There needs to be another comic collapse to clear the refuse and make way for a healthier American comics industry with variety and quality.
Lucifer is far better than Sandman.
Hellblazer should've ended at issue 250
Spurrier's Hellblazer is the best series since Carey and arguably better than Carey's run
Mike Carey's Lucifer or we are talking tv shows
No hedhogs gods not caring
MC's Lucifer. The show was decent popcorn flick, but the worst adaptation I've ever seen.
We're actually in the beginnings in an animation golden age and historians will point at the 2010s being the starting point of this golden age.
Avatar the last air bender is just a shit series.
I hate female characters
I hate women in general, but 2d is allright
Homestuck is one of the big reasons multiverse stuff has become prominent in the last years
The indie comic scene is going to explode once someone realizes how to actually make niche catering anthologies.
Oh god you're right, is there nothing on this earth hussie didnt rape by fricking up homestuck.
Amen
I am frothing at the mouth waiting for the day ai turns animating and cartooning from sweatshop labor to slightly less sweaty sweatshop labor. It's gonna be GLORIOUS.
Trips of truth
Adding on to that, IP's should either be held by the individual's that made it or public domain, no in between. It would basically work the same as it does now anyway, since the modern pantheon of hereos has such a strong cultural background. Its not like every 5 year old looking up spider man elsa isnt going to see them doing most abhorrent shit on earth anyway, why not role with it.
Go back to hot topic, and get me some antie annes pretzels while you're over there
Everyone that uses this board should have their heads smashed in
Once an IP switches hands to another author it becomes noncanonical and it should be illegal to profit off that person's legacy. Full-stop.
No more superheroes.
No more "universes" oligarchies.
Adaptations are okay but they have to be done with consent of the original author.
>No more superheroes
I mean transgenerational superheroes. Batman and his family have been the same since the Animated Series. It's time to realize that this idea is a cancer to creativity.
>it should be illegal to profit off that person's legacy.
You want to abolish public domain then?
disney never stops their shit
Even public domain is a crutch to creativity once money gets involved.
Only ones who should profit off the IP are who own it. But they can't create new material to profit thereby perverting (i.e. twisting) the meaning of the original work. If they have something to say to the world they should get it out there by their own hands.
Continuing... otherwise it can be argued what Satoru Iwata once said, that by measure of how big the IP is the license to keep it going. This is a form of "kicking up" and nepotism. The "X person dropped money on something back in the day and now the world is their public bank."
I respectfully disagree. Even if someone tells a story with characters that is antithetical to the original story that the characters were in, the vision is still in the original, and maybe some people prefer the new story. If the pantheon of roman gods was as heavily monitered and censored as spider man as far as additions and stories and narratives, it would probably suck a lot more. Frick the big two, dont get me wrong, but taking the power away from them to frick up good stuff seems a whole lot harder than giving other people more power to make more good stuff.
An artist's vision is always changing bit by bit anyway, to the point that some authors look back at their own work a decade later and feel like it was written by a stranger. Is it really so wrong to allow other people to write what they see in characters created by others?
>If the pantheon of roman gods was as heavily monitored and censored as spider man
The Romans don't have gods. They were atheists who just stole the Greek gods and slapped new names on them for commercial, i.e. artificial culture-selling, purposes (IIRC).
>An artist's vision is always changing bit by bit anyway, to the point that some authors look back at their own work a decade later
Probably because of the same cancer that's encouraging them to denigrate their early work through looking back at it via an overton window that doesn't fit its contemporary release. Speaking of Romans, as in the Book of, artists get given over to reprobate minds when they sin, too. They can become senile just like someone who isn't one.
>Is it really so wrong to allow other people to write what they see in characters created by others?
Imo, it is if money is involved. None of the things you think can co-exist, do once lucre is precedent over creativity. Humans are soul machines, but still machines.
>The Romans don't have gods. They were atheists who just stole the Greek gods and slapped new names on them for commercial, i.e. artificial culture-selling, purposes (IIRC).
That's deeply untrue the Romans were very superstitious and religious. They held their Gods in great reverence and believed in the importance of symbolism.
Invader Zim was the best looking cartoon of all time.
Not controversial, that's a fact. To think in 20 years nothing came close.
Cartoons should only appeal to the male gaze and male gaze only, be it straight or gay.
Females only turn fictional drawings into shit because 2D gets more attention than them and should never be granted a say on cartoon aesthetics.
Regular Show is better than Adventure Time
Would've been slightly debatable for the first seasons of AT, but definitely true now.
Outside of 1 episode I did not enjoy boondocks season 4
I'm guessing you enjoyed the Breaking Bad parody?
Actually it's Freedom Ride or Die. I just found the portrayal of pacifism no matter what hilarious.
>Robert! We're supposed to be non-violent.
>Mmmm Mmmm
Selina Kyle is better as a black lady.
Comics used to be more political. Was reading old C-list DC comics and Gorbachev was in surprisingly many of them.
Modern "political" stuff is still shitty, but it has more to do with tumblr OC culture melding with big-two comics than any actual desire to reflect the world.
Cinemaphile has no better taste than the Disney Moms and Soiboys they mock, they just cover it up in irony and hype. Cartoons are generally lame now. Sturgeon's law prevails although nowadays it seems the budget for animation is tighter than ever so to cut corners everything looks pretty much the same. Look for indie projects if you want to see anything inspirational. Because that slop you keep pushing on page 1 ain't impressive no matter how much you want to frick the characters.
What are some examples of "slop?"
>actually thinks the hype isnt astroturfed fecal matter covering the rare good discussions
I shiggy diggy
I liked super heroes better as normal guy juggling high school and fighting crime while preserving his identity and coping with the loneliness and solitude that come with being a hero,
Also I roll my eyes anytime somebody tries to bring up Star Wars Canon made after 2012 it's all fan fiction
The Hellraiser comics were boring as frick.
