What is it with right wing movie fans and only engaging with liberal goyslop they know they'll hate
    >you need to talk about Barbie because it's so profitable
Yet he has multiple videos about Velma which was a complete failure, and in fact the most common theme of his videos is covering 'woke' films that underperformed
/tv/'s favorite rn seems to be Critical Drinker and he's another guy who by all indication only watches big ticket 80s franchise movies.
The Barbie movie makes a joke about dudebros who love The Godfather but I'm unconvinced the guys in this sphere of youtube have ever seen a Coppola. They'd have to seek it out instead of sitting down and whinging (but not closing their mouths) as studio slop is fed to them.

because it made a billion dollars. When a movie is that big everyone is expected to have an opinion about it.

Do you just see green text and stop reading? I already directly addressed your post in my own. My observation is not about the individual review, but the pattern of behavior. Eg everyone is not expected to have a Velma opinion because nobody watched it. Yet he has multiple videos on it.

I haven't read too deeply into this Barbie controversy but can someone tell me honestly if the politics/rhetoric in the film is really as insane as it sounds?

Yes, which some more charitable viewers have interpreted as the movie coming all the way back around and making it a great illustration of why feminism sucks, kind of like how the Starship Troopers movie is meant to be a teardown of Robert Heinlein's politics but ends up accidentally making them look good.

Given that the movie is made by a silver spoon coastal elite director whose frame of reference for "inequality" is how many female CEOs and billionaires there are, I don't think this was meant to be an ironic / satirical movie. I think it's a women logic movie, and the strawman male of Ken ends up being a glass of water in the desert because he's the only character who's able to call the Barbies out for their doublethink and cruelty, and they actually agree with him until Stereotypical barbie has a reactionary counter revolution and uses literal feminist brainwashing to get all the other Barbies on her side.

        >interpreted as the movie coming all the way back around and making it a great illustration of why feminism sucks
Makes me wonder if it was written as such in order to have some plausible deniability. Let's say it WAS intentional... they know full well that the target audience will not interpret it in that way. It's going to be very surface level for them, which is the exact message they aim to push. BUT if cornered, they could fall back on "nooo you just misinterpreted it!"

These reviews use the word Woke so much for everything they don't like that the word has lost its meaning in the same way the Media uses Nazi for the same purpose.

For you to complain about the way Patriarchy was approached in the Barbie movie is the same thing as complaining that in Zoolander it was poorly represented the Fashion Industry and people who can't turn left

I'm being forced to support this movie because on the other side is Pier Morgan having a stroke and Ben Shapiro with his doodle pad of circumcised dicks

    Frick that shit

Patriarchy isn't real, at least not in the west. If it was then the construction workers who are building the high-rise apartments for girl bosses to live in wouldn't be constantly demonized by them.

There are several movies that have been written in a terrible way, basically undermining male characters to make the new female one look good (which is a actually pretty sexist if you think about it). The new Star Wars is a blatant example, plus all the other writing stupidity on top of that.

These people are crying wolf with this movie. They are not only fundamentally misunderstanding specific parts of a movie that is actually quite open toward men (a specific preachy scene could be avoided, but that's it) but they are undermining past and future criticism toward actual garbage like the nu-SW.

I suspect they are doing this because the movie jabs at redpillers and grifters so they feel attacked.

"Women inherently suck, to make them look good, we have to make MEN suck harder".
Same thing with that harridan that wrote The Witcher saying the half-indian lady is basically ugly because she is not white.

I love how your cope is "nooo, people will take the opposite message from this!" when outside you and your friends the vast majority of people agree with the movie's intended message and got it perfectly.

Anon, that's not the point of my post.
I just still believe in nuance, which is almost lost.
Barbie is nuanced on the topic, and written by people with conviction. Nu-SW or the Witcher are written by people that are only performative and lose their mask quite easily, see the Witcher's writer.

The right-wing grifters also are unmasked by this movie because they show an absolute inability to pick up something more complex than blatant idiotic stuff like the new SW (which even "woke" people hate most times, you can remember a whole spectrum of reactions to RoS when it came out).
