I think SRW has had this problem A LOT since post-Z1 or so.

The vast majority of OG characters are pretty boring or forgettable unless they happen to suit your tastes, yeah.
I think it’s gotten worse since Z1, but yeah most of the most iconic originals come from that early era.
The Z cast bar Hibiki is really good though.
Setsuko and Rand are GREAT originals, Asakim is based. The rest are pretty forgettable imo.
