Why the frick did they axe Prodigy?
So much for every series, every episode.
On Enterprise, season 4! Experiencing some whiplash as this adventure goes from 1 to the next. I finished up the Dr. Soong saga with his freak kids. Now we are dealing with a vulcan conspiracy!
I actually feel bad about prodigy being axed. I was really looking forward to making my way toward it and seeing more Janeway kino.
I thought we are getting another season.
Now there is no reason to have paramount plus.
This is legally false advertising now, right?
I fixed it so underpaid shills don't get sued.
moron, that poster doesn't even had any Prodigy stuff on it to begin with.
Prodigy S02 is completing production and coming out soon.
Paramount undervalued their collections, overestimated their potential on their existing IP, and cut everything they could. They are in financial trouble and will probably be bought by Netflix.
I'll huff that copium.
Prodigy sucked. It, DIS, and seasons 1 and 2 of PIC are unwatchable.
Lower Decks, SNW, and PIC season 3 are the only good nuTreks.
too based
frick off rick
I just couldn't do the premise for S01 PIC and dropped it. Rando terrorism on Earth, Federation having typical human social bullshit problems, failing to prevent or perceive huge issues. Hey I'll just beam down and commit terrorist acts and stuff.
Wtf absolutely not the future TOS/TNG was talking about.
>Lower Decks, SNW, and PIC season 3 are the only good nuTreks.
Then how come they killed Paramount?
Reminder that ironic shilling is still shilling.
>has two years left
>still enough time for DISCO six seasons and a movie
Nothing lasts forever but schadenfreude lasts a long time
Such an odd episode
Doing the Lord's work, Data

not a fricking subreddit (general)
but we both know you can't think up a good OP
Just finished the first season of TNG but I want to check out some of the other Trek shows before moving onto S2. Which series has the hottest women and coomiest moments? And where do you guys go for Star Trek porn? Paheal?
>hottest women
TOS
>coomiest moments
Enterprise
>porn
I've actually never ventured into/trekpr0n/
>TOS
Second hottest then
I suppose that would be Voyager, Enterprise also has hot women but not enough. TOS has the most hotties in trek though.
Alright I'll watch some of Voyager then
Have some great fun anon with plenty of qts in the mix.
ENT is 2000s coomer era.
Well, TOS had a chick in it who went on to do porn. Used to sell autographed nudes of herself at conventions.
>actress does progressively more degrading things for money
tale as old as time
Angelique Pettyjohn could have been a big star and made cheeky sci-fi films like Barbarella.
Great. Now I want baked potatos.
TOS is coomer Trek
Women were still hot in the 1960s
Nearly every single TOS episode has the mysterious hot lady in a lewd outfit. It gets very trope when you realize it's the same thing every episode
>coomiest moments
Enterprise has the most coom-tier content, they went all in on the "sex sells, right?" train; pointy vulcan nipples, dangerously horny vulcan plotlines, naked vulcan ""decontamination"" backrubs, etc
How the frick did they get away with showing that outfit on 1960s TV
Roddenberry wanted orgies and shit, this stuff was probably pretty tame in comparison to the first ideas he pitched.
I can only guess he pulled every string he could to get things as lewd as possible. God bless that weird sex pervert.
From what I can remember it was something to do with the way they were told what they were or weren't allowed to show. Like execs said "no belly button" so they just worked around that.
like others have said, TOS had the hottest women, but aside from that, and if you want something in higher image quality, DS9.
DS9 has a bar on the ship that has "hostesses" who are basically like hooters gals/prostitutes meant to distract the customers so they don't realize how much they spend
>the hottest women
Strange New Worlds
>coomiest moments
DS9
Honestly, I don't know how they kept a straight face filming this series.
They have their share of bloopers, but they are thespians they know when to do drama and comedy at the drop of a hat.
It's been a long road
Gettin' from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near
I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
An' they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna change my mind
No they're not gonna hold me down
‘Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anything
I've got strength of the soul
An' no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith
I've got faith
Faith of the heart
I like Enterprise but I hate this song with a passion, no idea why
You'll have faith soon enough.
Faithless little b***h
Blessed anon.
worst theme of all the shows, hands down
rofl
you're a funny one, anon.
Which one is worse? Seriously.

Going from TOS to TMP must have been what star wars fans expected going into the sequels. Its incredible what 10 years of tech and a budget can do for a campy scifi show.
You did watch TAS, right?
Uh no, should I?
Did you enjoy TOS?
If yes, go watch it. Its just as campy and goofy as TOS.
If no, go watch it anyway.
I liked TOS a lot. Should I watch the whole thing or just a few of the good ones? I know there's a good Vulcan episode.
It's only 2 short seasons I believe, go watch em as you like.
TMP would have been so much better if they didn't drastically change the uniforms and make them so 70s influenced.
Tmp would be better if they didnt fixate on the ship so damn much and get the crew to actually do shit.
Yeah, not a fan of Kirk in the short sleeve white deck shirt. Looks like he's going yachting or something. And the weird gay belt buckle they're all wearing looks awful.
The belt was a an all in one health status etc sensor display. It was like a Texas belt buckle sized Fitbit. Good idea overall. Implementation with the pajama uniforms? Not so great.
TMP is great. It's not perfect by any means but it's my favorite Star Trek movie.
>It's not perfect
Do go on.
It is unnecessarily slow at times. I like the pace, but I can see how it would be off-putting. The reintroduction to the Enterprise comes to mind. Aside from that I love the movie.
Its production history is better than the movie itself. It makes Trek TOS movies after it look like b-movies.
Going through DS9 (simultaneously with Voyager) for the first time. Watched "The Visitor" tonight.
That may be the best episode of Star Trek I've seen yet (seen TOS, TAS, and TNG so far). Sincerely had tears in my eyes when I saw adult Nog and had to push back crying in those last scenes. Amazing episode.
Criminally underrated episode. Great taste anon, the episode for me was also sad I did cry as the themes in the show hit a bit too close to home for me.
I love DS9!
this is her now
muh muh missing father
sexoooooooooooo
She’d be legit hot in next gen if she had a better hairdo. Someone shop it to prove me right
She was never that great looking
Kira was much more attractive
Has Avery Brooks really been blackballed? That's the story the other DS9 actors tell but is he just crazy or what? I thought he was a great actor.
None of us are casting directors. I will say that it's hard enough to stay in the business, never mind if you're black and reportedly difficult to work with.
>Has Avery Brooks really been blackballed?
I mean the rest of him is so I assume so
SIR!
I'm guessing he's a lunatic and probably an unironic racist.
I'm actually still mad to this day about his bullshit of "They didn't treat our kind very well back then!"
butthole, the whole fricking point of Trek is that after a third world war, an atomic horror era, and a complete and total reshuffle of all societies on earth, you've all moved past that shit.
Especially the second those green-blooded knife ears showed up, HUMANITY FIRST!
>I'm guessing he's a lunatic and probably an unironic racist.
So you have no idea.
>I'm actually still mad
You didn't get it.
he's Louis Farrakhan levels of white hating
I didn't care for him in DS9 because his thinly veiled monkey rage ruined everything about the show
He overacts too theatrically.
>Has Avery Brooks really been blackballed?
It was painfully obvious he was a stage rather than screen actor with his over-emphasised vocal tones and actions, I'd hope he's doing a lot of work we're just not seeing.
I saw him in Othello in the mid-aughts. 2005 or 2006. Masterful in the role.
If you haven't watched Shatner interview Brooks in The Captains - you're in for a treat.
I'll have whatever he's on thanks.
they showed this on comet, he's lost what little of his mind was there
FWIW, I met him at like the only con he's been too and he seemed to be a fairly nice guy. Put him on Stage though and he turns into an avante garde performer. I watched him play Jazz piano at the "party" in a fricking empty hall of the Excel center. Marc Aliamo tapped me on the shoulder to get past so he could get into the crowd that was sitting down and sit down in front. It was a fricking bizarre evening.
> Marc Aliamo tapped me on the shoulder to get past
“Outta my way, little homie”
>death stares Shatner
>...
>"What happens when we die?"
>plays the piano while smiling manically
It's so uncomfortable
>see a related video with Nana Visitor and Gates McFadden
>"I wonder what Nana looks like now"
>still hot
>not bogged like Gates
Nice
Nerys is so sexy..
Kira is the best female character in trek history
Nana has said that mirror Kira is closer to her personality than normal Kira. Mommy dom?
I liked this episode. It was weird but it explored interesting ideas.
Whichever anon told me VOY had baddies... you're going to hell
Watched this episode tonight. Kino as hell. And it comes out of nowhere.
comet had their trek weekend, did anyone watch? just going by what they aired for commercials, they must've had shatner on skype for over a day. its been a while since i watched the early movies but they looked good, i loved the lighting.
TMP looks excellent. People pick on some of the costuming (I don't mind it) but it's otherwise aged extremely well. WOK isn't as impressive but it's still a solid looking movie.
It's robust.
What's this?
A free streaming thing?
its a free tv channel in the US, comettv.com, they do have a 'watch now' live stream thing on their site but its a channel most people would get with an antenna. mostly airs older stuff like stargate, farscape but this month they got a few of the original trek movies and have been airing the shit out of them
I left it on as background noise for the entire weekend because I get it on antenna
Choose life!
>One last job.
Why is TOS Season 2 so FRICKING kino? Amok Time was great, then it lulls for about 3-4 episodes, now the middle is incredible. Best episodes I've seen so far. I hope it continues with this energy through till the end.
There are no bad TOS episodes.
I didn't like Who Mourns for Adonis and The Alternative Factor. I'm half-way through Season 2, so that's a pretty good run. Season 2 is amazing
>I didn't like Who Mourns for Adonis
How the frick could you dislike that episode
How could you like it? I fricking hated it. It dragged on and I didn't like the plot.
>How could you like it?
Because I'm not moronic. I bet you're a millennial.
Relax, what's your attachment for that shitty episode? I just told you how much I love almost every other TOS episode except for that one.
I like season 1 more, but season 2 is great. TOS is my favorite Trek show.
Season 2 is probably my favourite as well, Amok time is awesome
To this day, that is my least favorite episode
I found it extremely boring
You two are gays.
It's not worse than "Cost of Living", the episode where Lwaxana and Alexander team up to make the audience miserable.
>filtered by a kino episode about joie de vivre in its purest form and the compromises we make and the lies we tell ourselves to justify them
THE HIGHER (your opinion of yourself)
THE FEWER (of your other opinions I care about)
That one is at least entertaining
Hows that star trek MMO? I've been meaning to play it with my wife but if it sucks or it's too imbalanced I'll probably skip it.
terrible, you're not missing much
if you want to get into it for the ships, just buy some small models, it's a better investment of time and money
I am finally watching Star Trek Beyond, it seems they toned down the lens flare, and the story seems to be high stakes. What do we think about the three 'new' movies?
>abrahms
Personally hated them, that homosexual hated or hates scifi and its plainly obvious.
If you like them, I'm happy for you just keep in mind the new films are far from what trek actually is.
I liked the third one because there is atleast a semblence of character dynamic between the members (most notably bones and spock). Other than that? It's really bad. Way too fast paced for something that's originally supposed to be about exploration.
I thought it sucked. The plot is stupid revenge bullshit with no substance whatsoever. If I had to pick a movie from JJ Trek I'd say Into Darkness. It still sucks, but I kind of liked Benedict as Khan. He was intimidating and smart. There was actually the bare bones of a moral conundrum and intrigue. Just a shame about every other element of the film.
Beyond is just goofy shenanigans for the whole movie with a cheesy ass CGI villain. As for the first JJ trek movie, I don't even remember what happened in it. Romulans or some shit? Completely forgettable.
Just started this show lads. I watched four episodes of TNG and loved it, but then I decided to just start with TOS and I like it even more.
Enjoy the trek anon, watch all the movies and watch up to Enterprise. You may keep going if you like but I strongly advise against it.
Thanks anon. I apparently skipped “The Cage” when starting TOS, so I’ve gone back to watch it. Interesting how much Shatner upgrades Kirk’s character
That's a different captain in the cage episode. That's captain Pike he will become relevant in later episodes.
Ok that explains things. Thanks.
Try to not forget the cage episode, it becomes relevant in a future episode I dont remember which. TOS overall is very comfy I think it's only 3 seasons long unless you count the animated series that adds 2 more seasons. Either way theres tons of really good episodes in trek, just have some fun.
I would only watch up to Voyager. You can tell that they're running out of ideas in Voyager and watching Enterprise will only leave a sour taste in your mouth.
Enterprise is just as fun as voyager. In fact voyager didnt even need 7 seasons it could have done well with 5, possibly 6 seasons.
Don't forget to watch TAS it is an upgraded version of TOS in all aspects (except the animation).Have fun and remember to drop by to share your thoughts!
I could do without his input to be honest.
Currently watching DS9 again.
Based
Never seen it and all people talk about is the george floyd trial that some how ended up being sone civil war or some shit.
Just how bad is Strange New Worlds
Can't speak for Season 2, but it's just okay. It really would have benefitted from a 20 episode season though, since the 10 episode format isn't great for plot of the week type stuff.
I've been watching all the old Treks on H&I lately and I still don't understand how we can go from those to the current day Marvel-esque stuff which people insist is still good.
The set and costume designs are damn good in STD, but it is written by mumblecore millenials.
They constantly write themselves into holes they cannot escape from. Not every story has to be about Mikey B. saving the galaxy once again.
>The set and costume designs are damn generic in STD
ftfy
I do not think this character is generic.
She is totally out of sorts in a prequel to TOS, but not generic.
This thing and the other robot lady who looks like Nebula are generic.

someone we thought would be an actual character back when std aired
how naive we were
>new crews. new villains. new heroes. new worlds. I guess we got a new crew at least.
remember when the ship was teased as a joint collaboration between klingons and the feds
I remember them talking about the ship being based on early designs for the Enterprise from the movies or something.
Yeah, it was a rejected concept for Planet of the Titans.
There's a reason why it was rejected, it's ugly af.
The nacelles sticking straight up from it's weird triangle ass looked even worse than what they ended up shitting out.
The Discovery itself is the ugliest main ship in a series; that tiny saucer on a giant pizza slice, the nacelles that are longer than the entire hull, and the shuttlebay that stays permanent open (do they not have a door?)
It's by far the worst, but the concept they built it from was somehow even worse still. How someone looked at that and thought "yeah, that'll be a good ship to relaunch the brand with" is beyond me. Though at least it didn't have the stupid saucer cutouts back then.
They use a force field like that face surgery guy on ds9 had in his room.
It has doors that are closed in its first episode.
>the nacelles that are longer than the entire hull
Nacelles are generally bigger than a lot of people remember in the 23rd century. The 24 century ones are kinda stubby and trapazoidal.
>They constantly write themselves into holes they cannot escape from.
Pretty sure most of the script is done by AI and the writers just add cheat codes for Michael Burnham.
>I still don't understand how we can go from those to the current day Marvel-esque stuff which people insist is still good.
It is good. To them. Tastes change over time. You were left behind.
Yeah, tastes change alright. We collectively lowered our standards.
Kinda lame, makes me not want to play it.
>Enterprise behind the scenes
>"we wanted something that was believably older than Kirk, we always tried to keep it low tech, we looked to NASA for inspiration on the jumpsuits, interiors, and computer monitors"
>Discovery/Strange New Worlds behind the scenes
>"we wanted to do an homage to the original series but updated for modern audiences"
Literally soul vs. soulless
Nutrek isn't just about making shitty star trek, it's about literally killing the fandom because we do not belong in their new order.
Turn of the right wing media, it is turning you into a crybaby seeking victim status. Is a for profit corporate entity really spending hundreds of millions of dollars just to pwn the chuds, or is it simply that they are bad at making Star Trek? Airam got very little backstory until the episode that killed her off.
You don't know what I've been through.
Are you kidding? I literally saw people posting screenshots of Ent episodes as they came out to complain about everything it did. I still remember some dude complaining endlessly about the communicator having a screen saying it was too advanced for Starfleet. LCD screens would not be invented for another few hundred years, according to him, apparently. Ignore the phone in your pocket please.
People in 2001 were quick to shit on ENT because they were bored by Voyager and other recent Berman Trek offerings. Many of the same people who hated ENT love nuTrek, so...
Neither ENT nor SNW look like they could come before TOS. ENT is a completely different aesthetic to basically all of Star Trek, looking more like future NASA than anything else (I get that it makes sense, just not really in the Trek universe where tech obviously evolved along a different path) and SNW looks too modern, shiny and sleek to be just before TOS.
It doesn't matter at the end of the day. TOS looked like shit because they had a budget of some paperclips and a piece of string. But ENT looked good, SNW looks like glossy soulless shit. That's what matters.
>the Trek universe where tech obviously evolved along a different path)
Computer, enhance by 20%.
>it's the TOS was low budget meme again
TOS was always threatened with cancellation because it was too expensive for too few viewership.
It was all the expensive tribunal tables.
ENT made a brave stand against the nutrek wave but they were too few.
Signs that you are about to consume content.
It was their way.
I am enjoying Star Trek Strange New Worlds
The spezz lawyer's receptionist was the best character in “Ad Astra per Aspera”.

name actress
Kimberly-Ann Truong played the Illyrian Assistant.
>show in 1989 did a much better "Trial" episode than in 1989+34
>both episodes were essentially about the same thing (racial prosecution), yet the trial itself had a larger emphasis on evidence and law rather than emotions (it is a trial afterall)
>the new episode also had an asspull "you win in court" law, while the old one had to fight for their stances and ideals
>the new episode also played somber music every two minutes someone was talking about "hardship"
What the actual frick happened? How did they screw it up this badly?
>>the new episode also had a "you win in court" law
rundown?
>the law clearly states that genetical modifications in all forms are illegal for supposedly good reasons
>the first officer is found out that she is genetically modified (she was born this way)
>she hid her heritage purposefully and now she faces charges for lying
>they try to win the court with emotions
>the entire episode is about getting their butts handed to them because the facts don't change because of tears
>the last minute, brave layerwoman brings out an old (but supposedly still valid) law book that pretty much says: If someone is prosecuted and they seek asylum, they can get it
>they win the case in the final 5 minutes of the episode
Which is ridiculous how fricking convinient it is and the vulcan prosecutor somehow missed this crucial law.
It's an old law, but it checks out.
The important thing is that you're still watching it.
Well I pirated it.
If that still counts then I do have to say that it's slowly making me give up on it entirely. Maybe I'll check out one more episode and if that also fails to meet my expectations then I'll just stop watching it like all other nu-Trek
>Maybe I'll check out one more episode
>Just one more, to see how it goes, you know?
It has a charm.
He didn't miss anything. She never asked for asylum, that's just how they're choosing to interpret her actions because they just want this to go away with the bonus of not actually having to change anything. They'll most likely tighten up that "loophole" now because we all know Starfleet keeps this shit illegal for another thousand+ years.
Jews. The episode starts off as a generic "Banning gays from military bad.", but then it shifts to "You have to let parents perform unnecessary medical procedures on their children who are too young to consent because it's their culture!".
When akiva goldsbergman thought that SNW took place before The Cage
/trek/ is vindicated.
After all these years, all our work. It finally paid off.
A friendly reminder this Thursday is another all new episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds:
SNW S02E03 Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow - La’An travels back in time to twenty-first-century Earth to prevent an attack which will alter humanity’s future history, and bring her face to face with her own contentious legacy.
Trailer:

What did they mean by this? Also, am I the only one, or did it sound like they were saying "Iron Burns" the entire episode instead of "Ion Burns"
I'm pretty sure The Discovery and its sister ship Glen were altered to better synergize with the Spore Drive. I think they said that a few times on Disco in the early seasons, when they were still working out how to make the Spore Drive work without a living core.
:/
I just want to say I love Nimoy so much, in all stages of his life, even if I would've met him at 80 I would've been overjoyed. Such a cool dude.

finally finished discovery
it was the last bit of live action trek I hadn't seen
Season 1 is completely unwatchable. Season 2 has a couple of interesting moments. Season 3 is improved enough to be comparable to the worst episodes of previous series.
Season 4's Saru subplot is kino, but otherwise it's just... boring.
I was genuinely expecting them to go back to their own time but it looks like the show is gonna end with them not.
Or it's gonna end with discovery going waaaaaaaay back in time and becoming the sphere itself.
The Zora subplot has got to be the dumbest running plot in Trek history
Why did you torture yourself like that?
>Or it's gonna end with discovery going waaaaaaaay back in time and becoming the sphere itself.
I will bet a small amount of money this is exactly what will happen.
Nah, that can't happen because they'll need everyone around to cameo in the Academy show.
I thought the Academy show wasn't happening because Paramount is failing because Mary Wiseman jacked up their craft services budget to the size of a small nation's GDP.
The Academy show is happening because you have the already paid for STD sets, but you tear up all the actor's contracts and replace them with teenagers you can pay peanuts.
>The Academy show is happening
no show is happening the strike wont end
>strike happens in the 80s
>tng has an ep about boring legal questions
>almost exactly 35 years later, there's another writers strike, and SNW has an ep about boring legal questions
Do they just keep a non-guild law writer on standby or something?
I've been saying we ran out of possible storylines for 10 years
>but you tear up all the actor's contracts and replace them with teenagers you can pay peanuts.
you can also pay mary wiseman in peanuts, by the barrel.
In case you hadn't figured i out, the academy show is gonna be Tilly training cadets in the future.
Cause I watched SNW without watching ANY of discovery and then I realized plots related to that
>and then I realized plots related to that
Oh no
I stopped watching STD on... season 3? Halfway through that I think.
Haven't tried SNW yet but I've heard a lot of good things, don't really want to drag myself through the rest of Discovery before starting SNW.
Oh, you're good. Once you finish s2 there's nothing relevant anymore.
I just didn't know that
i made it 3 eps and couldn't watch any more
Gen X here. Same. Watched three episodes, stopped. Just like S01 Picard. For DSC I just felt that - with all this new tech and ideas why not just go make your own universe and characters and etc. Mushrooms? Really? In my engine room?
>Gen X here
nobody cares, grandpa
>nobody cares, grandpa
Whatever. Nevermind.
Why thank you, young man. hahaha. Just setting context. Surprised you haven't filtered "Gen X" out of principle.
i only made it 1 ep into picard. the explosions and fighting while he barely moved just seemed so out of place. its to late now but i wish they had just done another time skip and used a new cast instead of this nostalgiabait shit. we could've gotten a new cast, new ships, new area or reason to explore. but no, here's fat data and wheel chair picard
Picard should've been 10 episodes with individual plots connected by a general theme that he's correcting all of his wrongs or maybe going on an archaelogical adventure, or something
Instead we got Romulan schizo terrorists, fat Data and MMHMM PRO TIP JAY EL
Hahaha. Yeah sorry I know couldn't help it.
And I was absolutely hard up for Airam - in a post-human / transhuman way I mean - and that did piss me off when I heard it.
They really should have gone back to some of the places Picard went to on the show. Like the two planets with one selling drugs to the other. Lower Decks showed the end results of that, when it should have been Picard confronting his actions.
>Lower Decks

I'm listening.
For what happened? The drug addict planet after a period of horrific withdrawal on the planet recovered and have a very nice civilisation. The drug seller planet got weakened, and the Breen took over.
Why couldn't they just keep selling drugs?
The drug sellers were morons who never learnt how to build starships.
The drug addicts were so high they forgot to take care of their starship's engines and they all exploded.
Presumably without a planet of addicts to sell to, they would have undergone some serious problems. I'm not sure they were exactly warp capable either, since the way Picard stopped them from exploiting the Ornarans by letting every Ornaran freighter stand unusable, so they probably couldn't peddle their drugs to anyone.
Yes. I wanted "All Good Things" and "Innter Light" and instead I got Muppet Babies or something. Marvel's _What If_ but it was What If people who didn't like Star Trek wrote Star Trek episodes.
You got all those actors to commit, and you... did this??
Considering PIC S03 as a standalone.
I remember Alex Kurtzman saying that Picard was going to be a more "quiet, personal" story about Jean-Luc going back and fixing his past mistakes, but they kinda blew that out of the water. I wonder what happened.
>Yes. I wanted "All Good Things" and "Innter Light" and instead I got Muppet Babies or something.
Ok that's cute.

>wait a fricking minute, I know this guy's voice
>the guy who plays Dr. Phlox from Enterprise is playing one of the main characters
>he's just a year or so off the set of ENT, so not only does he look similar, but he speaks with the exact same fricking voice and mannerisms as Phlox
>it's like I'm watching a really weird episode of Enterprise
Fricking Phlox ruined the whole movie.
>Fricking Phlox ruined the whole movie.
More like carried the movie
>the academy show is gonna be Tilly training cadets in the future.
I don't understand how this could possibly work when they're all from so far in the past, if anything at all she'd be way out of touch. It'd be like a steamboat captain trying to teach the electronic warefare to zoomers
oh, you didn't watch s4 of discovery
essentially, while the federation itself is far advanced, it's been isolated for so long they need someone who excels at getting different groups (species) to work together.
It's purely about training them how to be officers, not training them in the specifics.
Also she will likely be the only discovery person to stay there.
Tilly and Saru are the only 2 characters in all 4 seasons that fans consistently liked, which is why they want Tilly to be in the new show
>wah wah wah we ran out of storylines
look, here's the deal:
>Measure of a Man
we think you do not deserve rights because we do not believe you are sentient. You believe you deserve rights. This is an issue about the worth - one could say measure - of a man.
>the Illyrian episode
we do not believe you should be in starfleet because we are opposed to your very nature, since that nature very nearly destroyed us. You believe you should because you aren't like us where it matters and you are like us where it matters.
the key difference is the open hostility to illyrian nature. If Measure of a Man had taken place during the PIC synth arc, then yes the idea is recycled. There is a difference between "hey prove this thing is alive" - say, similar to TMP, and "hey prove why i shouldn't hate you" - similar to TUC.
If you don't get that then you don't get nuance and I suggest playing in traffic.
No, the big problem is that we saw EXACTLY how augments are treated by the federation in TOS.
And this is absolutely NOTHING like that, even though it takes place just a scant few years before.
The humans made jokes with spock about how they felt about the whole issue, and spock didn't understand.
His characterization here pretty much undermines everything from the Space Seed episode.
I will not deny that SNW is an attempt to stealthily retcon certain elements of TOS. You may care strongly about that or not. I personally am okay with it but understand if other anons do not. That's a matter of personal taste.
However, to say the idea is recycled shows a lack of nuance. As established in SNW, and TNG/DS9, the approach to augments extremely inimical. They are bad. They make bad happen. They should not be allowed to serve. Whereas the approach to dismantling data was more academic: they wanted to take him apart to see how he worked, and he feared it would kill him. There was no malice; Maddox and Data remained friends afterward and this friendship was the basis of Data's Day.
If anything, ad astra should be more similar to the Drumhead, but even then, the story was about Admiral Satie's paranoia more so than a reflexive institutional hatred of augments.
they addressed all of the same things with Worf in TNG, being the first Klingon in starfleet, after they had been at war with the klingons.
Then again on DS9 with Garak, being a cardassian (spy at that) and a lot of animosity towards him.
Then again on Voyager with Seven, being a borg.
Then again in Discovery, with Emperor Phillipa.
>they addressed all of the same things with Worf in TNG, being the first Klingon in starfleet, after they had been at war with the klingons.
I see the point you are trying to make, but they didn't. He was just there. There was no fight to get him into starfleet to serve.
>Then again on DS9 with Garak, being a cardassian (spy at that) and a lot of animosity towards him.
Quite the opposite. He was never brought in to serve. There was never a fight to get him on the team of the good guys. Rather, he was kept in the gray area to do the dirty deeds Starfleet would not do. It was a marriage of convenience and there was no one fighting for Garak to live the Federation way.
>Then again on Voyager with Seven, being a borg.
They explicitly de-borgified her as much as could be done and severed her connection to the Collective. Had Una's genetic enhancements been reversed, then the comparison is fair.
>Then again in Discovery, with Emperor Phillipa.
Have not seen it, but if that is the case then your point stands.
Reusing the same themes over and over is the point
Just because it's not implemented EXACTLY the same, it doesn't mean it's not a reuse.
Hell, voyager did it twice, the first time being with The Doctor, how they had to legitimately decide whether he fit in the command structure, whether he was property or not, and once he got his mobile emitter and gained autonomy, they had even bigger issues.
If you're exclusively talking about the "are they allowed in starfleet" issue, they straight up had to deal with anti-ferengi racism when nog tried to join.
SNW s2e3 is up early, but specifically only if you watch P+ through Amazon Prime.
Been out for hours already and no uploads. Guess I'm stuck waiting until the usual time.
I think the most recent episode of SNW, S02E02 specifically, had a horribly edited ending.
What sort of mouth-breathing sperg needs flashbacks from something that happened four minutes ago? Seriously. wtf.
lol, yeah, they just wanted to "show" instead of "tell" but of course, they were still just telling
SERIOUSLY! If I wanted hours of boring exposition I'd just watch Harry Potter.

IT’S OVER SHILLTRANNIES
STINO IS DEAD
LONG LIVE TREK
Imagine thinking anybody who buys Paramount will kill the milk cow. If Paramount is purchased, you'll get more noTrek, not less.
>dark edition
All of the twinks in starfleet rising up in Picard and killing our beloved now elderly characters from multiple series was pretty dark.
after dark edition
as in, at night
I'm druk and skimmed OP.
I have dishonoured the thread.
I suggest a full spread of Photon Torpedoes directly on my location.
It's ok anon I have the ceremonial blade the klingons use when doing an assisted suicide. Shhhhhhhh it's all ogre now.
anti-ferengism
Rule of Acquisition 2023: A troony does it for free
She has such a nice thicc ass.
I mean they/them has a nice thicc ass.
Progress, not perfection.
Blu del Barrio has a nice thicc ass, if alternate pronouns trouble you.
all star trek is gay
and so are you all
The old shows aren't gay. Only the new ones are.
oh anon
any trek is trek
you can't go half gay
you get gay retroactively
So SNW S2E3 came out early on Amazon. Any rip link or torrent out?
nobody cares aboot it
I have only seen the pilot, but think it's the best live action nuTrek so far...
turd with whip cream
Finally. I waited last night and no one made a trek thread.
I wanted to make one but I was scared of getting criticized.
i sometimes make a general for another topic on /vg/
No matter what you say here someone will always tell you that you are wrong or post something negative. You just learn to ignore them and don't feed them (yous).
>No matter what you say here someone will always tell you that you are wrong or post something negative.
Incorrect, moron troony pedo schizo shill..
Thanks anon. I try not to let it get to me but some of the people here can be downright mean-spirited.
I made one at around 2200 CST last night. Slow start but here we are.
Never be afraid fren, if you see an opportunity take it. At the very least you'll have the trekpu Enterprise theme song or the dubsminion posters as frens.
>watching angel one episode
>picard says its a planet ruled by women
>think to myself riker is going to have sex with them I just know it
>picard sends riker with the away team
>riker has sex with the aliens to "foster diplomatic relations
fricking knew it.
YWNBR
Why even live
It's not fair. I wish I was above 6 foot and easily had sex with women. I hate him because of this. Spock and Data have the better looks and personality, Riker only has the height and an ok face. I will never understand females fully.
>I will never understand females fully.
You might have a chance if you called them "women" and not "females."
The ferengi always make a big deal about women being clothed, but I have never seen a ferengi women yet (only watched all of tng) and just did a quick google search of "ferengi females" and didn't see any first page
All I know is the ear touching is like jerking off to them.
You'll see a naked female ferengi in Deep Kino 9.
Cool it down Barclay, go cool off in the holodeck or something.
>Spock and Data have the better looks and personality, Riker only has the height and an ok face.
Data has less personality than Riker.
Data:
>has a cat
>plays violin, without SOVL
>I guess dreams toward the end of the series and paints birds?
>in short : Pinocchio
Riker:
>loves jazz and a good time
>fancies himself a gourmet, although his cooking skills are underwhelming
>willing to get risky with Klingon women, food, gagh, fat four-armed organists at garbage depots
>always quick with a joke unless it's time to be serious
>loves his family, but resents his dad
>in short: jovial, affable, a sensualist
You are so full of shit, your eyes are brown.
Soren had to go to the hospital after.
>willing to get risky with Klingon women
I actually respect him for this. He could have been low test and repulsed by their advances, but he flirted back.
>angel
I love captain angel too
actually the aliens have sex with riker
>Fill out which Captain are you survey.
>Get Lorca.
>mfw.
Lorca was fun 2bh.
OP here
Thanks frens for a very nice thread, we kept the shit flinging at a minimum and I will see you fellas in the next coming up threads.
I love you
