No. You only think that version is good because it's less popular and you want to be a contrarian so you seem cultured. Even Lynch hates it.

The imagery was stark and monastic to reflect the themes of the story. It’s not really that complicated

        Anonymous

Yeah because when you’re in sole control of the most valuable substance in the galaxy, ‘stark and monastic’ is the way to go.
        >I’m fabulously wealthy, better live in a bare concrete cubicle
It’s as stupid as watering trees in the middle of the day so a significant portion of the water evaporates, or having multiracial deep-desert Fremen when they have been interbreeding without external genes for millennia. Ridiculous aesthetic choices that clash jarringly with the actual settings and themes of the books and movies.

Let’s compare the gom jabbar scene
    >Lynch
Jessica is worried but uses her training to hide it.
Paul is defiant and strong enough to resist Mohiam’s Voice to a significant degree.
It’s clear that everything Paul is feeling, Mohiam is feeling as well, and despite her desperate desire to kill him, she breaks before he does h this makes sense, if you’re going to yardstick someone as fit to join the ranks of the Bene Gesserit, or in Paul’s case, at least know enough of their training to match a Reverend Mother).
    >Villeneuve Dune
    Jessica is a whimpering mess.
Paul is completely unable to resist Mohiam’s Voice.
Mohiam isn’t suffering with Paul, meaning there is no ‘limit’ to the test and she could just have kept cranking up the pain to force him to fail.

Remember that the Bene Gesserit were pissed off that Paul was conceived and wanted a daughter that could be bred with Feyd Rautha to bring about the Kwisatz Haderach. They wanted him dead.

Lynch’s Dune is entirely consistent with this and even provides a reason he survived (and raised the possibility that he was the Kwisatz Haderach).
Villeneuve’s Dune completely lacked this context and internal logic and had characters acting completely out of character to make the scene happen.
That’s just one example of why Villeneuve Dune is trash and Lynch Dune is superior.

      Anonymous

in the book the benne gesserit can't "feel pauls pain" because thats moronic. and mohaim stops the test becuase paul lasts longer then any female benne gesserit had ever lasted, and also she's worried that she might be making him unlock too much power by causing him so young to so completely over come such unimaginable amount of pain, this is reflected in villneueves movie. she doesn't want him to become powerful by mastering his body and by mastering pain, and also, she decides maybe he is the kwisatz haderach after all.

        Anonymous

Yes and Lynch’s Dune improves on the book by having Mohiam share the pain and break before Paul, did you even watch the fkn film m8

The books are great. Some are just hard to follow due to the distance apart in time. it helps to not read them fast in a row but over periods of time. Give yourself a break between each book. The son's books are unreadable trash though. Lynch Dune good shit. Mini series ok shit. Dunc is just shit shit.

Villeneuve’s’thopters look like Battle of the Plaets ep 52 ‘attack of the alien wasp’ crap that was designed in the 70’s.

Lynch's Dune is arguably his worst film.
Villeneuve's DUNC is arguably his best film.
Also, Lynch's Dune is significantly better than DUNC.

Both films (and the sci-fi channel series) have their high points. But only Villanueve’s version has an African looking woman play the part of a man, Dr. Liet Kynes. For that alone it should be regarded as second rate garbage. I’d rather have wierding modules tbh.
