Some Judd Apatow (produced) films are funny like Forgetting Sarah Marshall (which only has Jonah in a self-deprecating minor role and doesn't have Seth Rogen at all coincidentally)

I saw him live, I will say he's very good at improv and interacting with the audience. Over half the show was him riffing on people and local stuff he saw in the town paper. I don't think that comes through on the tv specials.

from a structural perspective it is a really good practice to ban all the cliche things writers do when they are out of ideas.

          Anonymous

Thank God. For whatever reason quoting Holy Grail at length infected entire subcultures. When I was a boy scout in the 2000s, I met multiple kids who could quote the entire movie beginning to end, and they would just recite it to each other without even cracking a smile. It wasn't even comedy for them anymore; it was just some bizarre ritual to make up for their lack of humor in everything else. Why they picked this movie in particular God only knows. A lot of Monty Python humor is visual anyway so it was an otherworldly level of cringe to be stuck listening to them recite it when most of the jokes wouldn't even land if they were delivered well. Bizarre phenomenon
