It wasn't just right time, right place, but just how simple of an answer and ubiquitous flash was. Wanted to do art? Flash was a pretty good drawing tool. Wanted to animate? Flash. Wanted to make games? Flash. Wanted to make a website? Flash. 3D? Flash has some add-ons.
Every question you could ask was practically answered with flash. Want to do animation now? Maybe you'll get a hundred answers: blender, opentoonz, clip studio, photoshop, animate, rive, krita etc. The indecision will stop the person from even trying, and that's just animation.
What about game making? Programming? Site building? Art?
I'll never forgive Adobe for being so incompetent and ruining flash. Their complacency killed it.

I've tried some games for Miniclip and Madness Interactive and none of them work because they need to make a call to a certain site.
I've been using that for .swf files I've downloaded over the years. It keeps nagging every once in a while about Flash being obsolete and asking me to uninstall it. Haven't figured out if there's a way to permanently disable those warnings.

The people involved seemed to have lost interest and want to put it behind them. Even when they were working on the arfenhouse movies they gave the impression they didn't care much for their fans. I don't think they have any online presence at all.

I've tried some games for Miniclip and Madness Interactive and none of them work because they need to make a call to a certain site.
I've been using that for .swf files I've downloaded over the years. It keeps nagging every once in a while about Flash being obsolete and asking me to uninstall it. Haven't figured out if there's a way to permanently disable those warnings.
That was one of the first Flash animations I saw too. But not the very first one; I think the first one was probably Badger Badger or Weebl & Bob.
It's kinda fricked they should have just given it a final security fix or something, so much is lost forever.
