
Imagine losing hundreds of millions of dollars and not getting fired. Everyone just keeps smiling and pitching the worst ideas they can think of that everyone knows will lose more money. Hundreds of millions more.
What the frick is wrong with these people?
Too big to fail. If they fall hard enough, they will get bailed out by the government.
It really all collapsed with Rian.
TFA was a bit too safe but that's excusable since they didn't want to give the audience anything too risky.
But then Rian fricked it up royally and ever since then they've been spiraling in damage control and doubling down on mistakes.
This. 7 set up a lot of potential for cool stories and characters. 8 ended 100% of them for no fricking reason, then lectured to us about animals, slavery, and… casinos?
That entire movie is like some bizarre nightmare
>hot azn pilot dies in a bizarre bombing run so we can have her frumpy sister be a character later on
>Luke is a demoralized depressed loser hiding away
>the ENTIRE movie consists of one fleet running away from the other until they run out of fuel
>the rebels suspect that there's a spy amongst them but nobody points out that Finn is a former stormtrooper
>some annoying purple haired condescending woman takes charge of everything
>Finn, despite being a former stormtrooper that should be scrutinized is given a mission to bring the hacker ... mind you, they could've given him a mission to idk, bring more fuel to the fleet?!? anyway the hacker is needed because reasons
>so while the entire fleet is on the run, a small team simply goes on a little detour to a casino planet
>hyperspace ramming, why not just ... have droids pilot junky transport ships and hyperspace ram them into everything?
>Leia flying through space
>ANOTHER throne room fight scene
>Snoke killed off without ever being clear who the frick he is and how the frick is he in charge
Yeah it felt insulting. Like they just wanted to hurt fans.
I can't come to terms that the same man ruined Star Wars and Star Trek.
This. I knew straight away in 2012 when I heard the words "Disney" and "J.J Abrams" that we were in for shit. TFA was objectively garbage
It did more damage than they let on.
>rendered the end of the OT pointless
>completely regressed Han, Leia, and Luke
>killed off Han unceremoniously
>established Rey as an inexplicable Mary Sue off the bat
>Finn's defection made zero sense & was rushed
>Poe goes missing for half the film
>First Order was fricking stupid from the beginning (hurr durr, let's blow up the Droid carrying the map to Luke Skywalker, AKA the guy we're trying to find with said map)
>"A good question...for another time"
>Starkiller Base makes no sense in every way
>the destruction of the Hosnian System displays Abrams' lack of understanding scale & distance
>terrible MCU-tier """dialogue"""
>a poor scavenger girl who's never used a lightsaber before succinctly beats a highly trained Sith-adjacent antagonist on the first try
>Leia hugs Rey, a person she never met before, but never hugs Chewie in light of her ex-husband's death in mutual mourning
>Finn was never going to work. The moment he started cracking jokes + acted like a minstrel after meeting Rey doomed him for the rest of the trilogy.
>Snoke was always a joke
>Phasma just exists
>Hux was just an unsubtle space nazi
>too many long-faced squinty-eyed OC aliens
>Rian admitting he finished the TLJ script long before TFA finished filming
>JJ + KK admitting they threw out Lucas' initial treatment
>KK admitting they had no overarching plan for the nu-trilogy from the get go
>The Resistance exists because......?
>The First Order exists because......?
>If the Resistance always knew the location of SKB, why didn't they act sooner to prevent the destruction of Hosnian Prime?
>R2 conveniently holding the rest of the map leading to Luke + only waking up AFTER the nu Death Star exploded.
>the piece of said map fitting like a jigsaw piece
>helicopter shot ending
It was condemned to failure from the start. Its success was based on hype and blind faith in the next film covering the plot holes.
>>Leia hugs Rey, a person she never met before, but never hugs Chewie in light of her ex-husband's death in mutual mourning
That was when the whole thing died for me.
>Mando, Rogue One, Andor, Fallen Order
>the only good SW of the past 10 years were made by men with male protagonists
Let that sink in.
>rogue one
>male protagonist
If a bunch of black gay trans women made a movie that was awesome, I would watch and enjoy it. It doesn't matter who you are, as long as you're making cool shit
When are they gonna quit this obnoxious grandstanding?
But you chuds told me wokeness was dead. Disney is scared, Disney is running, Disney is two weeks from total collapse.
Today, i will remind them
I CAN'T THINK OF A MORE ORIGINAL IDEA THAT REDOING THE JEDI ACADEMY IDEA AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN
I tried watching ep9 again after completely erasing it from memory.
>Palpatine was alive all along on a secret planet that you need ancient artifacts obtained in Indiana Jones-styled adventures to reach
>on this secret planet he managed to construct ten thousand star destroyers out of thin air
>each of these star destroyers has an energy weapon that can destroy an entire planet in seconds
>Kylo Ren still trying to be an edgelord, then he stops being an edgelord, then he dies unceremoniously
>Palpatine is not actually Palpatine but some weird gestalt being that is a combination of all preceding sith lords and he wants to take over Rey's body and absorb her as well
>wait nvm he realized Kylo and Rey are a "dyad" and can heal people so he wants himself healed instead
>wait nvm he's dead because Rey had two lightsabers to deflect his lightning
I liked the part where Luke, Han, Lando and dead Carrie Fisher show up for one last paycheck to save this dumpster fire.
I wonder if the whole "cameos of the original cast to make this reboot super official" is finally over thanks to Star Wars.
Nope, Jurassic world did it too. Got to watch some old actors flirt and kiss at the end for gross nostalgia bait.
Jurassic World was ridiculous. That film had seven main characters.
>Starlord
>Red head
>Clone girl
>Diversity pilot with afro
>Sam Neil
>Jeff Goldblum
>Laura Dern
And they ALL line up against a wall so they can ALL get sniffed by a trex at the same time. Can you imagine the story board artist for that scene?
>Wait, you want all seven characters in frame and the trex sniffs all of them?
Yeah it was. Looking back they should have stuck with the new main characters plus a story arc with Goldblum. No one else.
They just did it with the new Exorcist movie
Rey's faction winds up full of reformed imperials and rebels who chafed under the new more martial Republic.
ez, disney give me $400,000,000
2/10, would not watch
Pathetic
>Muh bideo gayme lore
>grey jedi is video game lore
No
If it doesn't come from the OT, it's not canon.
Agreed but that still doesn’t mean grey jedi came from video games.
>>Muh bideo gayme lore
It's amazing how non Star Wars fans reveal themselves so easily, even on Cinemaphile of all places
It really makes sense how Lucasfilm can get so many onions sucking homosexuals to cheer on the latest thing
> I'm so mad about the helmets! Grrrrr!
This is why no one takes your opinion seriously. because it's not in any way a serious opinion.
I'm being reductive for hyperboles sake. But I'm not wrong, Star Wars villains are defined by "evil helmet". Motherfricker have you seen these movies? Rogue One basically existed as a vehicle to sell like 4 new storm trooper designs, more than to actually have a satisfying narrative.
weird position to take given all the movies since Return of the Jedi have been dogshit, and the best the books can do are the Yuuzhan Vong
> He's evil -- but he doesn't have an Evil Helmet?! *cries*
Remember that time Kylo Ren destroyed his bad guy helmet, and everyone screamed and cried so they had him fix it and wear it again for the next movie?
>Grey jedi have been a thing in the setting for a long ass time now.
That doesn't make them any less incongruent with the original intentions, or any less moronic. Its like saying you only suck wieners some of the time so your not entirely gay.
Gray Jedi literally means nothing.
Define a Grey Jedi.
>Like if she were chosen to represent the Force against the unnatural lifespan of Palpatine and now that he is gone permanently only she is left. So she must either acquiesce her power or succumb to the dark side
Unfathomably kino, which means that it will never happen.
>And so she finally either confronts she's just a normie that got picked at random and becomes a normie again or she let's Ghost Palpatine possess her for real.
I can't believe that you figured out a way for that whole sequel shitstorm to make some semblance of sense. Those movies will always be obscene egocentric dogshit, but at least the overall storyline would have something resembling consistency.
Shut the frick up Rian. Your movie was an asscrack shitstain an your movie can never be salvaged.
>getting this mad over a kids movie
Nobody cares about Star Wars.
>quadrupling down on this slop
when are disney execs actually getting fired? how can they keep burning this much money with no consequences?
It's israeli logic. You just keep repeating the same failed endeavor over and over again because next time it'll work despite nothing changing and people are even more against it when you roll it back around. They do the same thing with Communism.
This b***h with a Star Wars alien ass name is stuck in 2017 lmao
But a woman has been running star wars for the last decade. Don't gaslight me bro.
Maybe the new movie will further explain how she learned how to do everything living inside an AT-AT.
That is some serious cope to try and convince people that Rey isn't a Mary Sue.
>first star wars film in 5+ years
>brand is on life support, need to hit this one out of the park
>it's gonna be a huge tentpole blockbuster, probably a gigantic budget on this bad boy
>out of all the possible choices to helm this colossal undertaking, chooses a feminist documentary filmmaker who also directed 2 episodes of ms. marvel because she's from pakistan so she's totally qualified
they really dont care how much money they piss down the drain do they?
Disney stock is down considerably from 2 years ago and Bob Iger acknowledged that the MCU is fricked and delayed everything to rework it. I don't understand how Lucasfilm/Kathleen Kennedy are still allowed to live in an alternate universe where woke media is still thriving and where the Star Wars brand isn't in the gutter. Either Kathleen Kennedy has an unreasonable amount of power/leverage within the company or they're just being extremely slow to adjust to the times.
The pain of getting rid of her must somehow exceed the pain of keeping her around.
KK has the greatest dead man's switch of all time. Epstein could have learned a thing or two from her.
Who the frick even watches soïwars? I don't know think zoomers give a frick. Maybe it's millennial manchildren.
gen x weridos, the youngest boomers, millenials who got hooked in the 90's with the Special Edition + Episode 1 hype, but outside of that, basically nobody gives a shit.
Nobody cares about Disney Wars period. You can go talk to any normal person and they're like
>Uh no I'd didn't like those as much/don't remember them.
They really are just complete duds.
>need to make money
>not just making John Wick in space with Darth Vader
>whole movie is based Hayden being an edgelord where he kills a bunch of Jedi on some jedi temple planet and shit
>few scenes for the fans to say "He's still le Ani Banani inside"
>print infinite money, make a tie in video game, a sequel to print even more money
Why are they so moronic?
>never see the kino of the mass wookie genocide from force unleashed on the big screen
Don't they mean Rey New New Jedi Order?
Women ruin everything, they are not meant to be leaders
Why stop with just one?
I thought Katherine Kennedy was instrumental in all the recent SW movies.
We're rewriting history again. Can't let the chuds win.
Marcia Lucas edited the original trilogy.
Kathleen Kennedy had the final say over all creative choices of the Disney trilogy.
Listen:
A Star Wars.
those women wont peddle propaganda as easily as some diversity hire yesman/women will
>She has no qualifications at all for making a good Star Wars film. She has done NO WORK AT ALL with anything regarding practical special effects, nor does her biography suggest any interest all in the subject. There is NOTHING from her to suggest any Star Wars film she makes will be good. NOTHING to suggest she has any connection to this kind of movie making at all.
This is the MCU formula. Textbook verbatim. Everything from them is producer driven. The directors are just hired guns made to be plug and play into the already existing machine.
And yet, when they got rid of the committee, that was the beginning of the end.
Kathy Tyers is also available.
Can anyone on Cinemaphile recognize this female science fiction author? I bet you liked her books if you are millennial.
Is that the author of Animorphs?
Yes, it is. K.A. Applegate.
How would you react to hearing she's writing a Star Wars script?
Indifferent, I haven't read an animorphs book in over 20 years. I honestly have no concrete memories of what her writing was like.
She writes weird sci-fi. Like goes out of her way to make her alien species as whack as possible and loooves her body horror and gruesome deaths.
Her Star Wars would be about some horrific and disgusting alien species threatening the galaxy.
Well she actually wrote sci-fi (or more accurately supernatural teen drama with sci-fi flavoring) so I'd at least say her credentials are better than this documentarian.
It's. About. Time.
TFA is pretty shit on it's own but at least it knows its a Star Wars movie and tries to be exciting. TLJ is literally just boring.
Okay who would you have direct Star Wars if you had the choice?
Let me be honest with you for a moment anon.
I thought to myself "who made a smaller, interesting sci-fi film a few years ago who would be primed for directing something bigger now?"
So I go and search for best sci-fi movies 2010s and I notice "Lucy" is among them.
That was directed by Luc Besson.
I've heard of this guy. What else has he directed? I click on his page.
>Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
Oh right. The movie that was essentially an attempt to create a new space opera franchise.
Which flopped. Hard.
So... yeah. I don't know.
>Rogue One doesn't exist and didn't make one billion fricking dollars
These people are moronic
>Fans hate it
>Lets make more
Why is this normal now?
I will be absolutely stunned if this goes ahead. Nothing will surprise me anymore. It’s like the worst idea I’ve ever seen.
>it's about time a woman shaped a star wars film
didn't they try that 10 years ago? am i insane? did i hallucinate that?
Yes. All this time, we've been living in pre-war Fallout. So you can't blame left wing misandrists for any of the problems that Hollywood is having because it's actually your fault.
isn't that what they were saying and doing since they bought the IP?
>HER WARS
How do jedi women deal with raggin' out?
>Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy
So what's xer earth-name?
The force is female
Pro-Palestinians are everywhere now.
What on Earth does that have anything to do with the utterly abysmal state of Star Wars?
Put a chick in it and make it lame and gay
