No. You only think that version is good because it's less popular and you want to be a contrarian so you seem cultured. Even Lynch hates it.

You only like the new version because it has Chalamet and you're a disgusting queer.
i think most people like it despite chalamet being cast in it. they could have done better
it's good enough that even a lazy casting for the lead can't bring it down
>dull, depressing bleak, shitty looking.landscape
>wins best VFX
What did Hollywood mean by this?
nooo, this barren, hostile desert has to be technocolor!
Worked amazingly well for Fury Road, homosexual.
Desaturated palettes and CGI second-unit shots of barren landscapes and brutalist architecture belong in the garbage.
>nooooooo you can't want things in a PELICULA to be visually appealing!
>when things look drab and ugly that makes me scream KINOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>Oh boy I love acting like I love film!
frick off
The imagery was stark and monastic to reflect the themes of the story. It’s not really that complicated
Yeah because when you’re in sole control of the most valuable substance in the galaxy, ‘stark and monastic’ is the way to go.
>I’m fabulously wealthy, better live in a bare concrete cubicle
It’s as stupid as watering trees in the middle of the day so a significant portion of the water evaporates, or having multiracial deep-desert Fremen when they have been interbreeding without external genes for millennia. Ridiculous aesthetic choices that clash jarringly with the actual settings and themes of the books and movies.
>nooo!!! Realism is the only purpose of art. Everything has to play out exactly as I imagine it would or the entire film is bad
Go back, plotgaygery isn’t a virtue here. But I know of a website where you would fit right in
Plotgaygery? When I’m not critiquing the plot but rather the aesthetic choices that clash with the setting? How many layers ofvmoronx are you on exactly?
>wh-where le COLORSIES?!?
There are 2 things one of them HAS to be good, my ind just can't accept they both suck in different ways.
>Lynch Dune
Soul because everything was hand made in Mexico- sets, costumes, the lot.
>Villeneuve Dune
Soulless because everything was made on a greenscreen and long boring silences punctuated by virtue signalling add nothing to a film.
>everything was made on a greenscreen
Ackschually there were also "sand screes"
What a demoralizing shoot location
That future fight scene was so ridiculous, I hope that they manage to made a better one in the sequel
Admit it, this part was badass
What did he say again?
No, it has a charm that has yet to die in my mind, and I get it every rewatch.
>How can you like the old Dune, you CONTRARIAN you ?!
*holds up spork* hehe it's so wacky and weird!
How very very contrarian indeed. Tasteless, even.
its dishonest.
Let’s compare the gom jabbar scene
>Lynch
Jessica is worried but uses her training to hide it.
Paul is defiant and strong enough to resist Mohiam’s Voice to a significant degree.
It’s clear that everything Paul is feeling, Mohiam is feeling as well, and despite her desperate desire to kill him, she breaks before he does h this makes sense, if you’re going to yardstick someone as fit to join the ranks of the Bene Gesserit, or in Paul’s case, at least know enough of their training to match a Reverend Mother).
>Villeneuve Dune
Jessica is a whimpering mess.
Paul is completely unable to resist Mohiam’s Voice.
Mohiam isn’t suffering with Paul, meaning there is no ‘limit’ to the test and she could just have kept cranking up the pain to force him to fail.
Remember that the Bene Gesserit were pissed off that Paul was conceived and wanted a daughter that could be bred with Feyd Rautha to bring about the Kwisatz Haderach. They wanted him dead.
Lynch’s Dune is entirely consistent with this and even provides a reason he survived (and raised the possibility that he was the Kwisatz Haderach).
Villeneuve’s Dune completely lacked this context and internal logic and had characters acting completely out of character to make the scene happen.
That’s just one example of why Villeneuve Dune is trash and Lynch Dune is superior.
in the book the benne gesserit can't "feel pauls pain" because thats moronic. and mohaim stops the test becuase paul lasts longer then any female benne gesserit had ever lasted, and also she's worried that she might be making him unlock too much power by causing him so young to so completely over come such unimaginable amount of pain, this is reflected in villneueves movie. she doesn't want him to become powerful by mastering his body and by mastering pain, and also, she decides maybe he is the kwisatz haderach after all.
Yes and Lynch’s Dune improves on the book by having Mohiam share the pain and break before Paul, did you even watch the fkn film m8
>Dune
good
>sequel books
bad
>books by the son
unreadable
>lynch dune
shit
>mini series(s)
shit
>dunc
shit
There's no hope.
The books are great. Some are just hard to follow due to the distance apart in time. it helps to not read them fast in a row but over periods of time. Give yourself a break between each book. The son's books are unreadable trash though. Lynch Dune good shit. Mini series ok shit. Dunc is just shit shit.
Thank you for letting me know you're an idiot. I appreciate it. Would you mind using a trip so I never have to see your posts again?
Was what I said really that offensive
Should I have just not replied and let the thread die and let you go on being (You)less
Frick you
I'm not offended
Your opinions are pure ass
Do not reply, gay
A beautiful haiku inspired but your complete lack of taste.
bye your complete lack of taste
I endorse your views Anon.
(pointless abuse noises)
Solid rebuttal there Mr hot take
Thanks, anon.
They wanted to go full Warhammer 40k with the scale but then had like 30 people standing next to a city sized space ship. They couldn't get it right and everything felt so small despite Dune's massive scale
wow you are exactly right, it did feel small
New ornithopter design:
>actual care and consideration put into it, looks futuristic but realistic, they used actual helicopters on set to kick up dust realistically, and its accurate to how its described in the books
Old ornithopter design:
Just some random gay box, inside looks like a recording studio, just copy_pasted onto bluescreen
Flying machines are difficult. Their expertise was in the worms.
>Know then, that it is the year 10191.
Yet somehow ornitopther looks like result of Apache copter getting fricked by firefly.
>ooooh ooh I know let’s make the ornithopters look like dragonflies
Lynch’s ‘thopters retrofuturist approach sits nicely with the science-fantasy themes, remember the line about science looking like magic when it gets advanced enough.
Villeneuve’s’thopters look like Battle of the Plaets ep 52 ‘attack of the alien wasp’ crap that was designed in the 70’s.
Pic related it’s the alien wasp impregnating ur mom

Reddit: The thread.
Lynch's Dune is arguably his worst film.
Villeneuve's DUNC is arguably his best film.
Also, Lynch's Dune is significantly better than DUNC.
Make of that what you will.
Nah Sicario is by far Villeneuve’s only watchable film. The rest are pseud food.
Elaborate on that
Realistic characters
Consistent motivations
Moral grey areas
Muh stronk womxn getting BTFO and pet Black guy not able to save her
Understandable social dissonance that suits the setting and situation
Realistic sets and well-paced story
All his other films:
Excessive reliance on SFX
Unmotivated behaviour
Long drawn out silences because artistic
Jared Leto
When Dave Bautista turns in the only good and sympathetic performance in a film you direct, you know you fricked up as a director somewhere
DUNC part 2 is quite literally the only movie I am looking forward to
I'm looking forward to your cope posts when it's shit
If it's shit then we can close the books on cinema as a medium
Stick a fork in it, it's done, so to speak
for you
Don't worry, you'll love it anyway.
Look a Part 1. You loved that one, despite it being complete trash.
digits and truth, all in one post
Both films (and the sci-fi channel series) have their high points. But only Villanueve’s version has an African looking woman play the part of a man, Dr. Liet Kynes. For that alone it should be regarded as second rate garbage. I’d rather have wierding modules tbh.
No, I don't really like the casting or the soundtrack or the visuals. It just doesn't look interesting.
dunc paul hearing the witches whispers is the most moronic shit
>Kyle McLachlan is the ultimate human
Tall, well built, devastatingly handsome, great chin.
>Timothy Chalamet is the ultimate human
5’3”, built like one of the Try Guys on an all-söi diet
I laugh
>Virginia Madsen as Irulan
Hot hot HOTTT
>Florence Pugh as Irulan
Pughly to the max
>Sean Young as Chani
Would smash
>Zendaya as Chani
Would smash over the head with a brick and run away
>Patrick Stewart as Gurney
Dignity and gravitas
>Josh Brolin as Gurney
Worst performance since Goonies
When I read the book I read with Kyle voice and face on Paul, Chalamet could never be Paul Artreides and i'm glad that his hype Is down now
I’m still mad they turned one of my favorite books into slop.
if it's so good, why did you and your fellow employees start trying to hype it, but then it was announced as delayed and over night the hype disappeared
its gay shit and you're a homosexual op
Dune, as rendered by stable diffusion
AI would never be that unimaginative, anon.
>Twice as long as the Lynch Dune
>Half as much background and exposition
>Fill in the gaps with slow motion, boring second unit shots and Zendaya Zendaya Zendaya cameos
Bravo Hackeneuve
It is funny to think that many people think they have good taste because they like a movie that Lynch himself has stated is by far his worst movie
That’s just his opinion though. Look at Lost Highway, now that’s a pile of shit.
