She was great under Byrne and Gerber (and then Byrne again). Modern artists like bartel and the homosexuals doing the interiors on this book (or pulido who may or may not be completely blind) refuse to draw conventionally attractive women. Meanwhile the writers keep trying to make her more of a lawyer than a superhero which NOBODY FRICKING WANTS and refuse to write her into cute little scenarios in which she can wear bikinis and underwear while fighting z-listers (actually fighting now just arguing with or deadpanning while avoiding a fight) in crazy places like space or inside the television. Basically modern writers think “fun” is being as boring, topical and miserable as possible while the artists trace overweight chicks and tren abusing mannish women because of that one “body of olympians” picture they all use to justify her not just being a green 7 foot tall Victoria secret model with a bit more tone.

Also rainbow Rowell in particular sucks because she’s writing her as a comic for women and Jen has always been a female character tailored toward young men.

Side note I never watched Deadwood cause it was cancelled and I was worried for a, pun intentional, dead end but I heard the movie makes it worth it. Have o been misled or do I have a solid weekend on my hands if I binge it?

I've always found hatereading to be a massive waste of time. There's so much to read as it is.
Deadwood is not for everyone. It takes a different approach to dialogue, essentially combining Shakespeare and modern-day expletives with a Western. I binged the show and loved it. I haven't watched the Deadwood movie and don't know if I ever will.

There’s not enough new media worthy of praise to consume so hate watching/hatereading is what replaces it. Most of everything is pretty dreadful these days.

I watch plenty of new wave French films and read plenty of books twice my age but I’m not going to immerse myself in days past just to avoid “wasting time”. Even “worthwhile” media is just a pastime after all, a cute phrase for time-waster.

                >I said if what you mean by "conventionally attractive" was big breasts and a pretty face, sure
Byrne’s was more than this so idk why you’re claiming I can’t read. Outside of being 7 feet tall no artist other than Pulido drew baseline She-Hulk as ugly. And he drew her as like 5’6”. Byrne’s in particular was stunning. And not just because of “le breasts!”

You’re claiming she “isn’t” conventionally attractive when until this current run she always was.

I know it was the 80s, but if you think there's no proportion playing going on with those shoulders, you're blind.

I genuinely don't get how you can post this page, which shows Jen in isolation with no shorter people or tiny furniture or anything next to her, and say without irony that Byrne only scaled a normal woman up when drawing Jen and didn't play use anatomy to convey her size or strength. You're blatantly wrong.

Yes, it's more extreme now, but that's not a bad thing just because it's not to your taste and it's merely an extension of what came before, as you've plainly shown here.

      >refuse to draw conventionally attractive women
Counterpoint: She-Hulk is not a "conventionally" attractive woman, she should have a freakishly huge Amazonian physique.

Unless what you meant was booba and pretty face, in which case sure.

I hate that modern artists do this. They don’t have any life experience of their own so they just base everything they draw on Instagram/tick tok influencers.

That was a retcon in the 2000's.
      Jen was always pretty.
For some reason Slott wanted to infuse the character with ick.

      Anonymous

Meh not really. It was something Slott did more than anyone before. Jen in Savage and the original Sensational run was relatively attractive. She-Hulk was a smoke show. By the time Byrne launched sensational she simply couldn’t change back to Jen and needed a wish from Santa to do so for Christmas one year.

Slott turned her into a femcel who needed to use she-hulk to attract men into sex they all shamed her for because he’s a fat incel

Slott is pretty garbage. It’s why him praising the show and them basing much of it on his run was telling. It was never made for or by people who actually like the character.

Those were, unironically, completely seriously, likely shills. Could have been Slott himself. They’d re-released his run around the time the show was announced and so they were pushing for sales on it.

Nah, that was always the worst parts of his run. Even those that like it prefer the superheroics like the wolverine/she-hulk fastball special.

Superhuman law is the dumbest concept in the world and Jen being a courtroom is such a waste of the character.
