The Ninth of November, 2001, vs the sinking of The Titanic. You can magic up GoPro footage from the POV of every person involved from one of the two. Which are you picking?
Probably Titanic because it would be fascinating seeing GoPro footage of an event from a century ago, but then again knowing what exactly happened on 9/11 would also be fascinating.
Still going with Titanic but tough choice.
Titanic easily because there is nothing. There’s probably so much that historians got wrong/survivors remembered incorrectly. The fact that only a few survivors said explicitly that the ship broke up is testament to that
>over a hundred firefighters died on the 19th floor of the South Tower because they didn't share the same frequency as the police who realized that the tower was beginning to fall apart
The more you read about 9/11 the more you realize people give Mo Atta and his crew too much credit.
We have the benefit of hindsight, but they didn't realize that 15 minutes later another plane was coming right at the South Tower. Had the second plane never been hijacked, the South Tower would have the safest place to be because it was raining fire and metal in the plaza and streets.
Pentagon attack footage, the only footage we have is from some shitty security camera stills.
Also footage from inside the towers during the attacks but I imagine everyone was too panicked inside to get any.
>Also footage from inside the towers during the attacks but I imagine everyone was too panicked inside to get any.
The best they could do was evacuation footage via Casio pocket pc.

True, but this entire hunt happened because some anon said he saw footage of bodies hitting the base of the North Tower. This recording
Hey guys, they found the video which might actually be the LOL SUPERMAN video
is pretty much Lol Superman 6 years prior to 9/11. A cameraman catching a jumper turn into paste without a hundred feet between them would be up there with the Neudet tapes.
I could imagine Americans self censoring and even deleting their footage if they took any in the atmosphere that followed the attacks. This was before a time when every kid had a camera with them at all times, so it would have been responsible adults who got the shots.
So I have a bit of an autistic obsession with studying 9/11,
>Jules Naudet's entire footage in HD >Whatever footage this guy in the window managed to capture https://youtu.be/83E5w_ZexGQ?si=0gkUeI3AdVdogAy6&t=642 >The photos of the jumpers from inside the impact zone the FBI got ahold of >The supposedly real lol superman video of the plaza where the jumpers landed that FBI also got ahold of which is apparently in use for an ongoing trial for one of the Al Qaeda people
sums it up pretty good. A little more on the second thing he mentions- it's speculated the man in one of the left side windows is holding a camcorder. Common sense would make you think there would be no surviving remnants of it in the collapse, but as his third point says, the FBI is confirmed to have acquired at least some photos from the inside, so it's not implausible.
Frankly I think I'm fine with the superman video never surfacing, it's just such a grim concept and wouldn't likely shed any light on any mysteries.
Here are some more grails considered possible to exist or confirmed but lost: >Footage of the first impact: Many NY media outlets had cameras pointed at the towers, supposedly their cameras always were running but it's debatable if they were recording at the time of impact. >Lobby Footage: As far as I know, no footage of the lobby at time of impact exists or is available to the public, but CCTV was almost certainly running then. When the planes impacted, fireballs shot out of the elevators into the lobby. Like superman this is not something I'm sure I'd want to see as you'd likely be seeing people burnt to death at extreme heats. >There was a man who actually scaled down about 20 stories of the outside edges of the north tower, starting from above the impact zone. If any more footage of him exists, I'd like to see it. You can find some but he's hard to spot and disappears eventually. >The black boxes: If I recall correctly, none were recovered. >Confirmation of how high the firefighters got: It's speculated that by time of the collapse, firefighters had reached the impact zone of the north tower, this seems especially since we at least have confirmation the firefighters who went into the south tower first made it to that impact zone in a shorter time frame, albeit it was lower. Confirmation could exist, but I'm not sure. Either way they were all grade A heroes.
>There was a man who actually scaled down about 20 stories of the outside edges of the north tower, starting from above the impact zone. If any more footage of him exists, I'd like to see it. You can find some but he's hard to spot and disappears eventually.
This is the most incredible one imo. If only the dude survived, he'd have one hell of a story to tell.
why has nobody done a plot twist yet where the camera pans to the NYC skyline to show the towers to be still standing revealing that the work was set in an alternate timeline the whole time?
Holy shit the colors and lighting here look beautiful. I always found it amusing how when under construction the towers looked like unwrapped chocolate coated waffles.
They should have just been rebuilt. Let the country heal, but no they WANT to have a scar to b***h about, to have a definitive mark in all of their media reminding the whole country that there was a time BEFORE 911 and that they live in the time AFTER 911.

How did they all foreshadow it bros?
Did anyone else but me like the WTC? They were not great architecture, I admit. But going up 110 stories with no setbacks and a mostly column free interior is brute force engineering. Each floor was almost an acre in size. Their structural system is a huge departure from other supertall skyscrapers of the era like the Sears Tower and John Hanwiener Building.
I liked them a lot from an engineering perspective despite the annoying low ceilings and asbestos in the floor and ceiling tiles. The lobby was magnificent, I love the bright white aluminum cladding and marble. >They were not great architecture
Debatable. Aesthetically they may have been on the minimalist side (people joked about them being the boxes the towers came in) but I always found an elegance to their simplicity even if on a macro scale it didn't necessarily match the art deco of NYC.
And besides, how often do you get to see two massive 110 story towers standing right next to each other like that and have them be fully spaced and functional buildings? Would wager if it wasn't for the asbestos and some of the jank courtesy of outdated building codes it wouldn't have been such a headache for the Port Authority to renovate or maintain even if they might have been somewhat representative of the old mid-century American futurism.
Yea, israelites would make a terrorist attack in the city filled with israelites!
Make total sense!
And also frick the risk of getting caught!
Totally not the job of arabs who literally claim they did it as a war against the US because the later defend Israel (which is based according to pol!)
Like any office block, floors were rented out to various companies. For the WTC in particular it was mostly financial/banking firms and legal offices with a few restaurants (mainly intended for the people working there).
The whole world financial center complex of which the twin towers were a part was built with public money to revitalize lower Manhattan after container shipping came along. Manhattan was too small for the cranes and storage lots needed so they moved the port facilities to new Jersey leaving lower Manhattan in decline. The state built the towers to provide an iconic anchor and attract financial business to the area. Most of the docks were removed and landfill was used to create more land for office buildings.
They should have rebuilt the towers and make them taller as frick you. Too bad, realtors destroyed that dream by buying most of the land around the WTC.
Why would they? They were advanced designs in 1971 but in the 21st century they were kinda dated. Plus, the mid-century brutalist design wasn't very fashionable anymore. The new One WTC built a block over is larger and more efficient.
Mid century typically means 1940s-1960s. The WTC was designed in the 1960s and construction began in 1966. It just barely skirts through. And it looks brutalist to me. The designer deliberately gave it small windows because he had a fear of heights.
They had just been completed that year, it might be one of the first films to feature them.
You can also briefly see them in Taxi Driver, I feel like Scorsese was deliberately trying to cover them up though, it would've been easy to frame them and make the shot look showy. Maybe he didn't like them, being a native of the original skyline for so long.
We really ought to have began an extermination campaign of all Muslims in the middle east for 9/11. No woman or child left. From Morocco to Pakistan, total ethnic cleansing. Culmination of some 1500 years of holy wars between Christianity and Islam, we've tolerated their nonsense long enough.
It's 2001 and its 9:10 AM, you have a camera and you're across the street from the Tobin Plaza. Are your balls big enough to dodge the police and shrapnel to sneak into the plaza to record jumpers?

Mumbai by a far shot
Tokyo. NYC has to share importance with Los Angeles and Washington, where as Kyoto doesn't even compare
It's a tossup between New York, London, Tokyo and China
This is my metric
Paris is number 1 btw Bangkok is temporarily number 1 because most of the world is a chink or pajeet and its literally in-between

Funnily enough, the whole search started from Cinemaphile, I think it was from /x/ or /b/ back in 2015.

>aunt tells everyone about how she almost had a meeting in the World Trade Center the day of 9/11 and that's why we needed to invade Iraq story again
"when are you going to come down"
what did elton john mean by this ?
So what did the towers even do? Was it just a huge stack of for rent offices and meeting halls and shit like that?
Shopping malls, hotels, offices from major financial firms to US secret service, stuff like that.
If you stopped at shopping malls and hotels I would have believed you lol
Why the frick don’t you believe offices and government offices are in skyscrapers?
Think about it.
Aka "i watched videos that convinced me it was a hoax many years ago but cant remember their points"
What? No, that's not what I meant.

Why didn't they just build it again?
Nobody would want to go in it, they're death traps if something explodes in the middle of the building.
Why would they? They were advanced designs in 1971 but in the 21st century they were kinda dated. Plus, the mid-century brutalist design wasn't very fashionable anymore. The new One WTC built a block over is larger and more efficient.
>lose 2 towers
>replace it with 1
American's BTFO by arabs
I hate big cities.
OneWTC is ugly as frick
The WTC wasn't mid-century nor brutalist
Mid century typically means 1940s-1960s. The WTC was designed in the 1960s and construction began in 1966. It just barely skirts through. And it looks brutalist to me. The designer deliberately gave it small windows because he had a fear of heights.
It was built in the modernist style. Not everything built in the middle of the century was "mid century" nor was every plain building "brutalist"
Modernism is mid century.
You're free to try and define brutalism in your own words, though
>Modernism is mid century.

reminder: asbestos was all the rage in 1971 when the twin towers were built.

Yeah because it had been a wonder material in construction for decades by then
I like how the Sopranos does it.
>shows up in the opening sequence pre-9/11, then disappears after
Kino.
Serpico. It shows up in the background.
>Taxi Driver
I have to rewatch that, that scene is really good.
Godspell (1973). Shot atop the almost-completed tower.
I don't see why not, Jack Taliercio and the other dude with him managed to slip by into the plaza just fine.
No, I don't want to see that
