Evil Dead 1 is kind of shitty but I won't deny what they accomplished with what they had was nothing short of incredible.

If you like horror, ED1 stands out as one of the best low-budget horror movies. It's original, it has a great aesthetic style, it's the right level of camp, it's raw and gritty. ED2 is much more comedy and you can skip the first half of the movie on rewatches and not miss much. The second half also suffers from this annoying character.
aliens is both better and worse than alien. they are extremely distinct and as perfectly orthogonal with no overlap that any sequel could ever be. it's really an achievement.
and yet, he acted and was much scarier in the first movie. i don't rewatch alien for the action

nah, alien is better. the xenomorph being essentially reduced to cannon fodder by cameron devalues what makes the original movie a classic
