Anon, there's an entire tabletop RPG based on the franchise. People get together in groups to roleplay this.

      >Fanny and Alexander

Eh, not sure how obscure it is. It did win 4 Oscar’s (also should have won Best Director and/or screenplay)

My favorite films never get discussed here and it makes me feel lonely. They aren't even obscure it's just that people here only talk about the latest slop and the stuff you see in "best movies of all time" lists.

This was pretty gud for a low budget horror film. Very atmospheric and spoopy. I recommend it to anybody that likes the old late-night horror films.

By engaging in this thread you reduce your love for a film to it fitting in a specific arbitrary category. We won't agree on the terms and this dilemma prevents us from discussing any actual film for yet another moment.

Really though how do you discuss less popular movies? Do I need to get friends and watch with them? I made a post on moviechat months ago and still got no answer. It's kinda crazy to me how many of these well rated movies with Hollywood stars there are that rarely get talked about.

      Either
      A) write an essay on it. Read other essays.
      B) Talk in real-time real life with friends. Maybe even during the movie. You need quality friends though for this to work, they only need one specific quality so it might be quite easy to find them depending on your area.

Persona is not obscure. But to answer your question
      >Mikey & Nicky
      >Savage Messiah
      >Insignificance
      >Altered States
      and for television
      >Lodge 49
      >That Dirty Black Bag

    The Last Wave

I think Lunch Time at Suspended Stone was a better film.

I like them both a lot, and you are probably right that Picnic is technically better and it's definitely better shot. But Last Wave is more obscure and I really love that its about a man disenfranchised by the constraits of modern society who finds meaning in a semi-regressive spiritual quest, finding himself as a modern messiah powerless to stop his vision from coming true. Very old testamant / oracle of delphi. I'm also a sucker for "modern prophet" narratives about men coming up against unknowable forces and trying to find meaning it like The Leftovers, Take Shelter and Outer Range.

Hmm... I agree with that interpretation. There are many ways to look at Wave, but I think you nailed it.
